I prefer the whipped versions for toast or English muffins I think the lighter texture goes better with them more than the regular spread. I feel the denser bagel pairs better with thicker spreads, at least for me.
I've made whipped cream cheese at home but when you refrigerate it, it hardens back up. They treat it with Lactic Acid to keep it softer (per Google). Better to just warm a block in the microwave for a few seconds, it softens easy.
I like anything with pure ingredients. The whipped stuff would be good on cookies. I like cream cheese with a harder bread like bagels. I like onions, and chives in my cream cheese, but plain is good too.
You both say “salt” at the same time. Jinx! lol. I have tried all those flavors. It’s nice for options; sweet vs. non sweet selection. I like chipotle! I like pretzel sticks dipped in any flavor.
The Philadelphia brand is $3.19/8oz brick and $4.79 for the whipped tub… I’d be curious if o know if Kevin could tell the difference between the great value brand and the Philadelphia brand… the price difference is substantial… even the meijer or Kroger brand… although Kevin was spot on about how easy it is to make I’m just not sure if it would be worth the trouble and clean up to make one tub…
Green onions are a relative to chives. I grow both. All of these can easily be replicated at home. We are paying for convenience. And those for those not able to do themselves. Excellent review as always.
