An AVP of the Philippine Banana Export Industry showcasing the number one fruit export of the Philippines - the cavendish.
The Philippines is now the top banana exporter in Asia and the second-biggest in the world.
“The Philippine banana export industry is an industry where we have proven that the Philippines can be the best in the world.
We have been recognized as one of the most efficient banana producing countries, offering the highest quality standard in terms of taste and aesthetic appearance.”
These bananas thrive best in the southern island of Mindanao. Blessed with vast rich land, even rainfall, abundant sunlight, excellent water, and gentle winds, Mindanao is most ideal for growing these delicious and nutritious breakfast table staple.
Cutting edge research has given the Cavendish variety that distinctive naturally Philippine taste.
Ten to 12 weeks on the field after bagging, the matured bananas are harvested.
These are cleaned and carefully inspected and selected, making sure that only the best Philippine Cavendish bananas get to the export market.
These golden sweet produce are loaded on to climate controlled shipping containers to their final destinations to consumers all over the world who continue to enjoy that distinct sweet, custardy taste of Philippine Cavendish.
---
- More than 3 million individuals are dependent on the banana export industry for their basic needs and self-esteem.
It is small wonder that communities thrive where these plantations and packing facilities operate.
At P-B-G-E-A everybody, including the company, its workers, agrarian reform beneficiaries, the communities, the national economy and even the environment is allowed a share in the banana gold.

Sigh, sometimes the government forgets the potential of Mindanao. All money is invested in the North. Politicians who held the most power are all in the North. It's been a dreamed to separate Mindanao from the Philippines, creating a federated country. The separation of Mindanao from the Philippines in my opinion and I think is the best way for Mindanao to develop. However, realistically shit rebels are the root cause of Mindanao stagnation. Mindanao is not affected by typhoons every year, resources are abundant especially land and raw materials. Only the NPA rebels and some shit rebel group held back its development. Sigh, I hope these rebels are wipeout by CoVid. The CPP NPA fuck up version of Communism. It can only work in dreams but it will not work in reality. I have talked to some people from other countries who said that they get their bananas from the Philippines and that its very cheap. The fruits grown in their own country are more expensive than imported bananas from the Philippines. Magkaroon tayo ng Malasakit naman sa mga farmers!!!
@pbgeabanana
@pbgeabanana 2 года назад
Hello Dancel! We share your sentiments about our farmers. But you see, the pricing of bananas for export goes through the entire supply chain. We believe in shared responsibility along the entire supply chain from producers/farmers to consumers in the foreign markets. However, we do not have control already as far as costs after loading the bananas for shipment are concerned. There are costs borne by the importers and distributors such as, but not limited to shipping, insurance, import duties, ripening, distribution, etc. It's a different business in foreign markets. Nonetheless, as far as PBGEA members are concerned (not all are members of PBGEA though), we pay our workers and farmers reasonably. Moreso, the reason why importing countries pay more for their local fruits is to protect their farmers. In most cases, we can only appeal through Government-to-Government negotiations for price adjustments.

@pbgeabanana

Cavendish (dessert banana) yung tinatanim for export in 15 Mindanao provinces. Yung cardaba (plantain/cooking banana) naman ang ginagamit for banana chips na malaki din ang market abroad. Other varieties are also exported but with niche markets.

Costa Rica with volcanic soil has the closest fruits similar to Pinas.

However, the Del Monte farm is that where you can find the Muslim mosque and school situated in Datu Sangki, Maguindanao. Dole plantation is that one where their scientist was interviewed on site.
