Phantom of the Opera officially ended its magnificent 35 year run on Broadway with a performance for Invited Guests only on Sunday April 16, 2023. This video is the night before, Saturday April 15th 8pm, the final performance for the PUBLIC and it was truly a Brilliant and Magical night. Video was taken from mid Center Orchestra of the Curtain Call and AMAZING post bow events. This night starred Laird Mackintosh (The Phantom of the Opera), Emilie Kouatchou (Christine Daaé) and John Riddle (Raoul, Vicomte de Chagny). Watch also for events FOLLOWING Curtain and Exit Music as an appreciative audience holding onto the final moments of Phantom musical could not bring themselves to leave the Majestic Theatre. The stagehands cued the ecstatic audience to participate in setting the chandelier in place, and the cast (now in their own clothing) one by one came back onto the stage and together sang "Happy Trails". Still, neither cast nor audience wanted to let go just yet and were pulled to remain together. Conductor Kristen Blodgette (her final performance) and many others joined All on Stage. We faced each other and shared in these beautiful yet final bittersweet moments. The emotions went far beyond the walls of the Majestic Theatre. For all those in NYC, the US and Worldwide who were not physically present, they too were part of this moment of thanks and gratitude for Andrew Lloyd Webber's beautiful musical, Charles Hart's lyrics and the direction of Harold Prince. This Video is uploaded in 4K High Resolution. 🚨*REFER TO PINNED COMMENT for EASY 3 step instruction how to view in 4K/HIGH Resolution (please note: any ads on this video are not placed by me).

Brigid, Thank You So Much for capturing this historic moment! I saw the original cast perform (a week before the Tonys), and returned to see the show once again this January. In between, saw performances in Vancouver BC, Los Angeles, Toronto, Seattle, Portland, and Vegas. There will never be anything like it again - even when it is, inevitably, revived.

Thank you for posting this. I was there for this performance and what happened after the show, I don't think anyone will experience anything like that again. It was a shock after the show that there was not even a speech prepared for the last final show to thank fans and public for all the support for 35 years. What did happen though was amazing, spontaneous and heartfelt. In the end it meant more than some flowery speech presented by one of the "powers that be" that was likely written for them by someone else. Nothing could top Nehal's lovely speech.

The SF production of Phantom back in 1994 was the first professional musical production I had ever seen, and it blew me away and was literally life changing as I have now seen over 100 professional productions. In fact I’ve seen Phantom 14x and 4x on Broadway. I saw this cast last December so was able to see Emily as the first African American Christine. Before that performance, I was lucky to witness more history with Ali Ewoldt a few years ago as the first Asian American Christine. I wish I could have been at this performance. Ok to quote Wicked now, I say to Phantom, “thank you for changing my life FOR GOOD!”
