The scary part is not really knowing the true costs of things in the Philippines. I'm here to tell you a $2000 budget and your golden.
If you are considering the Philippines to retire, you need to set a budget and stick to it.
Ill list out our expenses-you'll be awakened by the real numbers.
This is what I spend and if you have bad habits you'll probably be more.
leave your bad habits in the west and start new/fresh and enjoy life.

I wasn't familiar with the Samar area before seeing your videos - it's refreshing to see how inexpensive it can be to live there, and your breakdown of what it's costing you to live there each month is sincerely appreciated. When we settled there in 2013, our house was already completed, so we had no major housing cost per se, other than elec. We set our total budget (not income) at $1,600 usd and we lived well with car and motorcycle. Because we cool the entire bungalow-style house 24/7, our electric bills will run from P11,000 to P13,000 per month. Today, it takes about $2,200 to live at that same comfort level and not want for anything (except a good pizza now and then). 🌴😎

I think it depends on needs and wants for sure-getting western culture out of your mind as in, buying material things the costs goes way down for sure. Just loving life is all I can say-it’s a real blessing being in the Philippines for me.

I put away 5000 php per month. $85ish per month. My last doctor visit Orthopedic for knee back- 10 X-rays, doctor visit and prescription was under 7000php $120.00. Dentist is under 10,000 php per year-$170.00. Ear infection-doctor visit and ear drops 1600 php $26.50. Very affordable. Thanks for the question, I’ll do a video soon on outside the home expenses.

Nice posting on your budget. I live in Glendale on the outskirts of Phoenix north of the 101 and wast of the 17. I have been watching these Expat channels in the Philippines for couple years now. Seriously thinking I would like to give it a try. It's really too hot to go outside in the summer here and I'm getting so tired of just sitting in the house watching TV all day. Gets very boring. I do have a Rzr that I like go trail riding up in sedona and around Quartzsite and up around Payson but it's still just too hot to do that right now. going to give it a good thinking over.

@patd4u2 I lived in Palm Springs and my August bill was $1100 My electric here is $140 per month. But I run 3 aircons with no insulation in my apartment, all concrete .

So happy to not have anymore bills in the states. No more taxes on items. Philippines-the price you see is the price you pay. No hidden costs.

Great video, I am glad you have overcome your apprehension on the budget. We are similar to approach to our spouse, I am saver she is a spender haha! So I give her lack of a better word an allowance….she can spend or save…..no disagreements I agree with you about the quality of workmanship and materials is poor in the Philippines unless you have meticulous knowledge and expectations l In terms of money I always believe in redundancy! Have a least two of everything; bank accounts, credit cards, service to transfer money….and in the Philippines always have cash.

@@ronniecupstid9955 Wow, High rent? We actually make it pretty easy on 80,000-php per month. The most we have spent with travel is 160,000-php for a month. I guess it all depends on needs and wants in life-everyone is different for sure. I know of 1 person making it on $700-I wouldn’t even try that. Thanks for the comment. Thanks for the video my friend.. I have already plan to trip there.. With my gf.. But, only 1000 budget.. She have 2 girls, 8 and 13..it will be so risky with that budget?? Of course, in 2 years I will increment my pensión in 2.5 k. Or better wait??

$1000 budget would be tight- As long as you have some start up money, so you can purchase your comfort needs- and it takes 4-6 months to settle down on spending. You’ll need $2000 the first 4-6 months, adapting to the foods, and the overall spending habits.
