MY WIFE AND I WERE IN THE ARENA Almost a spiritual experience many many people crying at the end!!! JUST SO THANKFUL OF THIS EXPERIENCE. Sometimes they say you have to see it to believe it we saw it and still don’t believe it.
Wow! I've seen Phil Collins (solo) live twice, but never in Europe. That must have been wicked! I've described this song live as an orchestra of musical fireworks. It resonates on a cellular level. So amazing! I didn't catch this one, but I did see him in Madison Square Garden. The crowd walks out still singing Take Me Home together. It's fantastic.
So much talent to do this. He has to actually keep 5 separate beats. One for each hand, one for each foot and one for his voice. This man is a musical icon
Seeing Phil Collins live is a religious experience. This live video is one of my favorites. That single song was worth the entire concert. I could have left feeling ecstatic if that had been the only song played.
anybody gonna mention that there's no cymbals on his drum set....it was designed that way for the maximum drum effect....the most iconic drum drop in music history...
The guitar strums at the start made my hair stand up. It was like HELLO!!!!!!! And then the drums drop. Fkn wow. Note to self. Never piss off Phil Collins or the world will know bout it. ❤😂
I do air drums everytime no matter where I am. Pounding the steering wheel on my way to work! Or on my school bus. ( When I'm alone on the bus) 🥁🎸🎶🎧🎙️ This song is one of the greatest songs he put out in the 80'sand has climbed the billboard charts every summer. Because radio stations play this kind of music every year so it will continue to climb the charts every year. 40 plus years it's been out and yet it continues to shock everyone who sees the live broadcast from Paris. But please do everyone a favor. DON'T PAUSE THE DRUM SOLO. AFTER YOU SEE IT, THEN BY ALL MEANS BACK IT UP AND LISTEN AND PAUSE IT ALL YOU WANT. BUT THE 1ST TIME WATCH IT THROUGH....🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁 ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL AN AMAZING! Such a shame he can't play the drums anymore. But I have heard his son took his place as the drummer and he's is amazing!❤️🥁🎶🎧🎙️❤️
A Legend and Master at work! Phil is a world class drummer with an outstanding voice. A true musical ICON. I am the only 1 who gets massive chills at the drum drop? Phil and this song are IMMORTAL one of the greatest performance ever given. The greatest drum drop of all time!
I'm sure for everyone in the audience of this live performance this was an unforgettable event. Even watching this video from 20 years ago is still a memorable experience.
"Merlin" with the long beard is Lee Sklar - he's played on over 2000 albums with artists from Linda Ronstadt to Toto to James Taylor. Talented and funny.
Being a drummer Phil is one of my all time top favorites for a lot of reasons. One big reason is that Phil is left handed and plays the set reversed, like I do, to how a right handed drummer plays a set. Left foot plays the base drum right foot on the high-hat (Clap cymbal), and the tom-toms start with the smallest on his right side, progressing around to the left with the biggest tom ending around on his far left.
Teenage me had goosebumps and almost cried, 57 year old me is so impressed that you young men knew this song and I love that you loved it!! Thanks for bringing me a wonderful flashback! Keep it up!!
That was awesome!!! All 3 of your heads bobbing together brought back so many memories of me and my boys doing the same back in college in 1983, and I still get chills listening to this. 😅
That was...Dude! Far better than the studio version. Knowing he cannot do this anymore, I really wish I had been there to see this. What a performance!
No one and I mean no one in my opinion is greater than Phil Collins at putting on a phenomenal live performance and his music is some of the very best music of my generation and I have seen this live performance 100 times or more and it still gets me every time !!! Full body chills!!!!
well infact wasnt it phil collins who was heard saying HOW THE FUCK ARE WE TO FOLLOW THAT ? after queen just finished performing at live aid. i think youll find the very best live performers were Queen, though of course phil was bloody good but playing live queen were the alpha performers nobody topped them.
I have been a huge Phil fan for years and my daughters who weren’t really into Phil bought me tickets for this concert for my birthday. I went with one of my daughters and by the end of this song we were both in tears. ( She’s a huge Phil fan now too!) 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Omg this is one of the best reactions. The simultaneous bobble head action, and the guy in the middle fighting back from wanting to play air drums was amazing!
Phil was in Genesis, and was well known for being in the band. But his solo career brought him far more fans and he is far better known for his solo career.
I grew up listening to Genesis and then going on to Phil Collins, when he was just starting out. LOL The song Home By The Sea is phenomenal, and highly, highly underrated. And one of the creepiest songs ever. LOL Everyone should think about giving this song a listen. My favorite by them. The entire album Genesis, by Genesis is a solid hit after solid hit. Kind of a British Hotel California
I read somewhere that phil could play the drums to a degree but one day he hooked up with the talented musician mike oldfield and showed phil some great how to do,s and after that phils ability on the drums was amazing. heads up to mike oldfield. from the classic tubular bells
Tis very true about the drums. Peter Gabriel had this style of drumming on most of his albums many years after he left Genesis. Testament to the power and influence of Phil Collins!
THAT WAS EPIC!!!!! Wow you didn't know he was the drummer Nick?🤔 Genesis🤔 all in fun Nick please don't take it personally it's funny he is one of the best drummers on the planet and the bassest is legendary....love you guys reactions❤
Re Nicholas Collins, he first started touring with his father at the beginning of 2016, when he was still 15! He’s been the drummer for Phil and for Genesis ever since. A tremendously talented drummer, especially when you consider Nic was learning to play the drums at age 1-1/2. He just turned 20 last month (April. 2021) . And Nic also plays piano!
Daryl Stuermer has been performing as secondary drummer for Phil for decades & I CANNOT BELIEVE not one of you air-drummed along with the iconic drum fill ! ! ! :O
Love listening to your reactions. I am one of your older listeners. This song holds a very special spot in my heart. It was the last song my fiancee and I listened to before he left for his job (Geothermal driller) for a few weeks. I never saw him again, he was killed in a horrible accident. A logging truck ran him off the road and he and his partner went down 100 feet into a river we knocked out as far as they could tell, and they drowned. He was not wanting to go on this job, and this song came on the radio as we were saying good-bye. I didn't know it would be forever. Love your reactions, keep on reacting!!
This is the first live reaction video I have watched where the video was not paused several times .. I sooooo LOVE that!! Thank you for not pausing the video during the song … so many you tubers ruined it by doing so!
I saw this same performance live in Florida on his "First Final Farewell Tour"...simply AMAZING in person...the whole show was fantastic!!!! He ran around stage without seeming to get tired at all...and actually SANG (not synced like most current stars) and he sounds exactly like his albums in person....this is a legend for sure :) *if you aren't doing the drums with him by the end, there's something wrong with you hahaha
This was not the beginning song for the concert but the whole concert is online. You should watch it . It is amazing. It starts with a drum battle between him, the actual concert drummer and the percussionist. Amazing
Gold list 💯. I love watching reactions from the younger generations when it comes to our greatest queen , Phil Collins etc . We are slowly losing our amazing musicians. Most artists these days can not even play an instrument, well Coldplay can but nevertheless music and concerts records ,albums just not the same . My son doesn’t even own any music 😖 steams everything . Hope the future will sort it out . 🤪
That 'other' drummer is Chester Thompson. Before Genesis and Phil Collins, he played with Zappa (Inca Road) and with Weather Report (Heavy Weather). He has his own jazz group. For Genesis you must hit both eras....both Peter and Phil on vocals! 'Supper's Ready' (Gabriel) will blow your mind, 'Squonk' is a banger with Phil, 'Dance on a Volcano' (Collins) and so much more. PS if you are into fusion check out Collins drumming with Brand X. Phil says it may be his best work.
