Yerp. No denying Phil's chops. You have to give him props also for recognizing that Chester is one of the most capable and reliable drummers of all time.
Tim Barham ....Man you people are complaining about him .My people or so called "Indians" know who Phil Collins is in the first place.Sounds bizarre so much for Rock n Roll. Sad and Confused at the same time.
@@dbmdrums1105 Have another drink so we can all read your incohesive rants and get more confused. Who the fuck even knows what you are talking about. Even you don't I'll bet.
I can't get enough of this one. I love the way they play off each other. I would have loved to be right there. I love the Phil and Chester get the zone. Way out there man!!!!
I saw them do this in Houston (Tx). About seven (7) times. You are right. WOW !!! Actually, I don't think that this is even the best of the Phil/ Chester duets. They have other more spectacular duets. Maybe someone else will submit one/ some? If you have something ... the GENESIS world is waiting ! :-)
I think Chester and Phil to be the best Drummers in the World, I missed it at the time, had no money or job in the 80,s even had to look for dropped potatoes outside Plymouth market, nothing to eat, tough times cooking in a kettle, but the weather was best.
+Seven Stones Thank you so much for this gem! Watching two master drummers having the time of their lives entertaining us! So, so good! Phil Collins used his God-given talents to the best of his ability! Phil always surrounded himself with complementary excellent musicians and they all made each other better! Thanks again. God Bless!
Excuse my language but how fucking amazingly powerfully rhythmically delicious is that? My lord. You don't know you need it until you've heard it. Probably the best band in the world, ever.
This is no slam against Chester, who is an absolutely brilliant drummer, but notice how Chester tends to play with both hands close together, while Phil is doing different things with his two hands. I'm not saying one is better than the other, but it's a fascinating insight into how different drummers play.
Phil's technique is quite unique really, isn't it? And the way he sits so low on his kit, while Chester sits really really high. Different approaches, but there is something special in the way Phil approached the drums...
Tarun Karthik Thats their way of expressing themselves! I am a quiet reserved person but when I hop on my kit and get going thats the only way ive ever been comfortable and confident has always been behind the kit. Same w Neil Peart reserved but on the kit a total beast and really comes alive.
Phil is definitely one of the best drummers of all times cuz he does the right thing he's very creative he's not like some guys will you can see okay he's doing a paradiddle or a Swiss Army triplet
I feel grateful to have witnessed all of these tours and they were spectacular. Did not make. OMG still amazing- even more so now! These guys were incredible!!!!
He grew his beard & hair in 1979-1980 during the Brand X & Duke tours...look at all the 1980 Duke footage & video clips. The ballroom gig was a BBC broadcast from May 1980.
i've always loved Phil Collins' drumming - but, I never ectually liked the drum duets. I always thought they were quite boring in comparison to Phil's drum parts in the songs (especially the old ones). To me, the drum duets are "basic" and quite cliched... but this opinion is coming from a genuine collins-drumming fan
Except Chester NEVER played any drum part the way Phil played it on the record (Genesis or solo). He couldn't do it so he made the parts his own. Phil had a very unique sense of time and feel that Chester never was able to duplicate. Sorry, but Chester was maybe a better technical drummer but just couldn't play like Phil.
