I’ve just come across this and find the instrumental very good. I like how it is sung but clearly no one can get close to the passion Phill Collins brought to it. Nice effort though. Compared to Kelly Clarksons version, you guys smashed it.

My first thought was - "well this isn't going to work without the iconic fretless bass line" and I was hovering over the dislike button..... but within a minute I was so blow away by the rest of the production I forgot all about that and pressed the like button! Great job, a fantastic cover. Incredibly well recorded and produced. I humbly eat my "but the fretless bass is missing" hat, because you made it work!!!

This rendition highlights just how much Phil (and the other Brits) had deeply immersed himself in soulful Black music. The bluesiness and black gospelness shines through from the core of his voice; Hall and Oates and others as well. Here that essential element seems lost or maybe it was never soaked up.

At the 2:50 point in the video, Gabby and Celo make this cover their own!! At the 4:00 point in the video if Celo’s lead guitar doesn’t give you goose bumps then be prepared to have your heart melted by Gabby’s voice! From that point until the end makes this one of the best covers on all of You Tube!

One of my favorite Phil songs. I've been listening to this and Take Me Home on my headset going for walks in the evening watching the sunsets. It's a good way to feed the soul and social distance ;) As always great vocals and I really like the sound of the Yamaha bass. Even the cheaper Yamaha guitars and basses I've played sound really good.
