that really isn't a hard feat considering people nowadays have awful taste. it does have some flaws but all comes down to it, it keeps a solid cohesive story throughout and I love this series
Keep it a secret. So help me if it gets defiled by anything modern. There are roughly 2-3 animes that even come close. This anime has only one true flaw before my eyes, and it's merely due to episode ordering. Cal is introduced at the start of season 2, however, within season 2, a timeskip happens. As a result, the aging of characters doesn't feel as earned since, from a real life time scale of "hours watching" or "hours between each viewing" doesn't feel long enough.
La segunda temporada es re flaca y la primera esta buenisima, pero es medio plagio de Leon el asesino. Me pasa lo mismo que con rainbow que es medio plagio de shawshank redemption

I may have it spelled wrong, though
I am Mongolian but i have never realized it. "Buuvee" is the Mongolian lullaby song. The word "Buuvee" is actually originated from "Buu ai" which means "dont be afraid".
Same, damn bruh this left me so empty even the ending. I watched it first around the same age as you. I'm turning 23. Imma rewatch it. Last time I watched it in English but now I learnt German. I'll try watching it in German after all they use Eins, Zwei, and Drei (German 1,2,3) 😅
It's interesting how everyone seems to prefer a typical happy ending... I can't say I don't enjoy happy ends as well, but to call it a shitty ending doesn't make sense to me. A depressing or sad ending makes you thinking longer and deeper about it.
The ending made sense of course, but the anime itself just made me furious at points. I still enjoyed watching it of course, but man, an anime has never made me so angry.
It's shitty ending because they adapted the true ending but changed the last minute,i don't like when they change drastically something in an ADAPTATION.
Kami kaz well in the same time, it seems a bit logical cuz the anime is named " requiem for the phantom" , so the end is THE requiem for him, i know that's sad but ...
@@champiggyfrm_pig5271 What do you mean? Things that makes me sad makes me sad, and I don´t like that feeling. I still can´t listen to even one second of Lilium from Elfen Lied to this day damnit
The fact that the Anime has some Plot holes but still manages to make an emotional attachment proves that the plot of the Anime was pretty good If there is a proper remake of this Anime explaining all the things with the same op and ost it would be wonderful 👍👍👍 (Sorry for Grammatical mistakes)
What plot holes? How Cal grew up fast? Because Scythe Master gave her hormones, I had that theory straight away when I saw her and I was right since I check if the answer was in the novels, it was indeed in them but it is not hard to understand it tbh even if it is not said in the anime. Was realistic. What other plot holes?
This show broke me. I've seen it 6 years ago, two times, and even after so much time has passed, I feel anxiety and a knot in my stomach... Yet I really appreciated it.
Easily one of the best animes I've seen to date. And yes, I do agree with a lot of commenters here, this anime deserves a lot more attention. Gen Urobuchi is a boss!!!
I did enjoy the show and the ending was perfect, but...what made me omit this from my "masterpiece list" was the second season amd the whole school arc with the blonde girl. I think they did that to lure usual anime fans back but it was very out of place for the show. First season and the ending would have been enough for me.
@@simulationryuuko4846 RIP. See, I came to this song to listen to it and remember good ole days, not to see a comment that would make me burst into laughter. Lol but thank you anyway.
Please play through the visual novel. It tells the story much more in depth. Plus the option for different routes is great as well. I personally liked Cal's route the most. :3
+yevon sama It was released in English back in 2003, but it was so obscure that I doubt many have heard of it. Mainly because it was released as a DVD player based game.

I'm 24 yo dude with a gf and I cried like a bitch when this ended. There are some wrong things with this series, but still I cried and I'm proud of it.
really? i watched it a few years back when I started into anime and I remember it was fine, but to the point of crying. Maybe I have to watch it again.

After everything that happens in this story, you want Ein and Zwei to have a happy ending but this story has one of the bleakest endings ever, Zwei gets killed by an unseen assassin and Ein commits suicide by eating a poisonous plant. Oh I'm sure the story ends on a high note for the sub characters, but dammit!
Never seen or expected such ending in any anime. Watched it recently and Goes in my top 5, Really recommendable to anyone who likes to watch some dark stories without any not needed fan service. 9.5/10 for sure
This is one of the most undervalued fucking anime although I agree with most people the last chapters lowered the quality, but Anime in general leaves you feeling difficult to explain.
Just finished watching this wonderful anime. And when i finish an anime and feel that emptiness i know for sure that i watched some good stuffs. I predicted that the ending would be sad and tragic for them from the very beginning, but that ending is what perfected it all.
the song is great regarding the anime I must say it starts of very well probably the best start to any anime ever but really falls off later untill the very end where the plot twist literally BLOWS U AWAY really a must watch
There are very few anime that I have watched which are worthy of multiple rewatches, this is the one at the top of the list. others are ghost hunt, kaze no stigma, gargantia, and elfen lied.
This anime is really tragic and its unlike any anime ive ever seen unlike other anime which have cute and happy scenes this anime has barely any only a few just like a live action movie would have, this anime was like a james bond movies mixed with hitman however with its own story and characters you usually dont see that in anime, this might be really tragic and fucked up but tell me something do you find tragic scenes in other anime, it’s all about being forced to kill people and then killing the ones who turned you into a monster, most anime is mostly about the protagonist killing someone evil that you dont know and you are mostly considered the hero while in here there is so such things as heroes.
FSM - The last episode was actually good. You are right tho, the third arc is dumb and a waste of time. Has some good parts like *SPOILER* Claudia's and Lizzie death but other than that it was really anti climatic. Also, don't get me started on how a 14 year old girl turned into a 6 foot tall D sized femme fetale assassin who has the same skill level as the originals.
acelinkiopzx Agreed, I actually just watched the last episode a couple days back. While a lot of people hated the ending, I think only something so bitter-sweet could work for such a series. However, I hate the wasted potential of the third arc. It would be much more interesting if it happened a few years later and ein and zwei had to deal with everyday life, like a boring office job. It would also explain cal's ageing. I also disliked how normal the phantom duo seemed. Surely they'd suffer from at least some minor PTSD after doing nothing but killing for their whole lives (at least what they remember of them). I just hate how boring they decided to make climax of this otherwise great show.
FSM - I totally agree. They just seemed as though it was another day rather than them having dramatic episodes in school or around. The ending was very poetic in my opinion and I would like a prequel which explains Ein's past and how she bacame a phantom and also shows Reji's life before he went to America.

everyone got a bit depressed by the ending because we all got very emotionally attached with the main characters but if you think carefully , that ending is what made this show one of the best i've seen . It tries to teach you something it makes you think about actions and consequences , it goes far beyond a tipical happy ending . I was sad that they died but that made this anime even greater .
pretty much spoils the ending.. Karma lol.. live by the gun die by the gun.. Dammit this anime is just to damn sad. It fills you with so many emotions and for such a dark anime for it to make you laugh a lot too. Anyways, Ein and Zwei make an awesome couple ^.^
Right, honest to god, this anime is shattering, utter brilliance and only here someone is talking about it. It's a shame and it's a crime. I guess I needed someone to hear me out. I can't deal with all that alone, although I'm rewatching it.
TOP sad song for me. 1.Karma(phantom) 2.sakura song(tsubasa chronicle) 3.lilium(elfen lied) 4.sabishi space(asobi ni iku yo) not original song 5.yafu yafu nano ni(R+V) i feel pity haha 6. dango(clannad) though it was and should be cute one but following the anime. i cant accept it as JUST cute T_T there many more just all didnt capture and trap my heart to listen and feel. well if you guys know recommend to me. ty ^_^
yeah i watched it . i forgot to put it. maybe its not my top sad song . it sad but you know i cant choose it properly. many are sad oso. like mirai nikki . and akame ga kill . but this one top 6 that i always listen . even when im about to sleep . XD
hahaha... i feel you man. crying in sleep XD . everyone got their opinion. i cant cry tho with angel beats. to me if i were to compare an sad ending i will cry on plastic memory rather than angel beats coz angel beats are more funny than sad. like hammer door. and trap and etc haha . when you repeatly rewatch the anime and listen to their song i believe you got the same feeling as me. if not we are stranger sharing sad feeling toward anime wkakka.
I feel ya. but despite the humor it's still the saddest to me. same with clannad after story (which is number two for me) it didn't break the story for me. for phantom, the ending I was like wtf just happened, but I figured it out and now it's really sad to watch for me.
Most people relates to this anime we might not be forced to kill people or forget emotion but we still are haunted by our past the world the way everything works, the way we are helpless in many situations
this was one of...no make that the best anime ive ever seen, it was so amazingly put together and the story and o my god the ending! ending was just...wow...it made me cry, i havent seen many animes that can do that, thumbs up if this anime also made you cry at the end!! make Eren smile with thumbs up! :)
It’s 2019 and I am only just watching this Anime, but wow... what an amazing gem! Okay so I’m confused as to why people are saying the title of this song gives away the ending of the show, I thought the title of the Anime did that the moment it included Requiem as part of the title... I don’t know... I think they want you to know the end from the beginning the way Claudia tells Zwei that his fate is sealed but he can control how he gets to his ending. I kinda think we are supposed to know this from the beginning but watch how it unfolds. This song is so well suited to it! Honestly this Anime is unique and so underrated but I knew with Gen Urobuchi in on it, it had to rock!!
It's been a year since I watched this anime. I watched only a couple of other titles during this time, I can hardly be called a fan of this genre. And yet this anime somehow mysteriously created some kind of mystery, a mystery that I still can’t understand. There is something in it that is not entirely clear, some kind of secret meaning, a message that could be a little ajar in the ending.
This is a huge blast from the past! This is a really good watch. Even if you're on of those who have to turn your brain off to do so I highly recommend giving this one a try.
Well, in my personal opinion, if this anime ends on episode 10 or 18, I would call it GREAT. The episodes past 18 are painful to watch. They turn over the elegance into shallow minded emotion. It is a pain to watch how Cal is driven by unreasonable hatred toward Reiji, it just doesn't makes sense at all to me. Such a childish emotion... Well, they have proper ending though, the episode 25 and 26 is a nice closure, so it still stands as a good series, but nothing special.
I know this is a rather old comment, but I think that's the point of Cal. She was taken in and turned into the next Phantom, but she wasn't controlled like Ein or deceived like Reiji. She was driven by hatred, because she thought Reiji abandoned her. That's what made her so weak in the end. She was driven by such a childish emotion.
I never liked an anime song, until I hear this one. And I loved this anime til the last 30 seconds of it. SPOILER ALERT: Imagine in The Last Jedi if everything was the same, except someone just came up to and shot Luke Skywalker at the very end after every celebrates the Imperial side loosing. Then credit roll and we get that ending. How fucked up of an ending would that make the whole movie. I know my opinion is probably going to get nothing but thumbs down, but thats my two cents.
@TheMystericaWitch The song is called karma because the main character Reiji never finds lasting happiness until the end when he pays off all his karmic crimes with death. In the entire series, he finds people who mean a lot to him but they are all taken away from him, just like he has taken people away from their families through assassination.
The ending is fine with me. They killed off Kal. But Elen stayed alive. And at the end. They went to the place she always had dreams of. If you payed attention to the anime. Remember when azuma remembered who he was with a passport? Thats when he told elen that her dreams were dreams of her past, and not just dreams.
eren dies as well..... the flower she picked up and ate was actually a poison flower. in addition she said that her memories till now were more than enough ( or something like that).
I felt that in the end when Reiji got shot, he didn't want to die. If he was shot and willing to die there, he would have not have stood so long after getting shot, felt like he's resisting it.
All the Anison and beautiful pictures and voices Asia I dream voice Lin tu chun et two children you raise me up peut les chanter quand je suis pas fatigué
I am absolutely furious that I can't find much evidence for this story ever having much of a fandom. This deserves to be remembered....with the exception of the anime-only ending.
