I remember rassie playing for the bokke in the 1999 world cup, he was a force to reckon with as a blindside flanker, the whole class of 1999 was top notch especially when the bokke beat the pommies in the quarter final in Paris when ginger haired jannie De beer slotted all the points with his big boot, I think joost scored a controversial penalty try which was then converted by De beer. The rest of the points were drop goals and penalties by De beer. What was totally awesome about that match was that the English media had absolutely written off the bokke. But the semi final match was disappointing when the bokke lost to an Australian drop goal in extra time
