It's disappointing they didn't make the Indigenous artists more central to the collection, would have been a big opportunity for a lot of people and would have been nice to see. Thank you for the thoughtful and interesting video, though! Cheers from Australia 💛🖤❤

I agree. It would have been great for LV to have done more for them. Where in Australia are you? It's a dream of mine to visit one day. Thanks so much for watching! I hope you'll subscribe for more fashion content.

I can see LV thinking that they paid the artist to create the original design and it was nothing more to them. I love their bags but I have never gotten the impression the company was anything more than greedy. I don’t ever see the designs with a price point that the average person is going to be able to afford. Would rather buy a garment, bag, or blanket from the artist. I have a coat that my father had commissioned by the artist for my mother. The craftsmanship is unreal. My father paid more that if he had gotten it from LV but the artist was paid on not a corporation.I love Ralph Lauren clothes and the native designs. I hope that when I wear turquoise jewelry or a native design garment, people see that I love and appreciate the beauty and am not trying to steal the native heritage. I do think that people should not wear the headdress

Thank you so much for watching and sharing your views. I agree that the best way to support native artists is to buy from them directly. That coat sounds amazing. Not only does it sound incredibly well made but it's unique! Not something you and a million others grabbed at a fast-fashion store. And your father supported an artist and their community by doing so. I love that! I would say most Native designers sell their jewelry and non-ceremonial garments to non-natives because they want their art, culture and traditions to be appreciated. As long as you're not pretending to be Native or somehow exploiting their communities (which I know you're not!), then I can't imagine anyone thinking you're stealing or appropriating. Thanks again for watching and leaving a comment! ❤

Well said, Jessica. I appreciate this post. I grew up amid several reservations in Arizona. Always buy direct from the artist. I hope Pharrell steps up. I was surprised and disappointed that he didn't share credit. I don't like LV.

Weren't the original cowboys Spaniards/Mexicans? Native Americans have their own swag
@jessicayflores

Yes, just remember that “Mexicans” aren’t necessarily a separate group from Native Americans. Especially during the late 1600s/early 1700s.

Um you no there were black Indians duh
@jessicayflores
@jessicayflores 2 месяца назад
Yes, I do know there were and still are black Indians. The Mardi Gras Indians are perhaps one of the most famous ways that heritage is celebrated in the United States. What does that have to do with Pharrell partnering with indigenous craftsman for this collection and not crediting those specific artists in an appropriate way (at least that’s the criticism discussed in this video)?
