I had just about given up on this light because of frustrations in getting it to work properly. Thank you for this video! I feel like I finally get the functions
I had one of the older models in high school, damn near 20 years ago now…Im tired of keeping my phone near my head at night so I’m switching back to one of these! Can’t wait for those peaceful early morning wake-ups.
Thanks for showing that you can dim the digital display, but can you actually turn it off entirely so the time is not staring at you in the face? Thanks!
The manual states that the contrast can be reduced to "0" but as shown in this video, mine only goes down to "1". I've been putting a folded tshirt in front of this display for years and I'm tired of it!!! Show me the hacks
Attention! Planned obsolescence ... this series is broken after 24 months - see the Amazon reviews! The "planned defects" occured frequently in my HF 3520 after the warranty period - at first, the front touch switches do not work (any more) as suspected (for example, I can not turn off the alarm using them). It is still possible to turn on / off the lamp, radio, etc. - but not the alarm. The snooze function is extremely lacking after 2 years (in the past it was easy to activate by touching - sind about 3 - 4 months I have to nearly hit the display several times to activate it). The alarm works for me as follows, the simulated sunrise works as suspected with the rising levels of brightness, but when the alarm time is reached, the light suddenly goes off - the alarm sound is still on. The problems started for me after about 2 years (shortly after the warranty period) ... I expect that it will suddenly break and do nothing more (as can be seen from the other reviews on Amazon) - a similar error is described (in the comments) with the Hue lamps. Remember, it was the company Philips by the 1920s (one of many as a cartell) who reduced the life of light bulbs by antitrust fines - some of which still seem to have stuck with this company.
Is this true? I've been wanting to get the HF3520 because its good quality but if it doesn't even work after 2 years is there even any reason to get it?
I actually have EXACTLY the same problem. Out of nowhere it has brightened until the set time and then light shuts off and radio turns on. NOT what it did a month ago and not what it is set to do. If this is happening among many then it's more suspicious this is intended planned defect.
How do you set it so that the light does not turn off when it reaches the alarm time? I want it to keep glowing at the brightness I selected until I turn it off, not when the alarm reaches its time.
They should release an updated version that has an app you can sync to the device to make it easier to function cause this is quite a difficult set up process
Thank you so much for posting this...I was ready to give up! Did not realize you have to tap (lightly) the alarm button to the alarm symbol appears on the face to actually activate the alarm! The manual is useless!!
From what I'm aware (reviews; I'm about to get one myself) is that the light increases slowly before the alarm goes off, and has dfone the wakeup bit before the alarm goes off. I think.
I wake up with my cellphone alarm and with a good mood, so I wonder if this product is gonna help me or something similar. Also, I'm between this wake-up light and a Lenovo Smart Clock (normal clock but with Alexa built-in). What would you do?
I've had my light for four years now and I still don't know how to set the gradual turn off of the light. It comes on at 6:45 and I leave for work at 7:45. I'd like to set it to turn off at 7:45. But it stays on until 8:45 or something. I stayed home one day and watched it. I know how to turn it off manually but I want to know how we set it to slowly turn off on its own?
Thanks for video, good review. I never use radio as wakeup. You never know what they are playing, or if they have problems with broadcast so its completely silent :P
Breaking this bad boy and the sonic alarm as a duo. That should get me on a solid early morning schedule. You ever try those zen alarm clocks? Taps on a metal rod to wake you up
This explanation does seem all over the place if you would’ve started with the correct time of the current day everything else would’ve been a lot easier
You forgot to tell the most often used and one of the moste annoying feature. How to shut off alarm at morning 😂 You just can,t figure out how to snooze, how to shut down alar, light, or both at morning. 😂 User interface of this thing really is horrible in many ways. I still like the idea of waking up at 'sun light' and use this. But quite hard to imagine how to design more horrible and hard to use user interface than this. 😂
Thank you; you were more helpful than the instruction book but it would have been easier to follow if there hadn't been a glare RIGHT where you were programming on the front.
In 24 hour mode there is no am or pm because it just continues from 12 to 13hundred hours, then 14:00, and so on until you get to midnight and start over again.
Lol this is the most complicated alarm clock in the world. shouldn’t need a 10-minute long instructional video just to figure out how to set my alarm clock. Terrible product.
