John Jacob Excellent video! What a lifesaver this video; WAY better than the manual. I just got one. Yesterday - the manufacturer's authorized repair center in Lynwood, WA. said DO NOT use the filter if you use purified water. (I have one micron filtered water under the kitchen sink). They also said add a few tablespoons of tap, so the machine which is looking for certain chemicals 'see's them. Not saying you're wrong and they're right. Just FYI. I'm still setting mine up - with difficulty - my cataracts.
I have the 2200 and I find that the 1st espresso after the machine powers up is very watery. I let the little bit of purge water run into the tray before placing my cup but the end result is always the same. I think the machine holds onto a bit of clean water in the lines. 2nd cup and on is fine but it's annoying to have to always toss out the first cup when maybe all you want is 1 or 2 cups.
Hi there. It looks just like the ep2221. I brought one in January from a local retailer in my country. At the current prices it was 329$.I see yours is also made in Romania. I thought the ones made in our country are sold only in eastern europe but i see that they are sold worldwide. After 3 months of use and about 3kg of coffe i think it's a pretty good expreso machine for it's price.
There is only one thing I haven't figured out yet. What is the difference between the 1200 and the 2200 besides exterior? Other than that it's a great machine for it's price! It's on par with machines nearly twice as expensive. I bought one for at the office, liked it so much I bought one for myself at home as well
Sorry another quick question- when I choose espresso and open the tray the dump tray is more liquid but shouldn’t it be more solid? I’m not sure why that is- do you know why is that?
John, do u know why there is water drip prior to the espresso coming out of the spout? Is there a way to adjust the setting/machine to avoid that water drip?
Hi John, thank you for the demonstration. What is the best way to froth milk with the frother? I am trying to learn make Latte Art but I am not able to get proper milk froth with the frother. I watched general videos for frothing milk but seems like it doesn't work with this frother.
This is a panarello wand. You have no control over foam, just temperature. The longer you kelp it the hotter it gets, foam is automatic. For late art you need something like the breville barista express wand
Hi John! Thanks for the video 🙂 The grinder settin you have, is that give the strongest taste? Im asking because im not sure which way to turn the grinder to get stronger coffe
John do you power off the machine after you have made the espresso/coffee or you let it be on standby? I power off the machine after i have made my espresso but it feels like turning off the machinw that often cant be good?
Hey John! Thanks for the video! How do you like this machine so far? Did you find any cons? I've got same machine for couple months and I set grinder for the highest level (1) like you and I noticed that it kinda clogges the machine. I think it's because of too small pieces of coffee it grinds maybe. So what do you think?
Try changing it to a grind setting 2...that might do the trick...and be sure to clean the machine with the coffee oil remover every month...so far so good, the machine is over a yr old and no problems here.
Avoid oily beans. We use medium roast and I just cleaned the grinder after 9 years (older model but same basic guts). It was barely dirty/clogged, which surprised me, as we have gotten a LOT of use out of it.
Hello! First of all, thank you for this informative video! Could you please give an update on your experience of using the machine, now that 3 months have passed. Have you had any issues? The grinding noise does seem quite loud, could it possibly cause neighbor-related problems if used early in the morning? Have you had any maintenance-related costs? Any other thoughts would be appreciated!
It works great after 3 months... I rinse the mechanism weekly, I use coffee oil remover tablets monthly and in 2 month I will lubricate the mechanism... I'll post another video on my experience and how I maintain my machine.
@@JohnJacob Hi John, i've been adjusting the grinder to almost the finest grind setting. But now the machine is extremely slow and the coffee is filling drop by drop and not an even flow, sometimes there is only coffee coming from one pipe. Do you know if this is something normal? Do i need to brew x amount of cups before it will be "normal"'?
That's not normal... Try rinsing the mechanism or select coffee and select the hopper by holding the beans strength button until that lower portion lights up, then brew a full cup with no coffee in the hopper... Maybe it just needs cleaning... Also try swapping beans, a super oilly bean will clog it up sometimes.
Hi why did you set the grinder to 1? Is this better for the taste, i dont like sour coffee, would it help to put mine one 1 to? Thanks for the video man!
Thanks for watching and for your question... So it was set to 7 out of thr box, which is a course grind, and you can only change it one setting at a time with this machine which resulted in 7 shots of espresso... Espresso requires a finer grind than coffee but the finer you grind the stronger and different flavor you'll get... My preference was a 1 on the grind setting bc it was a bit stronger and taylored to my liking... If you have the same machine try setting it to 3 and try it out...its all about preferance! Hope this helps.
@@JohnJacob By the way you can adjust the water temperature in 4 levels when the machine is turned off. I think you just hit the play button for a couple of seconds and the grind level will be the water hardness, you can also set that, my machine comed with a tester and the water quantity will adjust the water temperatue, also in 3 levels.
1 is for fine grind. Preferred for making espresso perhaps, but not necessarily for regular coffee. You have to experiment with different beans and different settings. Taste is completely subjective.
Hey there! I bought this Product but i have no Aqua Cleaner :o . I bought the Series 1200 (ep1220). What Filter i have to buy? I only find some Filter but not for the Series 1200. Can i use some other Filters for Philips Maschines?
There's a pinhole on the side of the metal piece.. Take a toothpick and clean it out; it's probably clogged. I dishwash those pieces once a week as well.
Did it fixed your problem? I got mine like a month ago and about 2 weeks or so it started happening to me as well.. I'm just getting boiled milk, not like before.. I checked again to see and it's not clogged, I requested return already but idk what to do because it's probably gonna cost me like 30-50$ to ship it back
Hi John, i bought recently one. But i dont have the aquacleaner filter with it. Must it be purshed extra? I mean that filter thay goes in de water, that u need to shake for 5 sec before installing it
Great video thank you. quick question I am debating with this machine and the Breville XL870. actually debating between automatic and xl870 any guidance or recommendation. much appreciated
I know this is an old question, but if you haven't reached a decision yet, get the Breville. I had the Phillips 4300 LatteGo, and I was very unhappy with the coffee. I then switched to the Breville Barista Pro, and it makes a far better coffee. The reason is that all superautomatics use pressurized portafilter baskets, which cannot make a decent espresso
@@JohnJacob The folks at Seattle Coffee told me that Espresso is brewed up many bars of pressure and the coffee was not. Don't know if that's actually true or not though.
Great video! Quick question, how weak is the weakest coffee you can make? We Scandinavians tend to like it a bit weaker and I was wondering if this machine can do it.
Vc me doaria uma cafeteira desta não falo em comprar pois sofri um grave acidente quase fui a obito mas o senhor me deixou aqui Sem o senhor não sou nada nen ninguém Amém
