This generation of Gilas is what we can really call a "team". Puso has always been present in Gilas all these years but something's lacking. First is a good coach, second is a genuine teamwork. They did not tried to impress by doing iso plays and did not play dirty, not even flops (well, not that I know) but they patiently trusted the system and their team mates.

Fast forward to 2021, when the PBA won't send the pros to the OQT and Asia Cup Qualifying, it took a bunch of promising amateurs to beat the Koreans. SBP please stick with this college players with the great Tab Baldwin to man the team I like their mental toughness better than the pros and coaches of the PBA mga kabado pag dayuhan na kalaban hehe.

Tab Baldwin never lost a game since 2019. This itself says a lot about his coaching style. He is definitely a good coach :)

PHI coach probably replayed Korea's Game 1 plays hundreds of times, and the veteran Baldwin knowing that the Korean coach is that 'proud', would retain most of KOR's game 1 plays. And he did. PHI defended from KOR's fave 3s spot (right side of the arc), limiting their outside shot attempts. Ra, having played 40 mins in the first game, would have some rest now that he has his backup, and Baldwin saw that coming. What Cho did was just to prove Gilas has a good coaching staff. He can say that Game 1 win was luck. Luck's part of the game. But PHI's Game 2 win is partly because of KOR's overconfidence (or just plain laziness). If I was head of KBA, I'd fire that guy.

The strength of coach Tab is because he is not afraid of losing and he is not worried of criticism. The reason why these young guns are playing with all their strength and heart is because their coach believe that even losing is beneficial and bringing all the best that you have is more than enough rather than accepting defeat.

Some Koreans think we won because of the biased calls from the referees and I find that disrespectful and discrediting. What they did not realize is that their guards were getting outsmart and their bigs are too slow to help Ra getting the rebounds. I think losing to an all amateur Filipino team did not sit well with them, they sent their almost A team but yet were beaten twice by a bunch of inexperienced collegiate players, just to remind them that Philippine team is even without the best college players we have here... imagine if Juan, Ricci, Thirdy and Mark Nonoy were there.

The Young Gilas made every recipe to defeat a strong Asian Team Like Korea National Team very good Hustle very good composure at such a young or early exposure to high level basketball competition in the international stage. Future is really bright fir this young team.
