Chills everytime I hear this. They switched the lines: "I am the mask you wear" and "It's me they Hear". Beste Zangers is not a contest but each year they gather a group of artists and have them perform for eachother. The show is recorded over 8 days, with each day one artist in the centre seat next to the host. The others sing a song for that artist either from the artist's song list or something that has a meaning for that artist. Last day is for the duets. Paul H has full episodes with english subs on his channel

'Beste Zangers' has a double meaning in Dutch. Indeed it is 'Best Singers', but also 'Dear Singers' as in an introduction. There is no contest, it is just a celebration of music. Every year 7 singers from different genres and generations are put together and perform songs from the person who's episode it is or a song which has a special meaning to that person. In the last episode duets are sung from which this one comes. Henk Poort is a childhood hero for Floor and as she heard Henk was participating that season, she immediately accepted the invitation also. In the whole series you can see Floor 'fangirling' when Henk performs. Henk performed the Phantom for many years and was considered by Andrew Lloyd Webber as one of his favourites. Floor invited Henk to do another duet (from Jekyll and Hyde) on her RU-vid channel. Just go there and unpack some of the presents she left there. He also appeared in Floor's solo shows she did in the Netherlands. There will be a video of the last show available soon, but for now there are only some fancams around.

Floor and Henk really brought the heat on this performance. This is not a contest. Just a beautiful show where singer pay tribute to other singer and sing for them. Loved it Judy. Well done. Peace.

@@JudyAdele I agree with you Judy. Floor has done some amazing performances on Beste Zangers. You should check them all out. Emotions run high when a great singer like Floor pays you tribute and sings one of your own songs (or one that influenced you as a young vocalist)right in front of you. There is also a wonderful performance by Anneke Van Giersbergen from the current season of Beste Zangers. She sings her version of "Jest Oldu" (It was a gesture) for a Turkish singer named Karsu. It is beautiful and amazingly powerful. You can see it on Karsu's face. When Anneke switches to Turkish for the chorus. This song fills me with "joie de vivre". See link below. Floor has stated that Anneke was a huge influence and convinced her that a female could front a metal band. On another note, Floor has just announced that she will be appearing on the German version of Beste Zangers this season. She is currently in Berlin preparing for the show to be filmed for airing very soon. Beste Zangers is not a contest. It is 7 professional Dutch singers celebrating singing often out of their own wheelhouse. Each participant is invited and must make a list of important songs beforehand. They are together with each other for 10 days and no managers or spouses allowed. Mostly the group bonds very deeply. One gets in the central spot every night and the others sing songs that are important to him/her. Often from the reciever's repertoire but also any other song (that was on the list) is allowed. The last night are duets, like this one. The show is often quite emotional and supportive of each other. Good vibes. The show is on YT in its entirety the years 2018 to 2020 I think (with subtitles). 2021 is also very good (ongoing right now) with Anneke van Giersbergen (the inspiration of Floor) and Karsu. Generally the level of performances are very high (also the band is excellent).

Hey Judy. There are more ‘jewels’ of Floor Jansen in De Beste Zangers. Songs as Mama, Winner and the cover of Shallows ( Floor is blowing away Lady Gaga) are great to watch. And what about her covers like ‘ Let it go’, ‘Alone’, ‘Oblivion and ‘Adagio’. So time to discover more of Floor. Thanks for your reaction and greetings from The Netherlands.

I suck at coming up with names for things... and someone would have just said. "HEY DAD" and I'r run with it. It would take a lot of work for me to be a DAD, so that part isn't so accurate. I like to think if My Dad would have had the chance or inclination to make a RU-vid name when I was young.. that would have been something he would have done. "... well, that's what you kids say all the time so I may as well make it my name." LOL

No contest like American shows. They choose songs that means something to others and thats it. That's the beauty of this show. Down to performance. No editing on vocals like they do on the voice or idol. This is pure talent and everyone here by the end of the show they look at floor and they all like. How the hell we miss this metal singer when comes to her voice

7 singers, each week one sits on central couch and is sung to by other six with relevant songs plus some duets. Floor sang Vilja Lied to Henk and it is superb. And her version of Shallow to Emma Heesters is the best version I've heard.

Basically its 6 singers and each week one of the 6 is in the " hot seat" and the other 5 singers each do a song wether it be a cover of one their songs or a song that inspired/ means alot to that person in the "Hot seat" Although its not a contest FLOOR really stole the show ....she really shows her versatility singing classical to salsa and everything in between in like 5 different languages . You should check it out

Beste Zangers is a Dutch TV show that gets 7 singers together. One takes centre stage and the others sing them their songs or songs important to them. Floor joined the show because Henk was on it. He was her childhood hero when he was the orginal Dutch Phantom with 1000+ performances. He had never added distortion to his voice before until he sang Sound of Silence for Floor. Only one of the other singers had ever heard of Floor because Metal is not a popular genre in Holland. The astonishment on the faces of the other singers when she sang her first song on the show is a pleasure to behold. Her first song was the Aria Vilja Lied from the German Opera The Merry Widow which she sang for Henk Poort. Henk uses vocal distortion because Floor is a Symphonic Metal singer and uses all singing styles, even guttural.

Oh yes there should be no problem finding either the separate clips from BZ '19, or whole 1hr episodes (8 of them, 7x for each singer the rest singing for him, 8th one is duetts). With a bit is searching, you may even find those made by fans with English subtitles, so that you can understand their dialogues... best tip for that is either Jeniezelf or Denise Hofs... btw thanks to them!
