I think Phil's talking about what would eventually become The Red Expendables, not Release. Edit: For clarity, when Phil speaks of the "album" where Tod was mentally checked out of the band already, he means TRE. When Phil actually mentions "Release" by name in the interview, it's in reference to the tour in support of Release, and how Tod's disillusionment with Interscope became unrecoverable at that point.
CPC were one of the best bands of the early-mid 90s I saw them in Seattle w/ Helmet when they dropped consumer revolt then a couple of times later, once with Jesus Lizard.
aw man that's sad to hear. i never knew the background on this. nobody's the bad guy though, right? i saw puelo with swans and he was the big draw. DID NOT DISAPPOINT. that cop shoot cop album 'white noise' is really out there and real close to my heart. it's a litmus test.
i always felt that Release was a collection of songs(very good ones)as opposed to a CSC album,it was missing the instrumental/sample interludes that the others had,it just didn't feel right
I've never dug very deep into C.S.C albums. But the day of my bands show "often on the ride to where we are playing"... Or on the way to jam at a studio....I VERY often have the Release album cranked. That's definitely my go to to get hyped and level.
