Bangkok Paya Thai Palace. The palace was build in 1910 when this are was on the outskirts of the city. Now it is in the city center near Victory Monument.
Construction started in 1909 during the reign of King Rama 5. You can reach the Palace by BTS, you can go to Victory Monument station and walk from there. The entrance fee is 40 THB. There are tours at 09:30, 11:00 and 15:00

Phayathai Palace is a marvelous early 20th century Royal Residence in the heart of Bangkok. As it stands a bit out of sight, it is not much known and seldom visited, especially by foreign tourists.

The palace itself doesn’t attract people who are passing by, hiding in the hospital and government areas. People don't feel like to look inside. More public information needed to encourage tourism.

I have been there a few years ago to take some photos of the palace. At that time, I was very lucky to be able to explore the whole building without joining a tour. I had a great opportunity to see all rooms especially the master bedroom and an en-suite bathroom (and it's free). This palace was once opened for tourists as a luxury hotel. It was considered as one of the very first hotels in Thailand. It's good that we don't see many people getting busy with photos or selfies like in most tourist spots. The connecting area (now opened as Cafe Norasingh) used to be a waiting area and a room for playing billiard for King Rama 6.

I have heard that inside the property of Phya Thai Palace, Thailand’s first cafe for people to enjoy coffee was built during the reign of King Rama VI when Thailand was still called Siam. It was named Cafe de Norasingha, which still exists today. It would be nice to have lunch and coffee or tea after finishing a place tour.

nice piece of architecture. didn´t expect something like that in bangkok. hidden gem. off topic : are there some more "unusual" restaurants like Tawandang German Brewery (Rama 3) in Bangkok ? back in 2018 i had a very nice dining experiece there... great stage show and whole stuff was involved... keep on with you very informative videos, i love them.

Is a very nice series of buildings, lucky Rama V. Some offices and condos have spectacular views over the grounds. Very easily could fit in Europe. With so many gems on your channel you could be a jeweller

What's a pity that this Palace has left only some of the best you can see now. The rest was demolished a long time ago to expand the hospital.

Very beautiful! Reminds me a bit of old Los Angeles where you see buildings like this from the early 20th century when there was this style of building going on to mimic the east coast of the US and Europe by many east coast US transplants and immigrants.

Recommend Suan Pakkad Palace. It's on Sri Ayutthaya Road and opens as a private museum from 9:00-16:00 hrs.

In Thailand everything gets translated from the Thai alphabet into English. This makes sometimes different sprllings possible. Such as Chidlom and Chit Lom

@@globaltravelmate The Royal Institute of Thailand determines the Thai General System of Transcription (RTGS) of Thai words into the Latin alphabet. ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Thai_General_System_of_Transcription ). All official place names will use this system and Google should too. Where it gets tricky are informal words and many Thais are clueless about the RTGS system so just make something up.
