The prices sure are going up quick. I got a quote 3 months ago after watching this video and have been researching and shopping around since. I've also been looking at buying a used machine or importing a machine directly from China to save some money. I finally decide to pay more to support a U.S. company and purchase the Atomic from Phantom, but in three months the price has gone from $16.9k to $19.5k.

MCG, thanks for sharing your perspective brother! Purchasing the right CNC the first time is a very important thing to do.

this was an excellent video and was very informative because I just received my scv 44 phantom cnc and been having some problems trying to get everything wired up and i really wanted to hook up my vaccum table but i'm just starting up myself and all the start up costs are crazy with a machine like this especially when it comes to fork lifts rentals to actually unload the machine, electrical installing especially if your house or shop cannot accept many more circuit breakers then your either looking at a generator which is what I might have to do just to run my vaccum for my table or your looking at having an electrican to hook up a sub panel which is not cheap at all. any kind of electrical work in my area is not easy. Oh not to mention all the money you are gonna need for tool bits, materials, and shipping costs to get your machine shipped to you so it is an investment. Anyways the fact that this video confirmed for me that the rollers are pneumatic really helped me because i am just about to fire up my machine for the first time but I will not be able to use the vaccum table or vaccum pump at the moment unless i can find a way around my current electrical situation. Thank You for everything

Thank you for all the information you provide. I know the major differences between a Phantom and a Legacy machine and I feel that the comparison between the two is apples to oranges. My question to you as you have reviewed them both is which is the better built machine? Thanks again for your insight.
@IDCWoodcraft

user-gf6ps8km9t, that is a tricky one brother. Both are fantastic machines and it would be hard to pick between the two.

@IDCWoodcraft

Joyner85, I've had my Phantom for quite some time now, and overall, it's been a solid performer! Just like any tool, regular maintenance is key to keeping things running smoothly! It's definitely been worth the investment for all my projects!

I enjoyed this video, I thought the information was excellent. I own an Axiom Elite AR8 it is 2'x4' and it came in at Close to 14 grand. Like you mentioned a tool changer . Yeah in hindsight a tool changer would be absolutely fantastic for one thing and that would be eliminating the Z errors. I do not do production but I am human and sometimes you forget to zero out and poof disaster. I enjoy my machine I don't regret my purchase. I have only so much space in my garage my wife was ok with surrendering . I kid about the wife but the space issue is real . I would love a vacuum table but the noise alone prohibits me from ever considering that as an option . I do not do production I just enjoy creating things . But the vacuum hmm yeah it sure is nice though really nice .. Any how I love what you bring to the community. Oh yeah I happen to catch a video on RU-vid and they had received an order of IDC bits and he ran the bits for the first time in that video and they worked like a boss so I will be putting together my wish list of bits I want to have on hand for the up coming wood working season here in phoenix. I am itching like a child to get out into the shop again . 115 is not fun to work in the shop so I must wait ...... ah yeah the creator loved the M&M's that came with the bits .. Have a fantastic day .

RobertKrueger, congrats on your new machine brother! Im also happy to hear that the IDC bits are working great for you too my friend! Here is to getting back into the shop soon.

What particular CNC Router do you recommend as an entry machine? I will need at least 12inches wide pieces to fit With potential a little longer length. Plus, I will work with wood/glass/plexiglass possibly. Are most bits usable in any CNC? (Same base shaft diameter) Disabled I will start off on a low budget. Please advise.
@IDCWoodcraft
@IDCWoodcraft Год назад
Smartassist9700, there's a lot of great machines out there my friend. I'm a little biased being a longmill and Phantom guy myself though! I recommend taking a look at the longmill, here's a link to my full review if you want to take a look →ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Yh94V35neSU.html. I always recommend going with the machine that feels like the right fit for you. As long as you're able to create the things you've been imagining, that's what matters most brother!

These are some lovely machines I must say very informative video excellent explanation. Not a snarky salesman but a knowledgeable representative good stuff! But at around 20-25K I would seriously consider buying a used Biesse Rover 24, industrial cnc machine or something similar. But you wouldn't get the support that comes with a new machine like this
@IDCWoodcraft
@IDCWoodcraft Год назад
Mick, very fair points my friend! The customer support is definitely something I value with getting a machine like this, but to others it may not be such a big deal breaker! I always recommend with going with the machine that feels like the right fit for you!

I watched several Phantom videos, and I’ve yet to hear whether they are ball screw or rack and pinion.

So this was posted 2 months ago. On Phantoms website they show the Atomic having a 6hp motor not a twelve, and costing $19500 not $16000. Ok we have inflation, but have things changed that much in two months?😮
@IDCWoodcraft
@IDCWoodcraft 9 месяцев назад
Pathfollower, I'm not too sure on this one my friend. I'd recommend reaching out to them directly on their pricing structure. They should be able to give you a little better info on this one than I can!
@NobodyHereCares
@NobodyHereCares 14 дней назад
Since I called them out on the S6 rating they changed stuff around. The T or reaper having “16 hp” is shop vac Hp ratings. It is not possible to produce 16 hp from 240volts and a 30 amp breaker - and yes, that’s what’s in the cabinet. It’s 9.65 hp Max. Phantom doesn’t stand behind its products and Steve the owner won’t even return an email. F phantom Don’t waste your money on the cheapest quality parts and awful service, if any. True story.
