Even though I like Dortmund more than Bayern I feel so sad that he's retiring. When you as a defender have never gotten a red card it speaks for itself, and neither Bayern or the German national team will be the same without him. I'll be truly heartbroken when he plays his last game, but I also think it will be better if we honour him instead of just being sad about his retirement.

One of the most remarkable memories I have of Philipp Lahm isn't on the pitch, but on text books. I took a german course in college and the workbook we used for guidance described Lahm as being one of Germany's greatest players and national heroes. That amazed me as I knew him from the sport, but ignored how respected he is on his home country. Greetings from México.

C'mon this has some huge omissions. Some of Lahm's most memorable goals ever include his ridiculous WC 2006 strike against Costa Rica and his all important match winner against Turkey in Euro 2008.
