Philipp Stubbs is so entertaining to read, and was the most insufferable ass I'd never like to meet.

God forbid women find any way to express themselves even back then when they weren't allowed to express much at all.

Best part is that I am in absolute awe by the pearl details of the third illustration. (And I bet he was secretly too. Delusional as he was.)
