I love philodendrons because they are easy to care for. This one was bought just over a week ago and had problems with the leaf. Philodendrons are very easy to care for except watering regime. They like to be moist but not damp at all times and also they don't like to be bone dry.
I have understood over the past year that we kill plants mostly with over-watering than under-watering!
If you are unsure, just dip your full finger into the pot and you feel dry then it is time to water. Every one has their own methods and do what works for you. Also compost plays big part in how often you need to water.
Thank you for watching.

Hi Oliver. The leaves which were brown they can't recover but all new growth is healthy. At the time of video the new growth foliage was rotting but now plant has recovered. Philodendron takes time to settle but if soil mixture and watering is correct they bounce back. They are easy to care for. I will make a video of soil mixture because that is very important to get right for aroid species.

@@urbantropicaluk I got mine from the local market. It looked healthy and in good shape when I brought it. I re-potted it and watered with liquid fertilizer as suggested on the instructions. I use humidifier to keep the air humid. But the leaves started turning yellow-brown. I am very worried. I relocated the plant. I think I used too much fertilizer. But it's just all speculations. Thanks for your videos though, very helpful.

@@adels8205 Never fertilize plant when you bring it home. Let it settle for a week and you will know if plant is in stress. I use worm castings and seaweed liquid for natural fertiliser. Over fertilizing kills plants . Also only repot newly bought plant if it's in bad soil I.e not airy and no drainage media and yellow leaves. Otherwise let the plant settle in your home. When you make so many changes it is very hard to pinpoint the problem. I have bought philodendron verrucosum , again bad soil and I am going to repot it soon in the correct media. I really hope your plant recovers soon. If you are in UK there should be really no fertilizing as plants won't grow in winter.

Hi, I just wanted to add that it took a while for plant to recover from yellow leaves. All new growth has come out lush green and I have experienced the same with Philodendron Verrucosum, when arrived it was getting yellow leaves and I am going to repot that too. Happy repotting.
