A nice cloudy and cool day meant it was time to fish, I stayed very close to home and killed the afternoon by first going to the Manayunk Canal to try to get some flathead bait and also to catch some bass, the carp were very active and I gave them a shot but couldn't land any. From there I went to the Schuylkill to try for some daytime Flathead action and caught 4 small Flatheads, missing a few more. That got boring so I tried for smallies however that was also very slow and I could only land one small fish. I tried one more spot which was a total bust, however all in all I caught some fish and didn't drive more than 20 minutes from home, I have neglected my local fisheries recently and tend to fish the ocean much more than I do freshwater but when the cloud cover moves in you have to take what you can get and just enjoy being outside while not dripping sweat.
