the moment you live in the netherlands and toverland is almost in your backyard (8km) and the other home parks are efteling, moviepark, phantasialand and bobbejaanland
"I just wish the park was bigger" - that's what we all dream about! Great review with really cool shots. Thank you for providing so much cool content for our home park!
To be honest, I think the park wouldn't be what it is today if they were bigger. But yeah, a bigger park with this much attention to detail would be awesome.
For the people that don't know: Even though there is space they can't expand their area because they are not getting the permission to do so (the locals are against it) so all they can do is replace rides etc., very unfortunate. Like, why move to an area with an amusement park nearby just to complain about it...
XvX_K1R1T0_XvX_ Killme Phantasialand offered them a lot of money but they don’t want to . They want to complain . There is even a ride which must be closed on Sunday and local holiday days since " people on a calm boat ride are way too loud "
These restrictions make it so unique! Taron would've probably been a normal, stretched-out ride without them. But just imagine: Phantasialand, but the size of Efteling, all packed with attractions and superb theming.....
You gotta try them out during the winter seasons... They set a new tone to everything.. Taron gets a change with light shows and Smoke all around the track. It changes it from great to one of the worlds best. It's like a whole new theme park.
i went on chiapas in the winter and even tho it was a busy day i was alone in the queue and after the final drop people were staring at me like i was crazy xD
@@viktorhollanderwiborg1778 as Germany is cold, coasters are designed to resist extreme temperature (Taron can run at -11° for example). It's not much but it shows how the park owners are passionate :)
@@TheKennyJacksonMJ Is that confirmed? D: I've been hoping for so long, especially since the Chiapas soundtrack is available. It's up to Phantasialand rather than IMAScore isn't it?
Europe seems to give the best overall experiences at most of their parks, trying to give you good rides without just being record holders and trying to make it look nice with theming and landscaping
also the entrance price is more affordable to most people Phantasialand is close to 50€ most parks are without typical offers between 30€and 50€ for adults. And this year again at Phantasialand there is an offer when you buy 1 ticket in the time from march to april (i think) you get a second ticket for another visit for free in the season (but its only for yourself you cant give it to another person)
@@wolfgangvan-uber6515 I'm sure they will do a line for people that want to do the VR, And another line that don't as not everyone will want to do it VR They should bring back: ‘'Space Center'’ the theming was really good on that ride
I absolutely love this park. I visited it last year for the First time and actually visited twice in the year, and was absolutely blown away. Thats what Phantasialand does to you. The funniest Moment was the Breakdown on Winjas. We stopped in a Block section,my GP friends were freaking out like ohh the other train will Hit us! Then we went on and stopped in the next Block again. It was so funny. When I rode Mystery Castle, there were no scare actors in the Line. Well,I love this place, and you will too. The Front entrance you went trough is the ugliest of the 3,there is also one in Mystery and one in Chinatown.
@Phantasialand Fan they should bring back: ‘'Space Center'’ -That wouldn't cost them that much to do than to build/make a whole new ride Where you from?
@Phantasialand Fan So if your an hour away from PHL-Let me guess are you from Dusseldorf? That was on a TV on a cooking programme a few weeks back :-) I'm from the UK in England-Kent, Have you been to UK and if so whereabouts? I have been to many parts of Germany for examples: Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Munich, Cologne, Bochum, etc etc since a kid in the 80's-I was also listening to Sandra a few days ago with: "In the Heat of the Night" love that song and music video What attraction would you replace it with then? Could be another tradional Dark Ride, + not another part Roller Coaster-part Dark Ride!
@Phantasialand FanHave you always lived in that part of Germany :-) -Well you should come to the UK what are you waiting for? You have never heard of the really big hit : In the Heat of the Night by Sandra oh come on very popular song in your country and so is the singer Sandra and still plays on the radio today-So very confused here-Your winding me up lol Ah ok so you would knock down both them rides for a bigger Dark Ride, You mean much bigger as that would make not just bigger room but much bigger room for another ride! Really like the other classic Dark Rides there like: Geister Rikscha + Maus Au Chocolat-I really miss other Dark Rides they had there like: Race for Atlantis, "Galaxy", Gondelbahn 1001 Nacht, Silver Mine, :-(
The Problem with Temple of the Night Hawk is that the building it is in is also Home to the Parks evening Dinner Show "Fantissima", and as long as that doesn't get a new location (which could happen in Rookburgh, but I somehow doubt that) they won't do much with that building. And as rumors suggest simply removing the current coaster from it is supposedly also an Issue because the coasters support structure is, as the rumors say anyway, part of the buildings supporting structure. Known fact however is that if they ever tear down the building entire a new building can't be as high as the current one because of complaints from people living nearby. A new Ride there would have to either somehow fit in the current building, go very deep or doesn't require much height anyway. Temple of the Night Hawk feels so long because it is actually the longest Indoor Coaster in the World. The Original Space Theme of the Ride was amazing.
The Hollywood Tour is also in the same building. Plus the Temple (I still want to call it Space Center) is pretty tight-knit and doesn't take as much space within the building as one would think. But yeah, Brühl is loud about keeping the park as restrained as possible :(
There are rumors going around that temple of ghe night hawk will get vr i think that will improve the ride experience since there would finally be something to look at, also hollywood tour is in the same building so it would be even harder to remove it :/ or just completely remove both attractions idunno.
@@lebwoi2730 That's not a rumor, that is a confirmed thing. AFAIK the ride is currently closed to add the necessary VR Tech and they try to open it back up somewhere in June. The new name for the Ride will be "Crazy Bats"
This is my #1 bucket list park. It looks absolutely beautiful and even though it may not have a ton of coasters, the coasters it does have are all a full experience.
it actually has kina a lot. Winjas, black mamba, taron, raik, collerado adventure, crazy bats, FLY. It is a pretty solid line up. Crazy bats being the main dissapointment. Collerado adventure for example was such an unexpected blast.
Next week I will finally get there again. The experience 15 years ago was already great, and back when I was 6 this was a totally different park which was great in its own way. We have a couple of nice theme parks in Germany, but none is as great as Phantasialand. I live nearby Europa Park, definitely a great Park, but they definitely don't put as much effort into details, especially the queues for their biggest rides didn't receive much love unlike in Phantasialand.
You absolutely have to come back for F.L.Y.!!! One of the best coasters ever built. It’s not the fastest or most intense, but the Theming and the Ride is incredible!!!
-The problem with Temple is that it is built on Hollywood Tour (boat dark Ride) and Fantissima (It's a big Cabaret that works all year). So destroy temple means also destroy Hollywood Tour and Fantissma, but Phantasialand cares a lot about Fantissima ! - The main entrance has only "main entrance " name. Actually, real mean entrance is China entrance, where is the first parking.
About the Mystery Castle Cycle, I rode it 3 times and the time it had a long queue the sequence was shorter, but with a short line it felt like 3 mins of just amazing bouncing and stuff. Also, a long time ago Temple of the Night Hawk had a giant UFO that was shooting lasers and it was fricking awesome. Nice review by the way!
As it is in a rather urbanized Area, you can generally enter from nearly any direction, so instead of one big main entrance, you have entrances for every themed Region, with the Alt Berlin entrance just being the oldest one and the one with the best Public Transport Connections instead of Parking.
Believe me we all want it to have room to expand. But I love my home park dearly. And to hear somebody from THE country of the theme parks praising our little gem phantasialand is awesome.
The city in the main entrance is old Berlin, so it's also a theme. When I was a kid there was smaller version of the Brandenburger Tor, but they changed SO much in the Berlin part.
I went last summer, my favourite park in the world. Like you said everything is so well thought out, so well designed, so breathtaking that you just can’t ignore it’s brilliance, their attractions don’t have to be the tallest fastest or longest because they genuinely are the best of their kind!
I know this video is quite old but here are some infos If you'll ever want to come back here! The entrance you went through is not the only entrance! This is the one that's mostly used by groups on a school trip. We always use the one at Mystery Castle. It is much nicer If also not very big. Nighthawk has not been torn down but instead rethemed and turned into a VR coaster. The new world Rookburgh is absolutely incredible. The theming is gorgeous and F.l.y. is a great ride!
Man you got no idea how many memories you brought back to me with Phantasialand and Eurpa park! Im 15 now but I lived in the Netherlands when I was 10. I went to both parks and still remember them but theses vids make me remember exactly where I was standing. Thanks for the vids (:
I haven't visited this Park until 2016. Since then I visit it at least once per year with an obligatory visit during the "Wintertraum" season in December / January. Absolutely love it! You wouldn't want to miss out!
You didn´t ride River Quest? Oh man, it is one of the best rapid river rides in the world! You have to ride it. It´s absolut phantastic, but you maybe soaked in water, when you came out. And another thing: You have to eat the ice cream beneath chiapas. What a ice cream! What a taste. ;)
By hearing your good very positive thoughts about this park, I wouldn't mind taking a visit to this park if I ever make another visit to the Europe area, big themes make a better visit.
The difference in that park since i skated in the ice show in '96 (i think!) is incredible! They've added SO many great rides! What they've achieved with that small space they have is remarkable. I truly loved working there 😁
i just came back from the park. I slept in the asian hotel. And it was awesome! There was a swimming pool, a really big buffet. A late night cocktail bar at the 4th floor with beautifuel vieuw! Recommended for sure
Nice review, and I have to agree Phantasialand is one of the best parks in the world. I will never forget riding front row Taron in the rain....I Swear that thing went even faster! (as if that was possible?) One of the best coaster experiences of my life.
Finally got to phantasialand yesterday after years of wanting to go… WOW 🤯 couldn’t get over the level of detail they had with every ride 👌🏼 I would 100% recommend going back to do Rookburgh it was next level 👏🏼
Chiapas holds a special place for me. I went to Phantasialand with some friends during the spring break, and we loved Chiapas. After spring break, one of our teachers anounced that we'd be going there as a school trip in a few weeks. When we were there, there were barely any queues. I took a few decks of cards with me to make a funny picture and a friend brought some tape. We went on Chiapas to see where the picture was taken (the queue was literally empty) and afterwards, we taped some Uno cards to our hands and held them during the attraction. The picture was great and the people working there loved it.
The town is directly next to the park and there is a road going through the middle of the park. They can build higher rides but everything has to be soundproof. So giant walls or indoor!
I agree completely with your review. I have been visiting Phantasialand for more than 30 years. Hard to imagine that the Temple of the Night Hawk was supposed to be a spectacular coaster back when it opened. You had to wait in line for at least an hour. Now 1 minute max. Just goes to see how we have improved on coasters since then... It sadly pales in the face of all the other coasters, especially Taron, which is hands down my favorite coaster of the moment (probably will be surpassed by Untamed when it opens).
I think you nailed it, this was my first and only true love when it comes to theme parkes, especially cause they always made improvments since bringing in Afrika and the Mamba, they got more and more immersive. I also im totally happy that someone got excited about winjas, cause it always gets underated, when you drop while you dont see the drop, that is the best feeling!
Now with Rookburg open you really have to return! F.L.Y is something else! And the theming is out of this world! So happy that I live within a 3 hours drive of Walibi Holland, Efteling, Toverland, Heidepark, Moviepark Germany and Phantasialand!
Bin absolut selbiger Meinung. Ist einfach mega entspannend nach Taron oder Black Mamba, im Temple etwas herunterzukommen. Etwas nostalgie ließt in mein Empfinden auch ein. I am absolutely of the same opinion. Just relaxing after Taron or Black Mamba, getting down the temple a bit. Something nostalgia reads into my feelings too.
River Quest was named "Parkhaus Rafting" or translated carpark rafting, because of the building, by many enthusiasts. But it got much better since the rework :D
Taylor you need to visit some of the European parks in winter. Phantasialand during the Wintertraum event is absolutely incredible. The park is open until late, the whole area is immersed in holiday themeing and Klugheim is all illuminated. Riding Taron in the dark is absolutely insane! They also have snow machines around the park, fireworks, millions of lanterns and all the traditional German festive foods. If you do stay on site at either Matamba or Ling Bao then the ERT is definitely worth the extra money. You get a whole hour, however most people only do Taron once or twice and then either go back to the hotel or go to Raike which leaves Taron open for multiple re-rides. I think we managed 15 rides in the back row consecutively without having to leave the train. It was INSANE!
10:30 The Entrance in "Old Berlin" is so to speak the first entrance phantasialand ever had. So it still has its old style.. The biggest entry though is right behind Mystery Castle right next to Klugheim.
Just came across this and it reminded me of my visit about 6/7 years ago (maybe?) :) Such a great park, and I totally agree about the themeing. There are so many parks with great rides that I just refer to as "Coasters in a carpark" because this place spoiled me so hard!
I just checked on some childhood memories coming across your vid and I really have to second almost all of your given commentaries on Phantasialand. It is one of the most dense themed parks out there in the world, though I must admit that I haven't been in theme parks over in the US or AUS. But I really can't think of any other theme park which might top Phantasialand. And I have been to lots around in Europe. Because they done everything so damn well! As you stated: the limitation in space made the inventors of Phantasialand extraordinarily creative that it's mind blowing at some point. E.g. it's the only theme park I have been so far, giving me the impression I am walking through in full environmental... can't describe it with other words. I mean, the park is not only left or right of you. NO! It's everywhere! It's below you! It's above you! They even *damn* stacked some of those attractions and stapled them above each other, because they just hadn't the space to set those apart from each other! That makes the experience so intense. And because they couldn't go for record breaking rides they had to pull it off with the artworks all over the place, granted that at some structure's time's nagging obviously. But if you don't eagle-eye for that, you will hardly recognize! Just few additions: Next time you go to the Phantasialand skipping River Quest, go kill yourself! ^_^ Nah, just kidding! But believe me, boy: that rapid river raft has the coolest drops. They had to built it virtually vertical (again: thanks to limitations)! Already the starting lift up onto 22mtrs is way cooler than most others. And then it brings you down from 22 to 0 within only 250m². It just goes *splash* all the time! Did I sound like a fan-boy? Well, I suppose I am! The truth about The Temple of the Night Hawk. It started as the world longest space themed indoor-coaster, and it was the coolest thing! The effects and laser shooting top notched. Then it was turned into something... worse. As much I love what they did with Wuze Town, I hate what they did to Space Center because of Wuze Town!
@@ragcreature yeah. It's fun. Just at the start i hurt my back in it at the start when the first chain engaged. The cart gets jolted forward and it has a very low backrest. So if you are 2 meters tall or so make sure you lean forward until you are going up the hill. The ride itself is pretty good.
I visit this park since 2002 (almost) every year 1-2 times and the development it made is crazy. Sure, I miss quite a few of the old rides, but that's propably due to nostalgia. The "new" areas are just phenomenal and until today I enjoy every visit, and I'm also kind of sad every time when I have to leave again. Visiting PHL is like feeling like a child again.
i really love this Park and i am not the Guy for the shows, but these are also amazing. They got big talents in the past like siegfried and roy started there or Jan Rouven. It's just crazy
Next time you go to Phantasialand, eat at the "Taverne" in Klugheim. It's so unique, tasty and worth the price. Medival themed, food in metal pans and on slate, it's amazing. And Taron is my favorite coaster! I like Temple of the Night Hawk as well, just as a chill ride in between :D
It's nice to hear and watch your review. I'm from germany and I do visit the park as often as I can (also visit a lot of other parks in europe). You are completely right, the main entrance is not worth a photo or something like that. It's more worth to go to the themed areas like Deep In Africa or Klugheim. I guess the Temple of the nighthawk is still the longest dark coaster in the world, but it is very old (over 30y old) and do not fit to the rest of the park. You definitely missed the splash boot ride (River Quest). It is so much fun, well themed and you will get very wet ;) Hope you enjoyed your stay in germany.
I love Phantasialand, it's my all time favourite park. Should you ever come back, I would say, definitely stay in one of the hotels. They're absolutely gorgeous and in my opinion worth the money. I can also recommend the African dinner buffet at the Matamba hotel. Another great place to eat is the tavern in Klugheim. They have lots of traditional German food that is definitely not your typical theme park food. Also the restaurant is beautifully themed as well, so I think it's worth the time and money. I'd say it's the parks most recommended place to eat, I'm suprised you didn't go there.
I'm planning an European theme park tour for...well whenever I have enough money, and your review videos are really helpful! Phantasialand is definitely on my list, it looks fantastic
The queue is most of the time very fast for that ride unless its one of those days where they got close to their capacity limits. Cause they can get so many people through in an hour.
I live like 30km away from Phantasialand, when I was young, I used to go there so often. I easily visited Phantasialand over 20 times. I'd say it's definetly a themepark where you have to go and take your time with everything, sometimes just chill and take in the atmosphere. It's unfortunate you didn't have much time to spend in the asian part of the park, they have one of my fav attractions, where the entire houuse you are in turns upside down while the people also get tilted to a certain degree.
We live near Phantasialand and used to visit it minimum once a year with our children for many, many years. We experienced the growing and the developement of the Park and its attractions. When I was a kid myself there were so many rides that also were cute and awesome and don't exist anymore to be replaced with more thrilling ones. I really wish there was much more space....
You definitely should have eaten at Klugheim they have a great a la carte restaurant and also a place to eat Flammkuchen (kind of a a predecessor to pizza) and watched the show el tiempo del fuego (is where the whole section of Mexico is being turned into a show stage) Here a tip for you: you should definitely visit Phantasialand in December as they have a Christmas special running (the whole park is just lit up in Christmas decorations, shows, you have ice skating, punsch, Christmas food specialities and wayyy less people than in the summer: i was there on a Monday in December and the longest wait was about 5-10 minutes at Taron! At most attractions you could just enter straight into without a single person in front of you & also they have some amazing deals in the winter time and you actually save a lot of money compared to summer if you stay on site
A larger park would be nice, but I will say that a smaller park probably allowed them to totally go all in on the theming. A larger park might’ve had more rides, but also caused everything to downgrade on the theming.
Friend of mine is every few years in DIsneyland Paris says the come right after Disney with the decorations but he likes Phantasialand more cause Disney lacks real thrill rides
This moment when you watch this review after you returned from a 3 day Phantasialand Trip which included a stay at Charles Lindbergh and Rookburgh. Rookburgh is amazing btw. and F.L.Y, Holy Crap that thing is awesome!
Grew up with this theme park. Seen a lot of attractions come and go. The Mine Train - Colorado Adventue (Michael Jackson Thrill Ride) has been rebuild on MJ‘s Netherland Ranch. The oldest attraction is „Geister Rikscha“ which is located under China Town. This endless Darkride is 38 years old.
You probably got the Misery Castle setting which is shorter. The Mistery setting is normally placed after 3pm and includes a longer sequence and a longer show!
This is definetly my favourite park in the world and it even is one of my homepark, so I can go there quite often. The theming and the immersion is insane and they have a lot of great rides. Can't wait to get back in April. Hopefully you can come back here someday
Just went there the other day for the first time and it was awesome. Never knew such a gem of a park was only 2 hours from where I live. Also if you stay at one of the hotels you get in earlier as well as being able to stay later and from what I heard a one night stay in a double room is only about 100 euros which actually isn’t that bad
The Berlin area used to be more recognizable, and had sensible focus points. They moved the carousel (shoved it, really) to where the beautiful Neptune fountain used to be and the swing thing is where a copy of the Brandenburg gate originally was. These were not improvements.
I love this park so much, we visit with our family every Christmas and stay two nights, it's amazing! Only a 3-hour ride from my home in the Netherlands! Walibi is my homepark btw.
It’s impressive that klugheim is up there with pandora and the wizarding world of Harry Potter because those areas are about the size of the park it self
08:58 from 1988 to 2001 this coaster was called "space center". It was like a flight through the space. (I think there was a space war too). Phantasialand rethemed "space center" to "temple of the night hawk" because space center would not fit into wuze town
I may leave my thoughts, ya? I live 2 hours (car) away and try to go there every year on my birthday (birthday kiddos every age are free for the whole day. not a discount or a cheap toy present, FREE entrance). The small park is amazing and the history behind it is kind of interesting. How it started, developed, burned down in parts and was rising from ashes. There are not only height restrictions, the park can not expand in any direction with locals also complaining about noise (you don't say living fence to fence near a theme park) ... phantasialand has hard times, they survive from quality and returning people. (I'm also an ass for being super loud at the fence where the people live behind for reasons). The theming is necessary in parts for noise reduction .. all these and more regulations don't hold them back. they build new things in places of old things instead of keeping old stuff, it is fun to have something new every 2-3 years and sad that old things are lost. except temple of the night hawk. that's pretty much the most boring coaster ever. that can go. everyone go make research and admire this place! thanks for reading. have a nice day
I visited two years ago this July, on a school trip from England. Literally amazing. I love our parks in England, but nothing will ever compare to Phantasialand- Alton Towers at a push. Unpopular opinion- I think that, after F.L.Y. they could use a GCI. Anyone else? Again, amazing!! Great review 😊
They cannot built a wooden coaster because they do not have the space for it (the expansion of Phantasialand is being blocked by local politicians for almost 40 years now) and it would also be too loud as the neighbours are always complaining. If they could, I'd guess, Phantasialand would have built an RMC, because it would have been a good addition to the coaster line-up and would also be the first in Germany. I guess and hope they will built a mind-blowing darkride next because that is definitely missing and will be indoor and so no stress with the neighbours.
I went like 4 times with my school class there. The winjas are surely one of my favorite rides, they were actually my first spinning coasters and I thought like an elevator lift would be pretty common on coasters back then haha. So few people actually know that these are the only spinning tilt coasters out there
I just went this week to the Wintertraum! It is amazing and anyone looking at it, 23 euros each is an absolute steal! full operations and 5 minute queues!
I live 20 minutes away from Phantasialand. Been there so often, seeing it improving every year. 30 years ago, with age of 7 it flashed me a as kid and still does. Big problem the park has, it is close to a living area. Temple of the nighthawk, formerly known as space center, will stay. But i heard it will be modified to a VR-Coaster. This hall is the closest to the city. Just tearing it down and construct some new, loud outdoorattraction will not be allowed.
Phantasialand land is one of my bucket list parks that I must go to and check out. I'm still in school, but at some point in my life, I will go to this park and check it out.
Great review! I loved Phantasialand. What I did not like was that finding the entance to some of the ride queues was very difficult. Chiapas especially. You could also tell which part of the park was the oldest. I think there was a large lake that had little around it. maybe this will be the next spot of expansion.
Always wanted to do a Germany park road trip but time and budget (Edinburgh UK) means probably having to pick off one at a time, and Phantasialand is certainly one for a 2 day midweek trip, especially after that and other glowing reports :)
