Except TitanOS is terrible to the point where you end up wanting to use an AppleTV, Nvidia Shield or Chromecast with Google TV. You are at the mercy of Philips to add the apps you need through firmware updates and oh boi, they decided to add PORN APPS THAT YOU CAN NOT UNINSTALL! At least it is kinda hidden away behind a submenu, but still. I do not want it installed on my TV. I never asked for it to be installed on my TV.
@@Ozzianman Perhaps Tizen is not very good anymore but my Q90R from 2019 has a very nice TizenOS, it has almost all of the above stated features except some occasional minor ad boxes. But Tizen changed a few years later with the QN90B model, then it became a fullscreen OS rather than just a menu at the bottom of the screen. LG's WebOS on the C9 is also very good.
@@johnsmithy7918 TitanOS, not TizenOS. TItanOS is Philips's own SmartTV OS that is used in the PML9008. TizenOS is a perfectly fine OS as it is not locked down to the point of being useless. The image quality on the PML9008 is great! But if you wanna do streaming, then you kinda have to get a streaming box. It does not have any of the streaming apps native to my country.
Good review as always. I'd like to give a constructive feedback, the sound of your voice keeps changing position while using a headphone, that is a bit annoying and distracting. Otherwise good video!
And to be honest packs a heavy punch bit wise just got another oled for my games room and this 9008 has alot more brightness thats for sure philips 907 65 is the one for the record @@212roblox212
The fact you get far superior Google TV os on the lesser non-mini-led 8808 baffles me, and the only reason I backed out. If it weren't for ambilight, other brands would surely be better.
The thing i like about this tv is the screen ...compared to the hisense u7k i just had ...the screen on u7k had lines running down the screen on greys amd colour's..this pml9 on white ...grey and colours is so smooth . What tv is better than this at the similar price ?
It seams like decent TV with good picture. It's a shame they decide to use native Saphi OS with 98% useless apps instead Google/Android OS in this higher end model. In general good review and keep them coming.
I had this tv. Just returned it for repairs due to light bleed along the bottom. I like the tv but I think they should have left out the built in sound bar as it’s really far along the bottom/back. We’ll see if they can fix the light bleed issue I have
I need to know. What happens if you plug in an XBOX Series X console and enable 120Hz? In my case it displays a pink screen until I disable 120Hz and go back to 60Hz.
c3 has better night contrast, or go with philips oled8 2023 if u can still find it, pml9008 or latest 9009 have the best brightness for bright sunny rooms....
Hello, I couln´t see properly the height of the display, could you tell me which is the measure between the base and the display? I have a sound bar and as I see, the TV is so low...
How good is the upscaling of lower resolution content? In particular for watching TV with is usually at 720p? How does upscaling compare to the TCL c805? Thanks!
I've had the TCL C805 for almost a year and from the very start, when I connected it, I was disappointed with the upscaling pictures and I'm even more disappointed with the picture movement, because this is the worst TV bio I've ever had or seen. As I researched, I found that everything I played from the USB key was good in terms of image movement, but when I watch from Apps, the image movement is bad, sometimes more and sometimes less. The most interesting thing is that if I have the TV connected to an external antenna, it's even worse to watch the movement of the picture and it's a total disaster when you watch skiing, ski jumping, hockey... I know that I will NEVER try another TV other than Sony, of course, if I have the money for it or a Phillips TV, and maybe next to these two I would also include Samsung in the end, I don't care about anything else. I currently have an almost 15-year-old working Sony TV, then a Samsung, which went to the service for a panel change before it was 2 years old, and I also have a Philips TV for more than 4 years, which works without problems, then I also have the cheapest Hisense TV, which your money is what it is and now the last TCL 55C805 TV will be almost a year old, which disappointed me very much. I forgot to say that quite often this TCL has to be restarted because otherwise it is totally frozen because you wait for half a minute for something to turn around, it's this kind of crap or I got a broken TV.
Ive just bought this pml9008 65inch. Conoared to the hisense u7k i just had ...the picture and screen seems more natural and no bar strips of light running down the tv. This 9008 seems smooth. Only thing im having trouble with is the fact the tv ...when i turn it off turns the tv back on and goes to the firestick. Also i came down the othe day and for some reason the amberlights were on and no screen. I oressed all buttons etc and the screen never came on. Only way was to turn the tv off at the wall. Cant get alexa to work either . Should i send it back?
For the problem with the Firestick, that comes from EasyLink, it must be deactivated. I think that an update will solve the problem because it is very annoying indeed
I've had the firestick off ...I've had it out of the tv ...the screen goes blank sometimes switching to an input. The lights come on for no reason but will not turn the tv back on . It switches the ps5 on when I turn the tv off. Yes I've tried the ps5 settings and yes I can solve it but it doesn't say ps5 on the input list nor does the ps5 now turn the tv on . There's other things wrong with this tv. I'm about to just swap it like for like but seems like this is just a bad tv that shouldn't be on the market
I would also try the ambilight cycle button so it goes red green blue then white warm and then white natural then off altogether and also make sure it's not on with any other setting like hue sync on your Philips hue app if you use that too
I had the same issue when I linked my tv decoder out of the box and update the tv. To solve the issue, you have to reset the TV in parameters, then do not link the tv decoder from the instalation guide and i did not update the TV too. IT IS WORKING SO SMOOTH NOW :D I love this TV
Depending by dark scene you watching, from 7 to 9. This miniled led has better blacks only in comparison with 400 - 600 nits led tvs, but it cannot compete with oled, because it has only 100 mini led zones. while some top tier mini led can have more than 1000 zones. while 2022 version pml9007 has 5000 zones, ... this year philips changed power of the series, so its not comparable with old 9 series, but i think its still very good tv if you compare it with 8 series and even qled and oled, because it has excellent 1000 nits hdr brightness.
@@TechWatcher There is no such a TV as PML9007 but it's PML9507 and it doesn't have 5000 zones but only 256-512 depending on the size while PML9506 and PML9636 2021 models had 1024 zones and were Phillips first Mini LEDs and yet their best Mini LEDs so far. Philips has been downgrading their PML series year by year. I had all three, tested all three and PML9008 is by far the worst because it has the least dimming zones, IPS panel, Saphi OS, 3 sided ambilight instead of 4, does not have the next-generation Ambilight with Aurora, has a very cheap remote without mic... I could go on and on, it's such a downgrade, it's a complete joke! It's just an average TV with quite some bugs on top and way overpriced.
@@bugraakbay I bought this TV, but I didn't use it, I just had a campaign that I would use at home, I bought it for $ 80, I bought it because it was affordable
Wait... they remove the google assicst/ microphon of the remote control ? And this TV is till missing in our market (Bulgaria). For some reason Philips don't import MiniLED here, even last year you can't fine a miniLED almost anywhere . Btw up to 1000 nits.. is not a lot, Samsung QN90C is 2000 nits.
On my Q90R things could get pfetty bright, but it always came at the cost of something else like shadow detail. In practise, after making the necessary changes to get a balanced picture, peak brightness of the Samsung was effectively useless.
@@johnsmithy7918 Q90R is great TV, i was lucky enough to get next one 75" Q95T on sales and I love it. I didn't look for such a problem, because if you look for a problem in a TV, you will always find one. I say before.. there is not perfect TV so I don't care so much. I got LG OLED65CX and after one year I sell it, finding some problems with uneven coloring and DSE issues but the Q95T I will keep it forever. Now aiming for some QDOLED, maybe e on back friday.
Imroved motion... Does the the one 8909 also have improved motion? I have a oled 808.. picture quality is amazing.. but after a while i get headache and nosious. So i wonne try 8909 because philips has the best tv,s.
I am also looking for the right settings, because currently I find that the TV hurts the eyes extremely. Comparatively I had an old LED tv without mark 1080p, And I find the balance of color / contrast / light much better on the old TV.
@@PierreFerra Maybe just try turning the brightness down as all the TV's are set to the highest brightness to "convince" people in the stores to buy them (where it is exceedingly bright - usually at home it is much, much, much darker).
lg has similar ips mini led screens, but slightly more powerful brightness and dimming than philips, in terms of apps and remote experience is also superior, though difference is not huge, but philips remote doesn't have voice control and some apps like hbo, disney are still work in progress. Planned release for 2023 philips smart tvs os is with 2024 app updates, so the main advantage philips have are ambilight and its p5 picture and sound calibration.

I tried the RU-vid App in the store and when you switch to 4k the 65" crashes almost immediately whereas the 55" held out a little bit longer. Is it SaphiOS? There are so many conflicting informations out there about the OS of the PML9008...
@@TechWatcher Thanks for the reply. It is dealbreaker the IPS panel. From the other side i am not sure if Hisense 55U7KQ has VA panel in Europe. For USA market is VA. For Europe some people said that they brought it and has IPS panel
Hello again, thank you bery much for your answer. I bouhht the phlips PML9008 and it has some problem with the display. Now I am considering to return it, and buy the LG lg qned866re, what do you think? Is it better than the philips?? Thank you very much again.
philips has a lot tv panels from lg, so similar quality, though it has some tweaks with picture processing, it all depends by screen sizes, usually 50" and 70"+ have the best screen contrast white black grey uniformity, while others have best viewing angle.
I wanted to buy this TV but now I know I won't - I'd need a separate TV box to watch HBO Max which is just ridiculous. Why did they go with the Saphi OS, there's plenty of Philips TV's with android.
philips tp vision eu will update all 2023 2024 tvs, so disney and hbo will work, in the meantime u can use 4k android hdmi stick instead of box and its also usable for travel, just plug it everywhere and you have all your android apps.
Merhabalar ben Türkiye’den yazıyorum ben de yeni aldım siyahlık oranı eski televizyonuma kıyasla yan yana koyduğumda çok fark ediyor işletim sistemi kötü ama ben Apple TV ile kullanıyorum Türkiye’den herkese sevgiler selamlar
WTF the remote looks SO cheap in comparison with my "old" 65" basic LED (not even The One) from Philips, with richer looks and design, voice control, full keyboard in the other side... Also, the absence of Android OS in this supossed higher tier TV, is annoying. So, not Disney+ or HBO until a new firmware arrival??? I were looking for a replacement for my actual Philips in the lounge, but i think it's better option either buying The One, or jumping to the OLED series spending some more.
Pity, you haven't mentioned anything about clouding issue in this model. It is a huge problem. Also, whereas I agree on the level of detail and colors - easily best in class - the black levels, especially at different angles, are not the best. Cheaper Philips LCDs are actually better at this. All in all, fantastic TV (ambilight is next level experience) if not the clouding issues.
yes there are many versions of pml9 with different type of screens, mva, va, ips, etc. ips black, grey picture uniformity is average at the best, but its not a distraction, but for someone who own oled and va type tv it will be a problem. so if you want the perfect contrast is the best to buy va or oled type led tv.
well it depends if you watch sports, philips has still the best calibrated colors and 50% more brightness, while tcl and hisense have impressive specs for the price, they are limited in some areas, hisense has less brightness and tcl has slower motion, native refresh rate. at the end of day, ambilight can make difference
@@TechWatcher i will use it mainly to watch football, basketball and movies. But probably i will need android box because I saw that this Philips model is not Android tv
Sve me ovo podsjeća na prvu Samsung Qled seriju .
its more like a bridge between 7 and 8 series, without mic and android apps, but its still has overall better hdr brightness performance than 8 series. if they will lower the price and release all promised apps in next weeks, it will be very good alternative if you want affordable mini led with ambilight.
tcl is slightly brighter and has better contrast, philips has better calibrated colors, otherwise similar, unless u want extra philips ambilight its easy decision...
