Phase is totally amazing and a no Brainer to have. It is definitely moving with technology and a must have for djs using turntables. Phase is the future!!!
I never thought that djing would actually become a job for me. 5 years ago, I was just goofing off in my bedroom with all this stuff and now I’m debating which turntable to get because it has become my passion!! Thanks for all of your amazing vids man!
I’ve been djing close to 30 years. I don’t own a set yet but after playing on 1200’s vinyl and cdj 1200’s(sl-1200dz) in clubs , house parties, etc. I can see how phase will allow you to still play on your turntables without worrying about needle or record wear . Also vibration from speakers and the person who bumps your table. It’s definitely my next purchase for my set up. Great video!!!! 💯
D j's hate. Using turntables because they cannot DJ controllers are so easy. Who wants a controller? You can mix with 2 turntables 1200s. You are a real DJ let's keep this real.
I just picked up a pair…and it’s brought me full circle realizing that the part I may have enjoyed most about djing was the 12” motorized platter. Boom.
I had no idea Phase was the method DJs were using vinyl without the needle! I never noticed those little rectangles on the turntables! It's honestly so cool how far music technology has come in the last few years. I'm sure thirty years ago people never even thought that one day it would be possible to use vinyl without needles. I'm completely blown away that these exist. Awesome stuff!
I always thought Phase was a crazy and innovative tool and I’ve always wanted to try it but I heard when it first came out it had trouble. Seeing it now I feel like every turntablist that doesn’t have Rane 12s has a Phase
I do not know if this video is sponsored or not but for me the phase DVS system is the best for any situation considering that a pair of ortofon cost much more than the phase ! The only difference is that a dj that use real vinyl feel the sound with the hand ! The combination of loops and hot cues makes the DVS the future of old school djing . Thank you carlo .
Carlo, thanks so much for this awesome review of Phase! You've been supporting our product since day one and saw every step of how it has been evolving. And thanks to the honest reviews from guys like you and the community, Phase has become what it is today. So thanks once again! 🙏
Thank you as well for the continued innovation in the industry and support y'all! You guys are truly groundbreaking and exceptional. Can't wait to see what else the team has hidden up their sleeves. Cheers you guys! 🥳
I practice scratching a lot at home using DVS, and I'm beginning to see why Phase would be better in the long run. I still like vinyl, but at least with Phase, I can preserve the life of my needles by limiting the use of them for true vinyl sets (as opposed to burning up my needles on DVS).
I bought this after watching this video, and for the life of me, I cannot get it to work with Serato Dj Pro... Do I have to get a subscription to use the HID function, as I cannot see the settings to select the decks with the Phase on??? I read that I needed to select "Sel", but I cannot see that??? Any help would be appreciated.
@@djcarlo Yes... I am using a Mixar Primo. That connects to my MacBook and the Phase connects to my MacBook. Do I have to subscribe to serato to get the HID function running... It's very confusing working stuff out with the Serato software and addons
I learned and started my Dj path using vinyl 27 years ago. This is where I learned to use the pitch control all the time to adjust the bpm. Then, started using CDJ100 with CDs, then eventually USB then controller. But the feel of vinyl is still the best. When I heard about Phase in 2019, i knew it was going to be a game changer cause it will eliminate all the problems you just pointed out on your video. Been saving for it ever since. When I see my dj friends in Manila use Phase, i get so jealous. Hahaha. I will get mine soon. Positive thinking 😂
I THINK I DIDN T FIND BETTER CHANNEL THAN YOUR. i WORK IN A ART BOARDING SCHOOL WHERE THE KIDS LEARN ABOUT DJING AS WELL AND WE WERE THINKING ABOUT PHASE, since that they keep on destroying the needles (kiiiiids hahaha) as weel as for me phase will be an amazing solution, i was hesitating for a long time but you really motivated me to go for it. thank for doing a such great job your channel tutorial and other content are amazingly well made and are really helpful. please keep helping the community cause you are doing a great work 🤟😊🤘
I just bought phase and It’s a game changer i use it with VDJ via RCA man its the way to go for DVS kept me away from buying controllers and still using my PLX1000 and S9!
GOOD INFO LIKE ALWAYS DJ CARLO I LOVE THE INFO AND THE KNOWLEDGE YOU HAVE THANKS AGAIN IM SOLD ON THE PHASE BEEN A DJ SINCE 1988 AND ALWAYS LOOKING FORWARD TO MAKE THE MUSIC SOUND BETTER IN ANY VENUE .
Phase looks interesting, I initially held off from making the purchase about 2 years ago but fast forward to today and I'm now a believer! Looking forward to giving it a proper shot in the near future...
I just bought my first turntable and a few vinyls but i have trouble with the needle adjustment because whenever i scartch the records more dynamically it skips back so whenever i can afford i will go for the phases
There's usually a way to solve that via balancing the tonearm. Or it could be that your needle isn't meant for scratchwork. In any case, Phase does help out with that!
I've stopped using vinyle after way too many "accidents" leaving records scratched because of a bump in the table but I've been looking at phase for quite some time and might give it a go, I love controllers but the feeling isn't the same
I currently have Phase and love it but need a second unit to replace my current one, As my right-side phase, the remote is always dying faster (battery life) than the other one. They will be equally charged but the right side always dies twice as fast.
@@djcarlo Thank you Brother, Hopefully, if I get another one in the future I will not have this problem. Also, thanks for all your videos it really says a lot when you are near the top or at the top, you still find the time to teach us. Once again. Thank you!
As a Bedroom DJ and hobbist. I started my set up with Turntables but I have been looking for an opportunity to try out Phase. I am tired of using my needles as sometimes they skip or I get feedback from dust. I hope that I am not to late to enter the giveaway.
I have to agree Jerry! There's also the factor of needles being pricey, coupled with vinyl being harder to get, but at least Phase can merge the digital and analog for many newer DJs should they want it!
Definitely would be a great convenience replacing the concerns of the delicacy of needles when it comes to transport and handling especially by others.
I got one of the early ones with the faulty battery, and I tried to return it under warranty and it... didn't go smoothly. Other than the poor battery (which they've apparently sorted out now), they are fantastic
Yeah, some of us early adapters got the short end of the stick (like all tech), but hey, they still work pretty great for me, and now, the new ones REALLY last a while! Glad you're enjoying Phase as much as I am Brian!
Bingo Seba! Your latter point is something a lot of critics seem to miss out on. Legit one of the reasons why DVS in itself is such a modern miracle for me!
phase looks super interesting!! i'm not a pro turntablist but hey, we all start somewhere right? the whole concept behind phase is really innovative, i can't wait to see what the team cooks up next
Right?! Even when your turntables are perfectly balanced, your needles are new, and your record is clean, there are so many external factors that can STILL make your needle jump!
Been using shure m447 for a long time. Fortunately I had them stacked for backups. I'm down to my last back pair. This would be a good time to try something new.
🎉 ❤️💛💚 📀WHATS UUUUPP DJ CARLITO‼️‼️‼️‼️Love your channel Carlito!! You've made me get back into not only DJing but music completely again after 10-12 year or so of playing the adult game. but I'm back up and out there I have a Halloween party today infact and a gig almost every other weekend now 🙏and soon hope you start playing in our local brewery's and bars . All thanks to you . I went all after picking up the ddj-flx6 because off your video. Now I'm rocking SMJ-11 with 8000mk2 I had too go vynal it's what I stared with way way back when scratch live OG came out. I was sceptical of the phases but after hearing what you have to say I'm just going too have to pick some up then. Love what you're doing and all the help you give the community . 🙏 Thanks again ❤❤❤❤
I've had confusions regarding phase working and technicality. by watching your videos all questions are answered automatically thanks you for all these great explanatory videos.
I'm thinking of purchasing this but 1 thing come's to my mind: what about when the PHASE rechargable batteries don't charge any longer after several year's of use? Are the batteries replacecable or would I need to buy another pair of controllers? I really don't want to buy disposable controllers for over 400 dollars. If this is the case, PHASE should give djays this option, especially for what they charge.
I've been using Phase for a year now, it's the best invention for DJs released in the last few years, no more problems with playback and in all circumstances.
Been using turntables since the 90s and gave them up for a controller. But wow! Phase looks like a technology that could bring them back and allow me to use them again. There is nothing like the feel of vinyl.
To me as to many others Phase is a massive game changer! I've had my eye on it for quite some time now and would really love to have my hand on a unit! 😍
Hi, I've been watching the growth of Phase since its inception.. I've been dj'ing since the 80's. I'm also a gadget geek. However, I didn't have the opportunity to try the Phase and, I couldn't afford to purchase them because life it's unaffordable to me at this time especially, raising a family. One day, maybe i'll have the chance to get them. In the meantime, I'll continue to watch this phenomenon grow and flourish. Salute!!!
First use Technics 1210, second use a good Cartridge I like Ortofon Scratch the pink one, third check your table stand accurately, fourth check it with a dragonfly scales. Then pump it up!
That's actually my method for using turntables! The only problem is, if the venue doesn't have the right kind of table or set up, you're gonna have a hard time. I actually prefer Jico cartridges, since the M447's are long gone
I think these are brilliant. A few months back I had both needles go. Getting replacement a week from my return gig was expensive and hard to source. Many thanks Carlo Peace Shumzs
PHASE, the most ever hardware created for DJ's. Thanks for make me save money in buying expensive needles. Now I can mix with confidence anytime. Amazin product.
I haven't tried them yet but I've played on vinyl, scratch live, cdjs and controllers. I like trying new tech. I bring the rane one out for gigs but the technics are set up at home and ready for this upgrade, when I'm not playing actual vinyl.
$500 price tag doesn’t justify the unit. Powered platters like Rane 12, Rane performer, or Pioneer Rev 7, Reloop 8000 gives vinyl experience for scratch djs.
I get you, but tbh, I'd say this actually gives the most authentic experience as you need to use this with actual vinyl turntables. It just takes out the risk of accidentally hitting the tone arm
Have been Going Back and forth as 2 what setup do I wanna Up grade 2. Its between the Rane mk12 or techniques whit the option of phase.Thos Vid has Definitely helped. Now all I need 2 know is will their be a sale in the holiday season. Would hate 2 drop all that bread and it go on sale
@@djcarlo Tru Dat..I was thinkingthe Cyber Monday or the Blj fri sales. so now it come down 2 Mom and Pops Dj Equipment spot or a a more commercial spot like a guitar center
Dope. Review. I been having a few issues with mines but overall, it’s a dope product and it continues to give my turntables life again when I need a break from my controller. 🔥💪🏾🔥
Phase is totally amazing and a no Brainer to have. It is definitely moving with technology and a must have for djs using turntables. Phase is the future!!!
Yeah once I get my second turntable I’ll definitely get some phase units cause setting up needles is a pain and every bump being audible is annoying. Especially when drunk cause I’mma knock something lol
Really glad phase got so well received by the DJ community, I want to get into using turntables but having to deal with needles and stuff scares the life out of me
Phase is an amazing product and more accurate than any motorized jog controller. But I would be more happy if they would make a special vinyl instead that have a colour touch display/label in the middle (for browsing and selecting, and it shows the cue stickers with the label art. The rest of the disc could be the battery and the phase sensors. Also would be nice to work with SDJ without any additional dvs support (SL boxes are dead, only denon's box works and I would happily use Vestax, Rodec, UREI mixers....)
Okay, now THAT is a creative vision right there MadaM. They way technology is going, I wouldn't be surprised if someone came up with a concept for that!
Unfotunately I had this like a decade ago.... except the phase controller. I also have a concept of a Gapless Advanced Pitch (G.A.P.) like 25 years now. :( Having 33.3, 38.6, 45 and 52,8 RPM speeds and all with the well known +-8%.... they just reach eachothers, and simply double-tapping the 33.3 will enable the 38.6, or double tapping the 45 would enable the 52.8 RPM while single push is the 'normal 33/45.... Way better than Vestax's ultra pitch.... Ah, and could be made on dj SW... much better than altering the pitch-range,like 16,25,50%...
I can't buy a mixer anywhere in Poland with the DVS system. I think it will be a perfect option if you want to learn to play classic vinyl. best regards DJCARLO😁🎛
As a tried and true "vinylist" this was long overdue and I have been able to combat and overcome all of those challenges I faced back in the day. This was a great video demonstrating the benefits of this tool and preservation of the 1's and 2's!
I may just be biased because I started on vinyl, but the feel hits different! They may be expensive in Colombia, but believe me, the price of buying needles stacks up haha
I've been a subscriber of your page for a while and been watching your videos. Thank you for sharing all of this and being an inspiration to us. I started DJing 2016 and had few gigs with just low TF. I saved up to have a turn table and here in the Philippines, turn tables needles are a bit expensive and I've been experiencing skipping music specially when I am doing the gigs that's why I am very careful when I am practicing and doing the gigs. Phase has been in my save up and wish list for a while now because I really want to have one. This is really a game changer! You won't have to worry about skipping and jumping music just like when you use the needle. Hoping I get to choose to be a winner for this. I really want this badly!
It really is a game changer here buddy! Really genius idea for those using turntables. Given that, hang tight for the announcement of the winners, and good luck!
I started dj'ing after seeing all the vinyl dj's during the breaking battles I used to do, but since I realised that breaking was not for me, I took up digital dj'ing. But I would love to learn how to dj using Vinyl, and I think phase bridges that gap perfectly, getting to know the world of vinyl, while not being completely in the dark.
Thanks Carlo - I've kept a loose eye on phase since it came out waiting for the issues to be ironed out and it looks like we're there. Maybe now I can ditch my 8 squash balls and paving slab isolation method for big festivals. Like with music production and the move from analogue desks to in the box all legacy tech has its advantages and pitfalls - eventually it gets superseded enough to replace or at least augment. I still love my decks for the feel and no controllers have really come close - but I don't think I will miss wiping sweat off records and fluff and ash off a needle. Awesome. Combine this with new Serato Stems and I think I'll have the tools to unleash full creativity with A+ convenience.
Unfortunately no. Scratch Live has been discontinued for quite a while now, and the idea of Phase is to replace the SL boxes (which are also no longer supported by Serato)
I didn't buy mk1 versions of anything, so just make a mk2 version cause I've been holding myself to buy one. You're right, dvs sometimes is a pain in the ass, mostly on big stages... Thanks for the great vid
🎶😎🫡🎧 A great tool to use … I appreciate the video and last nite when my needle broke on my turntable I stared looking at the phase equipment and it’s a game changer and after my research I came across you video … Thanks again
I was using turntables for a very long time but like you stayed in your video the needles break and even if I used to use the offons needles they weren't as doable so this might be a plus
Nice thing - djing since 2004 and after the rane scratch live 1 outdated still djing with it and my djm600 with two 1210 m5g 😅 now i want to actualize my tools and hope I can win phase so only need new mixer or have to buy the rane one in next months and get rid of the needle problems
Always wanted to get my hands on Phase, it is amazing tool for DJs, and since I have vinyl but don't understand how to set up needle correctly (Been struggling with this for over a month) it would be an amazing solution!
I was torn about using DVS or a Controller but; after seeing DJ Carlo and Jazzy Jeff take total command as Turntable DJ, I have now decided that Phase is the correct choice. Also no worry about buying needles anymore to get that vinyl feel.
@@djcarlo I think from traveling in the road case In and out. It used to be slightly bent but now it skates quite a bit and skips about halfway into the record.
🎼Trick or treat, smell my feet,... Aww You Djs should already know the rest. Happy Halloween 2022 to you @DJ Carlo and everyone reading this. You and this platform rock, thank you for taking the time to do what you do. What made you want to the journey into music? Family, Friends, other?
Hmmm, fascination for scratchwork I guess! I know I saw some old DMC videos, and some other DJs who rocked the decks here in The Philippines, and I was inspired to make something out of myself!
@@djcarlo I was 15 (once upon a many moons ago). My local DJ so happened to to leave his set up the night of my celebration party and I've been digging crates every since. I hardly understand it at the time even tho i have music in the family but this (DJ'ing and music) saved my life many times over. Thanks for the reply, and thanks for opportunity to talk about something that truly makes my day.
Great job DJ Carlo. I am a subscribed member, i have liked the video, downloaded the brochure, and would love to get a hold of the Phase. I learned how to scratch with your training video i ordered. Currently trying to upgrade my gear to turntable. Phase will be an excellent choice over the needle any day.
Hello. I'm sorry for my bad English.... I have a question... that I haven't found the answer. I have a Rane SL3, 3 Technics and a Phase Essential... My question is... if I buy another phase... can I use the other phase for the 3rd Technics? Or can you only have one phase per computer? Thank you very much for your work
@@djcarlo Thank you so much. I've always used the 3 Technics I have, both to act as a traditional DJ and a Turntablism DJ. I'm sure you can get more information than I can. Thank you very much and maximum respect
Just got into turntables after using them in a few club settings. Really excited to continue practicing and a lot of my peers have spoken volumes on how this has eased their mixing!
