Phil Sutcliffe from the Crumlin Boxing Club spoke to Oscar Willis from TheMacLife.com ahead of Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier II. VISIT: www.themaclife.com FOLLOW: / themaclifeofficial FOLLOW: / maclifeofficial LIKE: / themaclife
@Florida Man I’m Irish and tbh there’s not one wrestling club where I’m from and in mma clubs you learn only jj and not wrestling compared to America or Russia where wrestling is all over the place my point is people have fuck all wrestling back round in Ireland but yet mcgregor did better much than Justin gather and khabib was trying his hardest with mcgregor the whole fight but went easy with Justin had conor been training wrestling as long as Justin or khabib that fight would have been a lot diffrent he’s naturally good any everything just his boxing’s got the most training
"I wish he came back before the mayweather fight" Very true, conor had a jiu jitsu coach and artem in his corner, imagine if he had a legit boxing team
@@timjim875 Conor won rounds according to Tyson. Watch it again. Conor just didn't have the Stamina. Floyd could box 50 rounds straight his cardio is insane.
Don’t think any trainer could’ve got Conor to beat mayweather, actual boxers who trained their whole lives in just boxing could hardly touch Floyd let alone beat him and I’m a huge Conor fan.
@@SirJorge. most people overlook Conor’s martial arts skill set based entirely on the fact he succumbed to khabib’s wrestling prowess, which everyone has, and I don’t really put too much emphasis on the mayweather fight because Conor just approached that all wrong, his ego got the best of him there, but where he is at since the cerrone fight is very different, his fighting prowess is incredible, I think honestly he could beat Khabib at this point now
@@crowskull9735 Lol you think now he could beat khabib? What makes you think that? Because he beat cowboy who is on a losing fight streak? Because you’ve seen Conor posting pics of himself and training? Is it his new haircut? Or is it because everyone is talking about him like as if he’s going to come back and be the next Fedor? What exactly makes you think he can beat Khabib now? I’d like to hear your reasoning.
@@manunited1235 it's his mentality. Look how he was leading up to khabib. He was completely unhinged. Seriously man figure it out for yourself. Not that hard
It used to just mean a slap. "Dig" was what we said for punch, but not "dig him", more like,"give him a dig". Now I think clatter is just used for any type of hitting, even getting run over.
@LEE KING SNATCH ah a clatter can mean any kind of hitting to be fair, we know it has the origin of slap, but even saying “I hit him a slap” can mean a punch
Dunno man, Dustin is tough a nails. More mature, been through some wars, cardio all day. Could be a hard night for CMcG if he doesn't put him away early.
@LEE KING SNATCH I'm a Conor fan so no I'm not hoping for a porier win. Everything you're saying is true though. Remember porier vs gaethje and hooker, who's face will give up first! Dustin has looked great though since that loss 6 years ago. Conor is too fast, too accurate with better footwork and good takedown defence. I reckon Conor wins but I'm not writing porier off as an easy fight I suppose.
the person who runs this channel liked a comment saying something like "I hope we get a Conor one". I think it'll be released 2 weeks before the fight because I predict deez tingz
I’ve always considered Dustin to be at the top of the top in regards to boxing in the UFC. I think we find out the different level Conor is on above the rest of em in a month’s time
The thing is Conor can make legit world class fighters look like they ain't shit and then people don't want to admit some things so they feel like they must say something bad about the other guy. Watch how Dustin becomes a "bum" when or if Conor beats him, expecially if he destroys him like Cowboy and makes it look easy. Some people will never get over the fact that Khabib didn't end Conor's career and that loss to Khabib didn't affect his future. I never saw a comment how some UFC fight is fixed before Conor beat Cowboy and his haters started talking shit.
Conor McGregor is the best boxer ever to enter Mma that’s a fact !!!,junior dos Santos back in the day was good, nick diaz wasn’t bad,bj penn was good,Dustin and kattar and max okay standard, this for me is a pointless fight,McGregor will knock Dustin out cold again,
@Liam Garrett well james Toney got he’s fat ass embarrassed by Randy !!!!,ali wasn’t Mma mate lol, that’s why grappler was crawling along on he’s back,he could just got a hold Ali and killed him,if you want to be technical it would be ray mercer as he’s a proper heavyweight and fought against Lennox Lewis and held he’s own,
@@knuckle-sandwichmma681 yo bro we in for a treat this fight, he might as well spark peahead unconscious very easily and very well quickly, he will get that LW belt soon for sure
To see this guy whose been threw it right trained kids brought them up long career now get to experience the highest level of the game is a cool thing n i can appreciate tht
Philip .. you made us proud in your fighting days..i remember all the neighbours out and all the Bunting and Banners on the streets.. we were all quite poor back then and you gave us great times.. thanks Philip Sutcliffe.
@@nockiethompson1033 I didn't 😉I never said I wouldnt comment, just that I wouldnt scroll down through your negative shit, and even now, I still didnt scroll down 😘
No better man than Phil to advise on tactics. I remember Phil as an Olympian and International amateur boxer back in the late 70's, early eighties. You were always guaranteed pure entertainment when he was on the bill, and at that time, Dublin's National Boxing Stadium was packed to the rafters, mainly to see 'him'. From the outset, bobbing, weaving, always coming forward, head low, similar to a Jake Lamotta, non-stop bang, bang, bang, but also Flloyd Mayweather-type evasive if need be. A pleasure to watch. Little did I know that our paths would cross some 10 years later when he would train me to win an All-Army Heavyweight Title in 1991. I stopped my opponent in the 2nd round. It was a messy contest but a great conversational piece for years to come. Phil's true testimony comes with the youth who surround him. He is a god to them, and rightly so. An absolute Gent. Well Done Phil and continued success on whatever path you choose. 🥊🥊🏆🔥
Im so glad that Conor came back to basics and back to his roots where it all started.. To see again why he even started to feel that inner motivation once again.. And as John said he is in phenomenal shape just compare him to the first fight against Nate.. Such a difference.. I honestly believe Conor is capable of defeating Khabib right now.. He would take absolutely different approach and take it back home
I met Philip tonight..i know him since he was a young lad and his family are all great people..i knew his Dad..a lovely man.. and his Mother was a lovely Woman.. my Mother knew all his family and told me they were a lovely Family.. and they SURE were... we grew up in hard times.. r.i.p. to our parents for doing a great job.. we never had washing machines or Fridges.. we had coats on the bed but we weren't out pulling knives and kicking people to death?? Thanks Philip.. it was great chatting to you tonight.. a Gent.👍👍👍👍
This is my,i believe second time listening coach phil ! What a phenomenal old school boxing coach & the way he is passionate speaking about his fighter. Coach John, Coach Owen & Coach phil. Conor's got a great crew!
Phil reminds me of my first boxing coach so much... can’t wait for that McGregor interview. We all know it’s coming soon. Probably on fight week..Happy holidays everyone☘️☘️
Willo Hayden is the next big thing to come out of Dublin. 11 time Irish champion! He's made for the pro game, exciting, powerful body shots and real KO power! He has the lot!
@Saint 12 I have done my research and The Bible is full of shit and doesn’t make sense even the Adam and Eve story is fake because it’s impossible to create two humans as we evolved over time this is a verifiable fact
Really excited to see Willo Hayden make the jump to pro. Most definitely the next big thing, the lad has everything and more to compete at a top level.
Anytime for our American brothers! I heard from many Americans on Reddit that they had the best time here. You'd have a good time mate. We have some idiots here but we have a lot of nice, very hospitable and very fun people. You'll have a good one man!
@@Gallowglass7 Thanks! I’ve always been fascinated with your country since I was a little kid and learned about St.Patricks Day and Irish luck. Your culture seems so cool. We even have a college called Notre Dame their nickname is the Fighting Irish ☘️!
Bet you the McGregor interview has already been completed and they are just waiting to release it after they release the interviews with other members of his team first. I cannot wait. It shall be the season of the Notorious one in 2021!
Great how objective he is in his breakdown of conor and Dustin's boxing skills. Hate to say this but Dustin is getting koed in the 1st if he tries to outbox conor. Rd 1 conor is the most dangerous striker in the entire LW division
I wonder if McGregor’s corner will be Kavanagh, Roddy, and this gent? Should be a great team. I think Mcgregor will piece Poirier up and everyone will say he is washed up.
I’m a huge Conor fan and my friends even know this... but there’s levels in any sport. Conor would murder him in mma it wouldn’t be close... but boxing Conor isn’t in may weathers level. It’s just facts. Mayweather is too defensive too smart and counters extremely well... a boxing coaches dream. I wish Floyd would go over to MMA to even the score but he knows Conor would kill him and mayweather isn’t trying to lose. Why i respect Conor more he takes chances even though all odds are against him he doesn’t care.
Great insight from Mr. Sutcliffe. Most coaches, back then, would've disciplined or withdrew the student because they thought the student wasn't focused, serious or committed to learning that particular craft (boxing, judo, tai-kwon do, wrestling, whatever). All the while, that student is just adding tools to the box.
