I will try this! I don’t know why the postal service can’t develop a good water soluble self adhesive! Probably don’t even care about the stamp collectors.
Hey Rob, I am glad you try my method, I use goo gone on the stamps until the glue or sticky is gone completely, I use more product basically I soak the stamp in a ceramic plate, the idea is not feel at all that the stamp is sticky. I have not seen any issue at the time I put my stamp and in the album ! Goo gone will evaporate and dry completely from the stamps ! Have fun !
Very Interesting video, I am happy to see that the Goo Gone was able to remove the stamps from paper, like others have stated I would be interested to see what effects if any this has on long term storage.
I've been using n-heptane, a rubber cement solvent, bought off A6mazon. I use a syringe to soak the backing paper, and it takes about 15 seconds to soak through the backing paper well enough to peel the stamp away from the paper. Any excess residue can be removed with a bit of talcum powder.
Thank you for sharing this demonstration! It worked so quickly. I wonder if dipping the stamp in warm water after the process would help with the residue? It will be interesting to see how the spray works 😀
More recent Australian self-adhesive stamps won't soak off in water, though most older ones will. Also recent Australian self-adhesive stamps have micro cuts which adds a whole new problem to removing them from backing paper.
You may have left the stamps too long as the liquid may have mostly evaporated. Next time, try after a few seconds and see if the stamps come off more easily.
