That is true in the context of the opera. However, there is no gender in the duet itself. Therefore, it is simply a duet of two lovers, and gender plays no role here. =)

@@CarolYost But aren't we past the times where names define gender? Should not rather the gender define the name? It is above all a role on stage? I wouldn't attach an identity to that yet. Art is what we can be. Identity is in the end who we are.
