I wanted to share part of my story. I am a fellow bearded country boy and a fellow brother in Christ. However in college I struggled with suicide and I survived several attempts. One of the things that has helped with my depression is reading your devotional, watching your shows and enjoying the wholesome Jesus-centered conversation. Thank you!

Thanks to RU-vid I'm learning how to Can. I have made sauerkraut, elderberry syrup and fire cider. 1997 my Grandparents died 3 days apart, then 6 weeks later my Mom went to Jesus at age 53. I kept asking for help to learn how to can, but timing of work schedules and driving out of town when the fruit and vegetables are ready just didn't happen. So now I have followed some Christian homesteaders to learn natural gardening and how to put up the items we grow. I enjoy your family conversation.

I’ve also got a feeling that those who can’t hunt , fish, and process their own foods are soon to be in trouble. Looking around for people who know how to live off the land and live comfortably. Growing up in the mountains and not much money you learn every way to survive. And with God walking with you there’s no worries!! Pandemic or whatever.

You are so right. There is no way the government's around the world can just keep printing money. With all the supply chains broken around the world the house of cards the economy is sitting on is about to collapse. We've planted a huge garden and stocked up on canning jars and lids and seals for the canner. Freezers are full and can be restocked with deer and fish when necessary. It's about to get real tough and our dependence on God will be put to the test. Then there's the virus 😷. Just saying.

@@winstonthehamster2444 good for you young man. Seek out the wisdom and simplicity of living off the land from someone who knows and has done it. Be open minded and pay attention and learn how to be in the woods and to be part of the woods instead of an intruder in the woods. Learn the wind and how to move as silently as you can. Learn to be patient and put yourself in the right place to let the game come to you. Blend into your surroundings and really look at the beautiful creations all around to be a part of it instead of an intruder. Give thanks to God for what he gives you and only take what you need for you and your family. It takes work but if you learn now you'll be blessed for your lifetime. At the 14 minute mark I couldn’t resist pausing to write this: As an Air Force Brat, I have not lived in a country where we did not make jam or jelly. Now, I may not remember the kind we had in Spain, but that was because I was too young, but England and here in the U.S. I grew up with a Mum and British Grandmother who made jam and jelly. My favorite that I remember to this day was my Grans blackberry jam. Oh boy, was that good. My Gran would take me out as a younging to pick blackberries and showed me the joy of eating them right from the vine. She made it so much fun, and I will never forget the twinkle in her eye when she’d bite in to a huge blackberry and pretend we were being sneaky for eating as much of them as we could before sauntering home with our pails full. I was spoiled because as I grew up and moved away from our family home, I could always go back and get a few jars of jam and/or jelly. Sadly, my Mum has passed, and it was so long ago when my Gran did too. Thankfully, we have wild raspberry bushes on our property where I pick the raspberries to make jam. All of our dogs have loved raspberries, and we do what my Gran and I used to do. My daughter is way old enough to learn the process so as of this year she will be making it with me as well. A few years ago my husband had wanted to tear down all of our raspberry bushes, but I wouldn’t let him. We also had the biggest rhubarb bush I had ever seen. It was more than six feet tall. I had always told him to leave it alone, especially when he’s the one who likes rhubarb, not me, but he tore it down. It’s been three years since that day, and it still breaks my heart. I used to enjoy making deserts and rhubarb jam for him. I had even once gotten strawberries and made rhubarb and strawberry jam, I had enjoyed that batch. We have a lot of blueberries growing in the Interior of Alaska, and boy oh boy, that makes fantastic jam. It seems like all of the families around here have their special spot and no one tells anyone where they are. It’s classified, top secret. It’s not hard to figure it out though, there are blueberries growing all over the side of one of our main roads going to nowhere. You can see people picking them all up and down it, you just have to get there first is all. Would I tell anyone which road? Nope. Would I tell anyone where I else I go? Nope. And I don’t even like blueberries, but my family sure do. I really do think it’s more than one percent of our population who makes their own jam or jelly. I can’t think of one family I know who doesn’t where I live, and a lot of my family in Wisconsin still make their own jam or jelly. Now, if you lived in New York or Chicago, that may be a different story, but even then, I’m sure there are families who still know how to make it, not a lot, but a few. I guess when you know something or have been raised a certain way, it’s hard to imagine others not knowing what you do. Be well good people and stay smiling, life is good.

But I haven't ever heard of mayhew jelly and I'd loved to try it . God bless you and I'm sorry for your loss . Smiled so much reading your post. Shed a few tears as well, same reasons. Lovely and loving memories you've got to cherish and keep your heart warm. Sadly, too many youngsters now, as it has probably been somewhat in every generation, don't or more likely aren't taught "the old ways" or even to respect them. When "new and improved" things come along, things that are faster, easier, etc. like the microwave and instant or frozen this and that, and that are supposed to save us time so we have more time to spend with our loved ones.... what do we do... spend more time with those devices and our families pay the price. Sadly that seems to be just what some are hoping for, separation. I, on the other hand hope that our families become much, much closer, stronger and more secure. And seek Him more. Wishing you and your daughter much happiness, laughter and joy as you hand down the tradition of making jam/jelly, etc. The kitchen seems to be where love hangs out. Have a very Blessed week. And, yes life is good.

I really enjoy these podcasts and am grateful for this family and the work they do. I was raised in the country with gardens, animals, canning and hunting etc. I used to think it was a really a hard life with too much work. Now I am so thankful for it because it was a gift. Now when everything hits the fan, I know I can make it. I went through a lot during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina but I was able with help from My Lord to provide for my family and feed them along with lots of my neighbors. And I am a jelly maker, thanks to my mama who taught me. God bless this family.

One of my most memorable moments of worshiping through song was on a mission trip to Guatemala, and we were staying at a small seminary type school. And one night after supper we were all gathered and getting to know some of the students who we would be helping go out in to the community with, and a few people started singing “How Great is our God”. It all started acapela and in of course two different languages, amazing just like that! Then a young man from our group chimes in with a guitar and another with a shaker, while two of the local students start drumming on the table!! It was one of those moments Jase was talking about, just so blessed and thankful to have been there to feel the spirit moving!!

I am so thankful for each and every one of them! This world needs more like them-especially now! Sadly, there is a lot of hate, greed, selfishness, etc in this world. If ever there was a time to love, the time is now! We are called to Love God, Love our neighbors and do good. So many are not heeding the words of the Bible. God Bless you and keep you safe-always! 💙

My grandma used to make jelly/jam when I was a kid. I remember to this day (I’ll be 40 this year) how delicious it was!! My grandparents had black berry bushes and we would go there and pick them and my grandmother would let me help her make the jelly & put it in the ball glass jars. She would always send us home with a few jars. They lived in Northern Ca and we lived in Southern Ca (Thank GOD I moved out of Ca 15 years ago!! I love it here in AZ!!) so we only got to visit like once a year during summer and that was one of my absolute favorite things to do with my grandma when we visited them. She passed on from cancer when I was around 10-12 years old, she was in her late 80’s early 90’s. My grandfather lived a few more years but passed on at 99yrs old.

Thanks so much Robertson’s for the lessons you put out for us to hear. I play guitar and love to sing but am always shy to sing in front of people. Jase’s statement “It’s not about you” really struck me. Thanks for that and I hope to put myself out there and sing in front of people. My son and I started watching Duck Dynasty together and got hooked. We live up in Maine. It’s something we get to share together and have laughs together. It’s something that will always be in mine and his memories. The show has been a gateway to hearing your family’s story and understanding just how important family is. It has also brought my son and I here to this podcast where we both get to hear more about Christianity and the love of God. Im sure it’s not just me and my family, but I’m sure the positivity, faith, love of family and god that your family puts out there truly does have such a positive impact all over the country. Thanks Robertson’s and keep up the great work.👍 Also if you could gave my son Castle a shout out on Unashamed, you have no idea how happy you would make a twelve year old 😃 I’m not sure if you guys read the comments or not.

Been living in suburbs since college so no homage jelly in years. Mom and grandma would make homemade jelly from blackberries, cherries, and wild plums. Now I will have to head to parents this summer to pick wild plums, and teach kids about wild plums for jelly. We can pick blackberries around here for jelly. Son 15, and daughter 17 love to deer and duck hunt. They helped me fill the freezer this last year with deer, and helped process them from field to table. BTW, Austin enjoyed meeting Martin at the local academy sports and telling his story of duck hunting in ice water bare foot. Enjoying the podcast. Crazy we’d rather watch this than TV.

Trump is an evil man. This podcast would disgust him. You don't become a president of the United States, without being one of them. Trump is a distraction from what is happening. The world is being taken over. If you have concerns and are made to feel as if your concerns are being addressed, then you are much more likely to be distracted, by that process, then you are to dig into the actualities of your reality. They give each side enough to keep us passive. A socialist takeover is occurring and the infrastructure for the system of the Antichrist is being built. Just like with the coronavirus situation, by the time everybody realizes what is actually going on, it will be too late.

@Seth R That's not true. He said Trump said, "Hmmmm" and asked for the verse he quoted and later said he still had it. What does that prove? He is not going against the globalist agenda, he is creating the appearance of doing so, while destroying the current economic and political system, so that the new one can be brought in.... As I said before, if you have concerns and are made to feel as if your concerns are being dealt with, then you are much more likely to be distracted by that process, than you are to dig into the actualities of reality. Trump is a distraction.

My husband grew up with a very large extended family (27 first cousins on his dad’s side). He started calling his parents by their first names when he realized that saying mom or dad did not necessarily get his parent’s attention. With all of the kids around someone was always yelling Mom or Dad. He says that first names brought the right parent.

After my Mother passed away some 41 years ago and we'd gone through the mourning process, it wasn't long before we realized that everything Mom had put up in our basement cellar/pantry was the last of it and would be gone forever in a very short time! We immediately learned to relished every last bit of it! A few years later after mourning the last of the pickled tomatoes, the jellys, beets, ect. we were down to a single jar of Moms famous chili sauce in the pantry, finishing that was almost like we were loosing Mom all over again, and now we were saying our final goodbyes! Life is fleeting, don't waste any opportunity you're given to spend time with your love ones! I truly loved all the wonderful things Mom made for us but I'd give up all the enjoyment I got from that to have one more day with her! You see I was raised Catholic, my Mom was always pretty ill, she died when I was a teenager, at that time I didn't know anything about Jesus gospel, grace or salvation, so I obviously have no idea if my Mother, or for that matter my Dad were saved! It shakes me up to no end imagining heaven without them, please pray for me!

My grandmother used to make blackberry preserves and here in west Texas, it’s an old time thing to pick wild plums in late June or early July and make jelly out of them. It was a lot of work, but when it’s done with family, you don’t even notice. You can’t buy that wild plum taste in the grocery store! I can’t believe that Jase is that rigid. Lol I’ve fallen in love with a Louisiana product, Steen’s Pure Cane Syrup! It real and not a manufactured syrup and goes great with butter on biscuits!

Because of the quarantine I have the time to go back and watch all the older ones. And I just love you guys! Now I am in Mississippi right near you all. And I find you all extremely valuable in my bible study. I have started my own weekly online study using zoom and lots of times pick up a relevant bit of information from your podcast just at the time I need it! I love to teach the Word of God and have been doing it the last 40 years or so. This stupid virus has taught me how to communicate with my brothers and sisters in Christ in just a different way. See what the enemy means for evil, God makes into good! And you all are part of my newest "good!" Praise God in ALL things so thank You Heavenly Father for this quarantine! Love you and keep those videos coming!
