I love hearing about your research- it's incredibly interesting!! My research heavily revolves around subjectivity but not in relation to digital media or anything like that so I find I always learn something new or get to see another cool perspective thanks to you!

I totally agree about learning writing skills that we don't always use! I'm still in undergrad but some of my classmates and I talk about this a lot. We have a mix of English majors here who are also education majors or creative writing majors, I'm one of the few that's solely an English major. At times I feel like I'm missing out on improving my writing skills outside of critical analysis. Being able to write about these topics in depth is great, but I feel like the creative writing/English majors get the best foundation to a) Write in their own voice and b) Write in a way that's more engaging and enjoyable to read. So I'm just spending some extra time writing creatively to improve how I engage with different texts and topics :')

Hi Sarah! Hearing you talk about podcasts made me think…have you heard of Pedagogue, a podcast about mostly writing professors talking writing. It’s very rhet/comp focused, and you may find tons of ideas/ insights there for your research. Def would recommend episode 20 with Dr. Vershawn Ashanti Young & episode 30 with Dr. Jody Shipka as starting points if you haven’t! Love your vlogs!

Love your vlogs! I would love to hear more about how you use notion for your diss (and perhaps other things)!! On the topic of the diss, my advisors have told me that I should plan to write my intro last-I wonder what your advisor's intention is behind you having your write your intro first? I'd love to know!

Hi Sarah, it was great to hear you talk more about your research. I wonder if you feel that the North American system of coursework for 3-4 years and then dissertation has set you up well for research of the kind you’re entering into? Have your ideas about what your dissertation will cover changed drastically since you entered the PhD programme? And lastly, I’d love to hear you talk more about “feminine writing,” what it means to you, how it can avoid essentialism, etc.! Thank you for your insight 😁

Oooof these are big questions! Yes and no for the first one. Nothing can really fully prepare you for grad school. I really wish I did my masters first tbh. My research topic changed a looooot since I entered grad school, but that’s not too uncommon for the BA->PhD route! I’ll talk more about my research specifics in future vlogs ❤

Hey hey! You mentioned subjectivity and embodiment, and so I was wondering if you'd be engaging Foucault in your dissertation? (I also heard you mention Lacan and "no" to highly theoretical stuff so I know it's a stretch lol)
