This is a great overview for the average consumer to learn about the role of the PBM in today's healthcare! Thanks for sharing! I would love to see an additional video addressing underwater MACs, non-transparent DIRs, and PBM clawbacks! Let's keep spreading this!
This is why independent pharmacy owners are so upset. This is a travesty for our profession but in reality, it affects all business sectors...anyone who takes medication and any company or government entity who provides benefits to their employees. This is why I am passionate about my government affairs consulting. Our legislators need to be aware of what is happening.
Cigna (who owns Accredo/Express-Scripts!) will only fill 90 day supply of my medicine at their PBM Accredo... if I want to fill it at a local pharmacy or even a major chain like walgreens, they will only fill 30 days at a time!! There's NO explanation why this is, but its pretty clear to me it's anti competition!! California SB 966 is hoping to regulate these PBMs, if you are in California write to Gov Newsom and ask him to support it! Sad this video is 7 years old, explains the issue perfectly and is STILL HAPPENING today.. great video though, thanks, will share it
the best pharmacy service comes from independent pharmacies, PBMs and chain gave ganged up against this by stabbing their back as a safe harbor for their no so good customer or patient care
where some crack head swaps out the good drugs for tainted ones but the name checks out and the paperwork looks good. you can probably get the good ones on the street for cheaper. GO THAT ROUTE! 💪💯
