Seems like a foreshadowing since Phil would beat him later as a coach on several occasions. Of course it helps to have a goat on your team but both are two of the greatest coaches.
Amazing knowing their futures hold now, two successful Lakers head coaches winning numerous NBA titles. Pat Riley 1982, 1985, 1987, and 1988. One as a player 1972, and as an assistant coach 1980. Phil Jackson 2000, 2001, 2002, 2009, and 2010.
Pretty much sums up their relationship...lol Riley could never get past Jackson's Bulls. The play reminded me of the Bulls blocking Smith's shot at the end of their playoff game with the Knicks. Riley was a great coach. Jackson was just a little better.
Both Riley and Jackson were valuable role players on their respective teams. Just goes to show you that "great" players aren't always the "great" coaches.
@adaonetube That's true for any team sport. The worst player on the worst team(major league or minor league)is better than any fan. Otherwise, that fan would be the worst player on the worst team in any sport.
