CORRECTION:
M3 action on ciliary muscle of the eye causes cyclospasm(spasm of the ciliary muscle to adjust the lens for near vision) NOT CYCLOPLEGIA (which is paralysis of the ciliary muscle by Atropine or Ganglion blockade) .

So nice.. But M3 receptor stimualtion causes cyclospasm(which is contraction of ciliary muscle leading to accomodation for near vision)not cycloplegia(it is paralysis of ciliary muscle caused by atropine leading to loss of accomodation).please confirm that.. The way of teaching is nice❤❤content is also good..

Yes! You’re right. It causes cyclospasm on M3 stimulation while when the M3 stimulation is withdrawn by ganglion blockade say or by Atropine, that causes paralysis if the ciliary muscle leading to cycloplegia. Blurred vision will be there in both cases. Thank you for the correction!

Such a beautiful presentation....tqsm for making this concept super clear.. But maam, Beta2 receptors are present in the eye which causes increase in aqueous humor and further increase in intra ocular pressure.

Hello mam In the last example , why not m2 receptor agonist ..as it will cause decrease in HR and BP?why would we go for m3 agonist? Please clear my doubt... You teach so well..its a great pharma series..thanku😊😊👌🏻

M2 receptors act on heart and thus decrease the overall activity of heart . We don't want bradycardia, we want a normal heart rate with only decrease in BP which could be achieved by blocking alpha 1 receptor on endothelial cells alone. As for M3 agonist she already explained all those side effects. That's what I think, I hope it's right :D
