Jessica's version is like the one you'll play before the war and Regine's is like the homecoming or the victory anthem. Hopefully, after this crisis, we'll be hearing the latter.
C jessica ay ndi marunong magtagalog. Khit pinay cya pero ndi lumaki s pinas. At least naawit nya ng maayos ang ating phil anthem. Ndi pede ipagkumparea c regine at jessica dhil c regine ay laking pinas.
@@meritonhirochema4537 OO HINDI TALAGA PWEDE IKUMPARA YANG JESSICA MO SA ISANG REGINE HAHAHAHA, DAHIL SI REGINE AY LEGEND, PATI SINO BANG NAGKUKUMPARA SAKANILA? IKAW LANG NAMAN EH
@@meritonhirochema4537 Si Regine ay purong pinay at laking pinay. Si Jessica ay KANA. Di pinay, laking US, hating pinay at hating latina. It's really a credit to her talent that she was able to adjust and sing a foreign anthem(filipino is foreign to an american).
Di talaga pwede ikumpara si JESSICA na kinanta ng tama ang NATIONAL ANTHEM natinsa Regine na yan na feeling DIVA kung bastusin yung national anthemnatin. She did it wrong no excuses. Walang elegante sa ginawa niya purong kababuyan.
REGINE VELASQUEZ to this day, owns the best live rendition of the National Anthem. HANDS DOWN. Only Regine, in the whole live TV history sang the anthem in a much slower tempo & changed some notes without being castigated by the government. Her artistic license and her being the biggest & most celebrated diva allowed her to do the changes. Suggestion: Do a reaction to Mariah, Whitney & Beyonce’s “Star Spangled Banner” performances
Yeah Regine is singing in the side of Blue which represents Peace after a war then Jessica is singing in the side of Red which represents War before the war will begin...
Both were powerful in their own different ways. When Jessica sang, it made me proud to be a Filipino. When Regine sang, it didn't only make me feel proud to be a Filipino but it also made me cry to be reminded of what truly makes a Filipino. She was like telling a story that pierces right through the heart and ignites the fire of patriotism. And the wholetime you show your respect to our National Anthem, Ovela, by placing your hand on your chest, makes me appreciate you all the more. You totally rock!!! ❤❤❤🇵🇭
The National Historical Commission had been noticing these pop singers version of Philippine National Anthem. The anthem was written for a marching band, no official version was written for solo or choir. But singers should not deviate too much from the marching tempo. Jessica sang it at later date than regine, after the issue had been talked about multiple times.
@@mixedvlogs4985 Sorry but they did. The law was created after Martin and Regine sang their versions, to prevent other singers from changing the anthem. No one is above the law, even if you are a Martin or a Regine.
SECTION 37. The rendition of the National Anthem, whether played or sung, shall be in accordance with the musical arrangement and composition of Julian Felipe. Republic Act No. 8491 February 12, 1998
Wrong. Many complained. I recall that during the early 2000s. Even Ovela mentioned it. But it was forgotten because Martin Nievera had also changed it a little but was forgiven so why not forgive Regine too?
Yuck! Romanticizing her doing that to our national anthem is completely stupidity. It is not allowed to change the tempo of our national anthem. Periodttttttt
The law was passed after regines performance of the song. After Regine as far as I know and remember, a lot followed her making the anthem sounds like their own and some of them. Messed up a lot. That's the time they've passed the law to stick ti the original whenever this will be perform live.
The changes in the law were implemented long after Regine performed the Philippine national anthem. Her version is highly regarded as the exception and the standard because of it's incredibly emotional nuance. It's the Filipino equivalent to Whitney Houston's iconic Star Spangled Banner performance.
Whenever I hear an Anthem being sung, I can already tell if its from the Heart... The Philippine National Anthem is very Glorious, must be sung with so much Passion in able to awaken the Spirit of the Filipino People, it is the Voice of the Nation and its Motherland... Jessica Sanchez sings it like you can hear the Motherland is calling you, and when She calls you'll witness A Great Unity... God Bless Us, Jessica gave me the Goosebumps, Ima look fo her... 🥰😍
Regine in an interview said that the Lupang Hinirang(National Anthem) is one of the few songs she fears of singing because it is a very difficult piece. She had only sung this 3 times ever in her career. This version in particular made her one of the only few singers who sang the anthem in a mofified version (slow tempo). Recently, she was asked to sing the Sea Games held in the country which she declined. She always believes that an artist should have the freedom to sing the song in whatever way given that it does not disrespect the cultural essence or value of the Anthem. I also believe that with Regine's cultural impact to Filipino Music and proven established Artistry, she should be excempted with this BS law. Having said that, Regine's version may not be technically the most correct, but it has the most dignifying and proud effect on us Filipinos. A National Anthem should be sang with PRIDE and HONOR and that is what we felt with Regine's version. Not to mention her VOCAL PLUSES alone here blows all other singers versions out of the water.
Ms. Regine's version has slower tempo but it was still allowed during that time because the law that strengthens strict observance of respect and honor on national emblems of the country (if I'm not mistaken) was not as empowered as of today. The strict implementation of said law was prompted after mistakes and unnecessary shifts that other singers had done during their respective performances in which a couple of them were during a Pacquiao fight, too. Hence, the march tempo was encouraged and finalized. ☺️
This is true. It was only after Martin Nievera sang it in another Pacquiao fight where the government became very strict on the implementation of the anthem’s tempo.
Magandang gabi po sa inyo... It's nice to hear from your channel to react the National Anthem of the Philippines....🇵🇭😘🇵🇭🇵🇭 Proud here as a Pinoy❤️❤️❤️
Regine is always effortless when it comes to high and low notes. She always sing from the heart and that’s the important. Changing note a little bit is not a big problem even if we have rules to follow, in fact she give justice to our National Anthem and it sound much really really good than the original. If our country would allow to change it more and I guess Regine’s new arrangement would be the best version ever!!!❤️
As a Filipino, I grew up singing our national anthem every morning before class starts. And every time I hear the song, naturally, I would just stop and start feeling my heartbeat.
Regine's rendition = ballad; Jessica's rendition = battle Both renditions were genuine, heartfelt and meaningful so I wouldn't pick one over the other. Both represented the Philippines with grace, honour, fervour and love for the country.

I'm afraid everytime singers sing Philippine National Anthem in public because talking about our national anthem, it is culturally sensitive and just one little mistake, here comes the law and the bashers. Hahaha 😂😂😂
The bashers and the agency or department whatever you call it are not open to improvement. For me as long as it's a heartfelt performance, there should be no problem. REGINE's version will always be the best.
@@jamval2429 Yeah.. For me, no need for curls and other runs in singing our national anthem. It should be sung properly and with feelings. Char.. 😅😅 And Miss Regine nailed it as well as Jessica.
And thats why we filipinos is a good singer hahahaha napapractice tayo kada flag ceremony hahaha at kada umaga un kinakanta kaya talagang practice hahaha
There's actually a law in the Philippines that prohibits any change on the tempo, rhythm of the national anthem. But Regine is Regine, she can do no wrong. :)
Martin Nievera was the first to change it in a Pacquiao match. Many people protested. Then Regine copied Martin's lead. The law was created to prevent more singers from deviating. Just because you're a singer doesn't gives you the right to make it your own.
Regine's version was during a time before the Historical Commission started cracking down on musicians changing the arrangement of the anthem. These days they are very strict with how the anthem is sang.
Gives me goosebumps listening to each word of the national anthem. Made me teary-eyed to see you place your hand over your chest. Thanks for the respect Ovela! 🙌🇵🇭❤❤❤
Jessica did the original phasing and beat of the song and Regine did a little slower version but it was still ok. Yes its true we can not sing the national anthem in any different way but we can change the tempo...
Actually changing the notes and melody of the national anthem during this kinds of boxing matches had an issue with our National Historical Commission... They said it should not be changed and as it is should be like a march tempo and so on.. 🤔
You know what Ovela..I am so impressed on what you did..you kept silent and finished the song before you talk something..and most respectful you did was you put your right hand into your heart..Im very thankful for your being respectful..because usually you paused the video and then you comment.. As a Filipino..everytime we heard our national anthem LUPANG HINIRANG, we have to stop no matter what your doing and put your right hand into your heart.. And that is the sign of respect THANK YOU FOR LOVING AND EMBRACED OUR COUNTRY❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ GOD BLESS YOU AND IN RETURN..WE FILIPINOS ALWAYS SUPPORT YOU 😉😊
Every match of Pacquiao, we always send a singer to sing the national anthem. We don't only wait for the match but we also wait who will sing "Lupang Hinirang" ❤️
I really love your honesty OVELA ! Im always waiting for your new video reaction....coz i loved to watch you over and over again....💕🥰 i love you Ovela and take care always! More power🙏🙏🙏
Many tried to copy the note Regine made @9:00, mostly to hilarious results. Anyway, its supposedly illegal to change the tempo of the philippine national anthem, but no one really got prosecuted. Fun fact, in one of her interviews Regine said the most difficult song to sing in her opinion is the national anthem. Shes is actually dreading to sing it. So, this might be the only public video of hers singing the song.
Regine is the first and the one and only who sang phil.national anthem this kind of version and the other singers who follow copy her version up to now.
i really like that one time a feeeew years ago (2013 pacquiao vs ríos) when jessica sang it and the pinoys in the macau's arena started singing along. i think the main reason why our anthem shouldn't be altered is so that the crowd can sing along, we are always required to sing along during flag ceremonies at school
I like you how to react some videos of those Filipinos artist and you capture our culture also, thanks for promoting or vlogging our country as a citizen in the philippines a am proud to be pilipina. Sending love from Philippines 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Miss Leah Salonga also sang it in one of the events here in tha Philippines. For me it is the best. ut Mori did it ,too.but sang it faster than a march. The song was made by the people during the uprising against the Spaniards.
At that time, Regine is still allowed to sing the National Anthem that way because there is still no strict implementation of the Law specifically R.A. 8491 or the “Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines.” As stipulated in Section 37, “The rendition of the National Anthem, whether played or sung, shall be in accordance with the musical arrangement and composition of Julian Felipe.” It should be in a marching beat. HB 5224 specifies the proper rendition of "Lupang Hinirang" in accordance with the musical arrangement and composition of Juan Felipe: 2/4 beat when played, within the range of 100 to 120 metronome, in 4/4 beat when sang. It should be sang for 54 seconds, no more no less with the exact notes written by Julian Felipe. But as what you said, if this law is not existing, I would like to sing it loud, sing it on my own style with full of pride. 😊
