I seriously do not understand why he's so underappreciated. He's a fantastic musician, brilliant guitarist, and a kind soul. His solo work and work with others is top notch as well. I sure hope more people start seeing recognizing his brilliance.
Honestly? I downloaded a few of his albums and his songs aren't exactly that great. He's a proper player, but he lacks hooks in his songs. I watch him on insta, ut I don't listen to his music.
Basically the whole problem with all the acts on this ship. No songs. These people focus more on playing than actual music, it saddens me because true musicians are very rare now a days. But whatever makes you happy i guess. At the end of the day its all about songwriting.
He's under appreciated because nobody's heard of him. This is the first time I've heard of him. Also, Truth Street hit the nail on the head... though I wouldn't say that this cruise is the primary/only place where you find people who make minimal effort at songwriting because you can't find decent songwriters anywhere these days. Hey, at least this guy can play a badass solo and sing like Lenny Kravitz to entertain people on a blue cruise. That's good. He does kick ass.
That's exactly what goes through my mind when I see anything by him. I don't need lyrics. Just those sizzling lines and runs are enough. Could watch an hours set of instrumentals by him. Lyrics are overrated. The sad part is that 90 percent of the people I know need lyrics to float their boat and I guess that holds true for the rest.
Why is humility always mentioned as being so important in a muso? He ain’t my friend, I don’t care about his personal comportment. Please stop repeating this milquetoast cliche Frank Zappa was off the charts arrogant-and it takes nothing away from his greatness
Imagine if there was a family that had booked a cruise on this ship and not realised this was all going on haha. Man Sayce is so good, he it's like he doesn't even need to think about what to play or where on the neck to go... it just comes to him. Talented as hell
First 30 seconds he gets an amazing tone out of the bridge pickup. I usually wince when the bridge pickup of a Strat is overdriven but that was really thick and full sounding. Any idea what pickups and signal chain the guy is using?
A masterclass in how to wring every last drop of stratty goodness from one of Leo's finest vintage creations. How Sayce isn't huge is one of the universe's more perplexing mysteries. Still, often when an artists popularity increases so does the pressure from the music industry to produce and this can adversely affect them, so for all us music lovers perhaps it's best if he continues to work in relative obscurity. Sublime.
He's not a rapper, that's why he's not huge. Stupid people these days don't care about nothing but hip-hop crap and they don't really even listen to that they're too busy seeing how drunk they can get and trying to bang some chick they're trying to get even drunker.
Ronnie Guitar i mean that’s kindove how it was in the 80s with gnr, Motley Crue etc. then Srv came along. But I agree with u. Atleast that was good ass music not fucking mumble shit where all they say is nigga this nigga that.
First time seeing this guitarist, top notch player. Why isn’t he a big name? Definitely one of the hottest players along with Eric Gales. Somebody promote this guy!!
I was privileged enough to see him a handful of times at Grossman's on Spadina Ave in Toronto years ago. Sometimes the crowd was so small. I couldn't believe it. He always rocked the house, and never did I walk away anything but awestruck
Great choice with Sam Bolle (on bass guitar). From surf rock to punk rock to blues rock, Sam overthetop rocks it! Sharp, energetic, soulful, intricate. We want Sam in OUR band!!!
S71 GUITARS, The Hendrix/SRV influences are obvious, but I also hear a lot of John Mayer in this and many other PS performances. This particular tune reminds me very much of Mayer's tune Who Did You Think I Was. Having said all that, there's no denying that PS is a monster player and a strat master and I hope he eventually gains the following he needs to be successful.
@@HeROsiNhEaVeN yes true' but also before there was jimi there was many more' i cant remember the song but i was listening to pandora and there was some song by an artist way before Jimmy that sounded kind of like Little wing and I wouldn't be surprised if Jimmy was inspired by that but obviously got all the credit for it' yeah they say Jimmy is the Pioneer of his style of music but I'm still guaranteed he's got a lot of his style from people he was inspired by but in the video I was mentioning that is closer to Stevie style not jimmies I listen to both of them a lot and can tell its way closer to Stevie's
adam a both artist’s are phenomenal and I believe both influenced blues to what it is today....but Jimi was influenced by a bunch of blues artist’s such as Buddy Guy, Rory Galleger, BB King , etc....Stevie admits to Freddie King, and Jimi to being his biggest influence’s.....Stevie use to say that he had dreams about meeting Jimi....🙏🏻
Does sound like Lenny Kravitz - but way better guitar playing..Philip's tone is killer - his string gauge looks like he's using 15s or some real heavy gauge strings ! I read an article that said Stevie Ray used 13s or some crazy almost piano wire like strings ! That was key to his tone !
Avatar7x7 Philip uses 12s I believe... Stevie used 13s until his fingers couldn’t do it anymore. On top of that the finger boards on the guitars he used wore out super quickly. Later in his career Stevie used to go with 11s tho... but in contrast to Stevie B.B. king used 8s and billy gibbons 7s. So you can get great tone out of every string gauge... it’s the player not the instrument that determines the sound
Yeah... a funny thing happened, a friend of mine was passing near by me while I was watching and he questioned if it was a Lenny Kravitz performance. Anyway it's a killer tone and a powerful voice too.
@@bla_blub Thanks. I seriously thought his breakout album was done with vintage Marshalls, but this Fender sound is seriously killer. Owning a Fender amp, I'm guessing there are some crucial pedals in the signal chain. Best.
I mean it's a pretty tall order when you have the entirety of all the best new blues musicians on a cruise ship together but fuck me hes pretty good isnt he
Still don't get why he's not headlining places and getting more exposure!...he was epic when he played in Jeff Healey band but now he's off the scale. He's got everything! He should be massive. Sack the manager as far as I can tell.
The music industry is not promoting real talent these days ! You gotta wear a meat suit or come out naked or wear a dress...Talent ? no - but hype and controversy... all day long ! SMH
Back in the 1970's my neighbor Bruce had a a awesome guitarist Chuck Flanagan jammed at his house! Chuck also built a guitar that had incredible low string action! Chuck audition for Don Henley and the guitar piece was used in the song Dirty Laundry! I looked up Chuck on Facebook and this guitarist here is Chuck's favorite! Chuck is also on RU-vid....
Reading all these comments from def people with no taste in music and obviously never touched an electric guitar in their life ...well let me tell you something.. he IS the best Blues guitar player right now in the world ..better than Bonamassa and Gales.
Easy to see you are a monster strat gunner and should be much better known. I've been playing a strat for 45 years and your better than me and you know that's not easy to say! You ware it well!
