Fact. Alam nyo bang mas mahirap ang posisyon ng pag awit ng philippine madrigal singers dahil nakaupo sila?. Pero Ito ang pinaka da best pagdating sa pagpapalakas ng iyong baga at vocals. It's not just a trademark. It's a technique.

@Dan Daluz thanks for giving me an idea. I will be doing that, too. Yeah, I think this will be a great song for waking up. Consider the progression from light to loud sounds of human voices+nature combined

I acknowledge the fact that the Madz is one the world's most be-medalled ensemble and there's no doubting their chorale prowess, but for this song's context my only contention is that it makes no sense that they should just be seating there still in their Renaissance madrigal cum motet form. The song feels like it's raring for some movements and aptly so since it is an ethnic tribal song. I could never imagine a tribal song being sung seated and almost still. Even if it were just a chant, it wouldn't be chanted so Zen-like as it is uncharacteristic of ethnic tribes. Anyway, their vocal rendition was fair. Not as clear and crisp as the Ateneo Glee Club's especially on the clustered notes harmonies and the very high soprano pitch near the end. Additionally, is even replete of nice and graceful movements and blockings. Self-Reinvention won't do anyone harm, especially since the realm of chorale ensemble performances is getting smaller by the day.

Call me traditional; but what I look for most in a good performance is tone, and how well the spirit of the music and text is expressed. What's troubling is seeing the trend towards the gimmick (+over-choreography).

Mads is not a show choir. Let them sit. It's what makes them the "mads" that we know and admire.

duh, if they want to sit, let them. That's the definition of Madrigal. As for saying Ateneo sang this better, you're kidding right? They didn't even win that competition in, was it Slovenia...

It gives me the impression that you are trying to be polite as you voice out your opinion, so I respect your opinion. But I just want to say, I think the "musical magic" that the Madz have is through their sound and how they interpret it through their voices. Traditionally, they sit down in performances; and occasionally, some songs would have choreography depending on how they want those to be performed. But I did some research for this piece and from what I found out, it may be a child's folk-tune but the lyrics does not focus on merrymaking or celebration. It's more of how a child would appreciate nature. If however it was part of their plan to stay in their traditional set up, I think I understand how they just chose to be very "still" for this one. It's a different perspective for each choir. AGC is AGC; and, Madz is Madz. Have a nice day!

I have watched T'boli traditional singers and chanters (Ye Gas and the legendary Mendung Sabal) sing T'boli songs, and they would always do it while sitting on the floor, trance-like, solemn and very spiritual. Sorry I have to break your misconception of what "tribal" is.
