When I was in German primary school (Grundschule) the school had these video cassettes for educational programs. I asked my father why we hadn't this at home - he looked up the price, You could get a good used small car for the price back in time...

very nice - I used to edit on Sony U-matic in some late 80s college extension classes and I was a big VHS fan in the 80s, working at a video store etc. this format is news to me - very interesting and your presentation was excellent :-)

I remember seeing these on sale for £750 in 1977 (in a couple of different department stores). I picked up a brochure - which I didn't keep for long, unfortunately.

I bought a Phillips N1700 secondhand in 1979. The wretched thing did nothing but break down.

Those old recordings might be considered lost and of some value. A lot of UK stuff from the 80s and earlier is lost I believe.

interesting, in fact the main difference between VCR-LP and SVR is obviously only tape speed, as picture is shown normally (except bar noise due to speed difference). so it's not a total incompatibilty like VCR and VCR-LP so we can imagine modifying a VCR-LP servo to match SVR speed. and so SVR can be considered as a VCR "SLP" :D

The VCR System has many Problems: 1.The Cassettes has only 60 Minutes for Recording 2.When you play the Cassettes more and more, the Drop Outs are very dangerous with the Time 3.The Band of the Cassettes has not Metall Particles and the Video Head is broken in 1 Year of Playing....At next, Philips goes to VHS in the Years later.

the pitty is those who had a high-end system from betamax and next year ,not the standart type ,mainly in big cities the movies were still released in beta AND vhs when videoclubs were a very profital business, i would record with high quality ,all releases and sold or rented the movies that were hard to find in videoclubs because whenever available it wouldn´t stay there for more than hours normally they would be at my home making copies and be the more seeked after cassette seller or rental using cheap but good SKC cassettes, i had three ways of making money when vhs video clubs were a fine business, even later when they stoped releasing new movies or films in Beta i would record them with a high quality to beta cassettes in stereo hi-fi and they would pay me a litle money to see and a bit more to buy them,in gave the option of making a cover like the original using a fotocopy machine that by that time were very evolved, in colour printing but there were some that make blue some other colour when copying

mine was much more modern looking and came with a huge philips tv in stereo with box type speakers with treble and bass control with a modern desin no knobs or keys out of it´s flat shape as the video ,the cassettes were smaller but had a way of rotating without any problem and more tinyer than huge VHS, betamax had not yeat been released ,at least where i live but Beta was without a doubt the best ever system in video and sound(betamax professional)
