The view from here is just breathtaking and the rice-terraces below looks far away and tiny. But the rice-terraces in Balaquid are as big as those more famous in Iyusan near Agta beach. By the sea, east from Balaquid, on the way to Cabucgayan, is a little lava peninsula with a small white sandy beach called Almadro beach. In the far distance is the little Poro island (Shoe island) where you can find a lovely white coral sand beach. The water is crystal clear and there are beautiful corals, good for snorkeling. From Biliran, you have a nice view over Leyte mountains. During WWII, in november 1944 some of the hardest battles were fougt on Breakneck Ridge near Limon. In Balaquid, the old still remember the planes crashing into Carigara bay during those days.
