I totally agree with you, Jess. I fully understand that people are free to do as they please with their money, but I find it distasteful & tacky, too. Even if I had the wealth of the richest person in the world, I'd rather spend that money on helping people who need food, clothing & shelter and donating to animal shelters & other worthy causes.
