Just looked up the breed. Lancelot looks like a Prague Ratter, an old breed from the Czech and Slovakia area. They’re quick, active, alert, and watchful, and affectionate and loyal to their master. And social and good with children. A dog that back in time was only owned by royalty. Congratulations!

Watched this for the first time after hearing the heartbreaking news about Lancelot's untimely passing.💔 You brought so much joy to everyone who knew & loved you and also to those who watched you from a distance. RIP Sweet Lancelot. 💜💚

I have only seen the first few minutes….the funny thing is that as a dog mummy I know that in no time Stephanie will not be able to imagine that she was able to live without a dog 🐾🤣

Lancelot is bewildered by the change in languages. He has only heard German since birth. He will learn quickly his adopted language.....😍

OMG throwing doggy treats all over my computer screen!!! Although I'm very partial to large shaggy slobbering dogs, I can see why this little pup and his autumnal coat caught your heart. Stephany, you did a wonderful thing and now you may even have a friend to accompany you on your daily waddles, LOL. May I recommend a body harness rather than a collar to hook your leash. It'll be safer for the doggie who is bound to take off suddenly chasing leaves flying in the wind.

My husband was 100% against getting a dog, until I wore him down, and now I think he loves that dog more than me! :)

What a cutie! Completely understand the pause in the diaries, because little Lancelot will need some care and attention from the both of you, having just moved to his forever home. But he will be a great companion for your morning walks, Stephanie 😊 I remember the last time I got a puppy, and the first night, he was so tired, he slept like a log. But the second night, when we went to bed, I think it sunk in, that he was not going back to his mommy, all the siblings, and the family or house, he was used to. So shortly after lights out, he CRIED! Only for a short while, because off course he was comforted and cared for at once. But then, that was it, and he settled in beautifully! He is gone now, but not forgotten 😊

What a lovely addition to the Lalande Team!! Lancelot looks so sweet and adorable! His eyes look intelligent, I would say he is already taking note of whatever is happening around him. I have 5 mini German Pinscher, that they look very similar to Lancelot, and they are very smart and happy dogs. I´m sure you all are going to enjoy his company a lot. One thing, be careful with Lancelot, the hair is very short and this breed suffer from the cold, you may need to buy some woolly sweaters for him. Also when they go outside their height is so short that their tummies and chest get wet from the grass and they can easily catch neumonia. Remember to introduce him to the cat, the peacocks and the hens, and teach him not to chase them. I already love Lancelot!!

My late MiL had this breed, Prazsky Krysarik. Intelligent, always in for some fun, and highly trainable. She taught him how to dance, and Teffy did as he loved to please her. They lived in a flat, and no barking dogs were allowed. I am so happy for Philip, he will have a real friend with a great personality. Teffy, the little Prazsky thought himself a Doberman. I Hope Lancelot will think of himself as a bit smaller 😉

Molly will be so helpful his first nights at the Chateau! I am sure your cousin will be happy to let her stay with the pup! Also, no sleeping in anymore🐶🐶

It is 12th May 2024 and have no idea if you will ever see this! I have just rewatched this delightful video. I laughed thinking about your nerves, uncertainty and maybe fear as you arrived to meet him. Didn't take long ,a few minutes, to the complete change and the fore runner of this delightful little scraps total domination of Laland. I have a feeling that many folk may now have themselves a Prague Ratter.

Phillip, I highly recommend getting Lancelot a feeding bowl that has partitions in it which will make your puppy eat more slowly and thus help eliminate the throwing up. Watching him eat that meal in the hotel room, I was not surprised that he threw up. I’ve learned this through experience😅

Oh congratulations dear Philip on your own little puppy at last! I honestly didn't think Stephanie would ever give in to getting a puppy, I'm so happy she did, and I'm certain Lancelot will bring great joy to all of you at Lalande! He was incredibly calm considering all the newness of everything, you, the environment changes, transit and feeling motionsickness and such a long journey. It's amaxing he didn't even whimper through the night at your hotel! What a great choice of breed, he's travelsized and can tag along on the trips you think he'll be welcome. So lovely seeing Philip take such gentle care of him, I'm sure they're already bonded as it's clear little Lancelot knows Philip is his safe haven when he's wary of all the newness. The whole household will be the best puppy family he could ever imagine, and I'm sure he'll find great comfort in Molly too once they get aquainted. There's nothing like a mature chilled out retriever to set a you anxious dog at ease, it's my go to when I've trained nervous young dogs, taking wlks with a mature lady Lab in my case, has made a huge difference in learning to be less on edge, worried or worked up about regular sights and sounds in the environment! So for your socialization training, I'd suggest you start with bringing both Molly and Lancelot along to the villeage, meeting other animals, and dogs, children, and walks in the forest. It's very helpful, as they very much look to their companion dogs for cues on how to behave, and what not to worry about. Welcone little boy! I'm looking forward to seeing him develop! ❤ Oh and jyst don't give him goodies at the table, and he won't beg. Begging is entirely learnt behavior. He'll have eaten anyway when you dine in the evening. Just feed hos other meals prior to sitting down yourselves. Congratulations to all of you on a new chapter of Lalande life! ❤🐾🐾

It's a good sign that even while Lancelot's tail was saying that he was unsure of his new surroundings, his eyes and ears were showing that he is a keen observer. His curiosity will overcome his fear! I predict that you will soon have a little princeling trotting about LaLande, master of all that he surveys. Make sure that he understands that the chickens are not snacks since the breed has a strong hunting instinct.

Puppy will be fine and you will fall in love. He will keep your lap warm too!

Oh joy! He's not too different looking in size and coloration from my miniature long-haired dachshund Jojo. THAT doggie is NOT known for "no barking". But he is admired wherever we go and has an enormous personality and more than a normal amount of loyalty to the main momma. Me.
