Hey, really interesting and detailed video! I just had a couple questions regarding the headphones: 1. Coming for a non-audiophile background with very basic knowledge of slightly more in depth knowledge of sound compared to the average person, how would these compare to something like the Bose QC25 (which I own)? I find the Bose QC25 lack some volume and have ok bass and treble. 2. Compared to my current gaming headset (HyperX Stinger), would you say upgrading to the Philips SH9500 is a substantial leap forward? I currently believe the sound on the HyperX Stingers to be just fine for gaming. However, the build quality and the microphone leave something to be desired and I was looking for something to game with and to listen to music or movies casually at home. 3. Would you happen to know any websites or videos that explain some more specific terms related to sound that you mentioned in the video (soundstage, imaging, etc)? Thanks!
@notlian6279

Is it a big leap? Yeah, I found it easier to track sounds on the SHPs compared to my Cloud Alpha's which is considerably better than your stingers. Gaming Audio Guide thank you for replying and clarifying. So this means it’s the best option for that 110$ budget with the Condenser Mic ? I mean this price could give you alot of good quality headphones also I found out after ordering about the ad700x which clearly alot of people think is better in gaming but has less quality sound in general and cost 91$! So can you give me your professional opinion on what is the best budget picks and what do you recommend?
@gamingaudioguide9292
@gamingaudioguide9292 4 года назад
@@jojoo4094 i like the 9500 more than the ad700x. the 9500 is more comfortable, less chunky in appearance and head feel, less sibilant, has a removable cable and has nicer build quality. the ad700x can sound very tinny. the ad700x has a wider sound stage and maybe images slightly better than the 9500, but i cannot recall for certain. even if it does do both slightly better than the 9500, the drop off in sound quality is not worth it. these two aren't all that close for me, but you are right some prefer them. what mic did you go with and are you doing anything with the mic other than gaming? the vmoda boom pro will actually work in-line with the shp9500, so that is another option but your use-case is important.

Hey dude! Some questions. I have tinnitus/sensitive ears because of that so i get fatique quickly. This is the reason im looking into open backs. But with the 9500 your ears touch the drivers :o. Doesnt that make it fatique quickly too? I am specifically not choosing the beyer 990 pro's because im reading it sounds sharp. That Will Hurt my ears. But now I read some reviews about the 9500 also being a bit bright and having sibilance. Im a bit scared it aggetating my sensitive ears. (sometimes plugging my Sony xm3 in and they dont have this problem) Also the missing imaging in the front and back. Will i know where the shots exactly are? @@gamingaudioguide9292 I'm comparing them to my Steel Series Arctis 5's and Corsair Elite Wireless. But like I said the SHP9500'S just wasn't for me. I don't like outside noise open backs have. I realized this when I tried it. For gaming such as shooters I think its important to only hear the sound of the game only which is what closed backs generally do. At least in my opinion. I did enjoy how it looked and the light weight feel for the SHP9500.

pros and cons to both, so it depends what you want. the 559 does have better stage and more importantly imaging, so in comp gaming its probably the right choice. the shp9500 is far more comfortable, better build quality (559 is super plastic build) and slightly more resolving.

Gaming Audio Guide oh shuut., I was hoping for maybe another option for me (PS4/soundblasterG3) hd800 is everyone’s dream, but at that price.. I pass. After my Gameones broke I bought the ATHADG1X but I don’t completely love them, they sounds dry to me. I was thinking on trying the gsp500 or shp9500-boom mic, unfortunately the gsp500 mic seemed to no work through usb DAC for any reason (I can’t confirm this) if I was wrong and gsp500 mic work indeed then will chose those since I like the sennheiser sound profile, otherwise then I have to go shp9500.

Gaming Audio Guide since I already had game one I was thinking to upgrade now in 2020, there should be better out there, I ordered a pair of shp9500 and a gsp500 to do the ultimate comparison agains my experience with gameones and current Athadg1x. I’ll keep the ones that I Iiked the most with better imaging and sound pleasure.
