I used to attend Nureyev performances four or more times a week and many of them were not top drawer. Yet with brilliant artists like him and Chudin...even their less than perfect presentations are still of great interest.
This was on an open stage and it was raining so the floor was really slippery. It is just normal that they were being extra careful and not going all out.
Was this part of a gala? Genia and Chudin are among my favorite dancers in the world but they are very different dancers whom I'm not sure I would have paired in this ballet because they seem to feel the footwork in very different ways. Yeah, the coda... I see Chudin do one of those "where am I?" falters twice. In other places, he's his usual spectacular self. Wondering (on the assumption this was a gala of some sort) if maybe they just didn't get much time to rehearse together or get the stage blocked well prior to performance?
