Playing this song as one of the soloists is an amazing experience.

This song is sooo good, I am playing the first cello solo.

I remember when I first heard this piece I pictured a girl lost in the woods, not knowing where she is, and this charming phantom is looking in the shadows seeing her and the girl ends up meeting him and she notices his charm and they chat a little and the phantom says"it's beautiful out, perfect for a midnight dance,....... Would you care to join me" And reluctantly she does They waltz away and she becomes more and more allured by him and as the piece continues she's more hypnotised by his looks then she starts to notice the scenery and it's beautiful. The nocturnal animals watching them as they dance so grace fully, the Spanish moss hanging from the trees, and looking up to the sky to see the moon in full being there source of light, and like their dancing on this tiled floor that has weeds and roots on the outsides of where they are dancing And then theirs on part in the music where its kind of playful kind of and it's as if the phantom is playing hide and seek with her in the shadows and he's like "ooo I'm over here, now I'm over here" And the girl is giggling trying to find him, and then she ends up being stumped because she can't find him and theirs a part in the piece where it starts to accelerate and gets louder to the climax and thats when the phantom goes behind her and swings her around and at that moment the girl truly falls for him and same with the phantom, because on every full moon he's always by himself with no one to talk to and it just so happened that this girl is lost in the woods this one full moon and he thinks she the most beautiful thing he has ever seen, and they being to waltz again and spin and as the music gets to the end the phantom realizes he has to leave And as the music ends he gives the girl a kiss on the hand and gives her one last spin and the girl is giggling cuz she's having so much fun until she stops spinning and sees the Phantom is gone And these leaves spin around her up to the sky and she is left looking at the moon heart broken and longing for his return And remembers him by the moon because his eyes twinked and shines brightly like that

Playing viola on this, it’s an extremely lovely piece especially towards the middle and beginning

Really gorgeous piece to play and listen to. I’m doing the viola solo option with my standpartner, and I must admit that it sounds at least as good on viola!! Also kudos to the orchestra as they really show a lot of maturity playing this piece.

Eii gotta represent cellos here. A very beautiful melody, but very simple. It doesn't change too much, as is typical of a waltz but instead it let's you actually take in how beautiful strings can be. 💜💜💜💜lovlovlov this song. We're doing The Legend of Sleepy Hollow too which is really fun
