Philippine House Building Day 404 - We Moved in BUT THEN......
The plan was, to give you an update a day or two after we were left with the cliffhanger of whether or not we could move in to the house before the last of our two kids returned from the UK.
So what happened ? Why has it been about 10 days for this video to come out ? Watch and find out. Spoiler alert - the main reason for the delay was nothing to do with the house build.
There has been a lot of progress, but there remain a couple of significant problems to be resolved. We do now have the new mains power connection (but still no internet), and it is very much still a construction site. There is a lot to see - things now look VERY different !

Hi sir Excellent design layout very unique design features. Maybe you should have metal grinder to cut security bars in case of fire and entrances are inaccessible
@philippines4.0buildinganew64
Hi TonioandLita That is not a bad idea. Hopefully the fire / smoke alarm system we are putting in will give us plenty of time in the event that something does happen.

if you have a fire how do you get out of the windows with the bars bolted over them? In the States you would not get a CO (certificate of occupation) with no way out of a bedroom other then the door. In fact you can't have a bedroom without a functioning window per code.
@philippines4.0buildinganew64
Richard Very fair question. This is just one of those differences between the Philippines and the US. Would love to not have the grills, but for me, they are a necessary evil.

Hello Mike, your house is looking great. Sorry for the medical emergency with your daughter. I hope she is doing well. Your blinds are exactly what my wife is looking for our build. I was wondering if you can send the names and contact info of the company. I'm excited to see the remaining work completed. Thanks for your help and happy new year!

Just curious how much an appendectomy costs in the Philippines. I would think that would be a common ailment that could pop up at anytime
@philippines4.0buildinganew64
Jim In our case, it was just a little bit north of US$4,000. I have no idea if that is representative, and of course it will depend on the location and type of hospital. I was not expecting so much, but the place we went to is supposed to be one of the top two hospitals in this area. Not necessarily my intention to go to one of the top two, but it was the place that the first "small" place we went to recommended. And in the end, it was our daughter, so money comes second. It included three nights stay, and six doctors (yes six, including a videographer !)

Hi Mike Thanks for the update. Good to see daughter is recovered. The house looks good been a big project. As expected the usual packing boxes. Something you've not mentioned is mains power. I did see one aircon going might have been Jack's room . If the kitchen island has power then change gas hob to induction. It's better anyway. Looks like flooring up to fit gas line.Can use bottle under, most Filippos do. Not safe to my way of thinking The entry roller gate looks when finished will be good. I'm not a fan for grills however had on my factory and without them I would have no tools. The home is looking good very rewarding for all the family and can see the young boy enjoying so much. Nice one Mike. Happy new year
@philippines4.0buildinganew64
Happy New Year Graeme Mains power finally connected a few days ago. Truth is though that the weather has actually turned quite cold - at least by Philippine standards - and we have hardly had any aircons on, so the old temporary power would probably have still been enough for now. No money left to buy another grill, so it is going to have to be a bit of floor damage to put in the new line. Definitely don't ant the gas bottles inside the house. The grills are, in my opinion, a necessary evil here. Wish they were not, but have to do everything we can to protect the people in the house.

Well done Mike. It looks fantastic. Sorry to see that Sabrina has developed Philippine-itis (an allergy to the Philippines!). I would also agree with the suggestion made elsewhere that replacing the gas hob (currently with no gas feed) to an electric induction hob could/should be a better option. This is what we went with when we did our kitchen and it works well.

How does one miss a gas line that is meant to feed a cooktop??? Clearly your builder, your engineer, and indeed your entire team were not thinking things through. I hope they are not charging you for this mistake, which is clearly theirs. It is not reasonable to expect a homeowner to supervise design and completion of every single element in the house. That responsibility belongs to the builder. This does not make a good recommendation for your builder.
@philippines4.0buildinganew64
Albert There is some "debate" about whether we told them about the outside tanks before or after they laid the floor. Never mind, they will fix it, and it will be on their account. Honestly, the builder has done so much right, that I would still recommend them.
@Nnennaafolabi8624

Lovely home, instead of digging up the tiles, to run a gas pipe, why not move the gas cooker hob to the counter top by the window and recut the granite top to fit the hob. Really big mistake. That's why home owners need to check the details. God thing you have a functional second kitchen.

I guess the contractor was thinking like most Filipinos, the Gas Cylinder underneath the Stove? I wonder if they have "Torpedo" gizmo available there? It is a machine that can shoot water lines underground, it is often used so as not to have to dig the ground , dig only @ connection points. The castle looks great!
@philippines4.0buildinganew64
I think you are right Aurelio-Rey Hopefully the fix is coming soon. Even if they have a torpedo gizmo, I suspect they will not use one here.

Looking absolutely gorgeous.. Sir, If I might offer you a Suggestion for your gas line.. I would suggest that you have your contractor... Tunneling in from the outside.. There by avoiding distractions and disruptions to the existing kitchen floor .. They can drill through the cabinet and sink a pipe into the ground.. drop a line or shoot a laser line ..then tunnel to the dropped pipe ..feed through the gas line ..and Then connect with your tanks .. Your kitchen is absolutely beautiful.. I hope that, This might help you with your problem. Hopefully someday we'll find a chance to visit with you and your family.. God's blessing upon us all. 💯🙏💯🎉 #ITSMOREFUNINTHEPHILIPPINES
