Offshore Combat Force (OCF): responsible for the overall offshore combat, maritime patrol, and territorial defense missions.
The Philippine Navy's Offshore Combat Force comes at the forefront as the service branch pushes for external defense, as this is the unit that manages those fleet capital warships, which include the ones considered the most sophisticated and state-of-the-art naval vessels that the country has presently, as a byproduct of the ongoing AFP modernization program.

@@edkrach8891 Yeah they're modernizing alright, but not at a pace that can DETER a potential adversary like the Chinese Navy, all our NAVY has achieved in 8+ years is gain a capability that can only face off with lesser powerful navies like that of Myanmar, Malaysia, etc. Against the Chinese, we're no match, a future battle with them at sea wouldn't last more than one day, our Navy will be crushed that easily. We need more funds from the National Government, less funds for Education & Infrastructure and "MORE FUNDS FOR THE AFP MODERNIZATION."

Our NAVY needs the following equipments for "Naval Deterrence." 1.) Naval Mines- about 10,000 to 30,000 mines of different types.(Bottom mines, Torpedo mines, Moored Influencer, Drifting mines, etc.) Strategic places that are in need of naval mines are the areas between Subic, across Manila Bay to Batangas, and other areas of strategic value, coz the area around Manila Bay/Bataan/Olonggapo/Batangas/Cavite is the "weakest point in our country's coastal defence" wherein a potential invader could make an amphibious assault, the fastest route going to MANILA, (PH SEAT OF POWER) is by Manila Bay, once the enemy lands there, then it's just a matter of time for them to barge into Malacanang Palace, + plus other key areas. If this thing happens, it COULD be a short war for us, relegating us to do "guerilla fighting, " like in WW2. True, we have our Brahmos missiles, but they are too few to make a big difference, and also because they are lacking in adequate multi-layered Air Defense System. (Short range, Medium range & Long range) We may not have anything to counter the DF-21's & DF-26's ballistic missiles which are hypersonic (total number of DF-21 & DF-26 is estimated to be around 1,250 to 1,400 missiles) Our enemy could use them to destroy our Naval Fleet and our Brahmos launchers within the vicinity (just outside the mouth/opening of Manila Bay and nearby areas) and if they're successful with this "Salvo attack" using ballistic missiles & maybe using too their long range YJ-18 & YJ-21 AShM's,(Air & Ship launched) totally destroying anything in their way, then they'll be virtually unopposed sailing, entering & disembarking their troops on Manila, Bataan, Cavite, etc. With Naval mines, even if our "potential foe" uses hundreds of combination, Surface ships, Amphibious Assault Ships, Aircraft Carrier, Commercial Ferry boats, Civilian Transport ships, Landing Ships, and etc. to make an Amphibious Assault Landing on Manila, Subic, Batangas and places nearby, they're going to be stopped from going forward, anywhere near these "NAVAL MINEFIELD" areas. With thousands of mines scattered all around, as no ship would dare cross a minefield at sea, which may take them 5 days to a week+ just to clear a path for their ships, but this will force them to think twice with this Amphibious Assault Operation, as the long process of mine clearing/demolition could make their ships a "sitting duck" from aerial and naval attack, and they may settle to do their attacks elsewhere, where they think there's no "Naval Minefield" to stop them. And MAYBE this could have a "DETERRING FACTOR" to it. * WW2, the Americans actually used hundreds "NAVAL MINES" to guard Manila Bay from the Japanese forces, they placed them ahead of Corregidor Island/ Fort Drum/ Carabao Island. * 1st Gulf War- the use of about 1,000 naval mines by the occupying Iraqi forces in Kuwait prevented/delayed a landing force of about 30,000 US troops from making an Amphibious Assault Landing on Kuwait shores via the Persian Gulf. Naval mines cost differently depending on the "tech" inside them, some are as low as $ 5000K/mine, others are $100K+/piece, say we peg ours around $ 50K/ unit x 10,000 mines = $ 500 Million Dollars(Minimum) $50K x 30,000 mines = $ 1.5 Billion Dollars(Maximum) 2.) NAVAL MINEHUNTERS & NAVAL SWEEPERS - we'll need 5 to 15 ships of this types. Estimated cost for each ship is somewhere between $ 250M to $300M/hull.(example is the Polish Navy Minehunter, Kormoran class which costs around $250M/ship) Do the math. 3.) Mine Laying Equipment- they're essential for speedier mine laying operations. Some of the commercially available mine laying equipments are placed at the stern section of a naval vessel,(sometimes atop the flight deck of a ship) and are dropped one by one in sequence, this could be a Coast Guard ship, Corvette, Frigate, etc. 4. ROV- Remotely Operated Vehicles. We'll need lots of these machines for Mine Clearing Training and actual mine clearing operations.

Couldn't agree more. In addition to this, I think our naval doctrine should also focus on coastal submarines and fast attack missile boats that is cheap to produce and could be able to take advantage of our littoral waters. Unmanned sea crafts would also be helpful as we have seen in Ukraine.
@user-uc9qt1mc5i
@user-uc9qt1mc5i Месяц назад
@@ieattofu8178 Thanks 4 the compliment. Yeah, I agree with your idea for our Navy to restructure or "tweak" a bit it's"doctrine," coz the situation necessitate a "better, more effective & cost efficient way" to build up our naval capabilities. I'm for missile boats too, but they should be armed with real AShM's(at least 2AShM) + 2 CIWS, Air & Surface search radars, navigation radar, fire control radar/system, ECM suite, CMS, 2 sets of countermeasures(decoys) + 2 sets of Sinbad ( Mistral missiles) stations, which I estimate, could be built for under $ 150 Million dollars per hull, (all complete with weapons & sensors) which is way cheaper compared to the J. Rizal class or Miguel Malvar class which costs around $ 280+M & $350+M respectively. (just my guess, I could be wrong)

Sadly the JRZ frigates we're downgraded during the previous admin. The HDC 3100 corvettes is another platform for testing new weapons and capabilities for the next frigate acquisition. The plans to acquire a 4000 ton frigate is just around the corner. Hopefully they choose the Arrowhead 140 or the Alpha 5000 which are both very capable warships. Or we could opt for a better ship, the FREMM frigates (especially the Lorraine ship which is dedicated for anti air warfare). There's also the New FFM from Japan which is a variant of Mogami Class Ships which is also focused on AAW. The latter ships I mentioned are a bit expensive but more reliable and is more capable. Regardless congrats to Ph Navy!
