I’m a new plant growing in my home. I’ve had gardens etc. The Squamiferum philodendron and snow drift philodendron are one of my fav new plants I got on sale at grocery store . As soon as I got them I was so obsess with them. I have mine sun the sun room and alllow the soil get dry two inches where it looks like it need water. And they been thriving thankfully also I have a humidifier next to them two. So maybe I have a green thumb but she has a new leaf growing after 3 weeks in the middle . She loving the sun room and environment. Thank you for the advice I need to be alert as now I know they prone to root rot. I love the plant it’s probably my fav one so far.

When I got my Squami the petilotes were bright red which I loved, but after 6 months they are turning green! I want them red, what should I do? I tried putting her in the morning sun for a few hours but still no improvement.

Hi I have a big and very bushy Philodendron Squamiferum it’s been sitting in indirect light by the same window for a long time and had lots of new growth. Last week I decided to take two cutting to propagate two new plants. But for some unknown reason the leaves underneath the cutting have wilted and are droopy also an unfurled leaf on the same vine. Otherwise the leaves at the base of the plant are fine. Please advise me if you can? Thanks

It could be caused by stress, this is one of the way plants adapt after taking cuttings. Another reason could be the seasonal changes, i don't know if your region has four seasons, but your plant could also be adapting to the colder temperatures. Also, unfurled leaves usually need more humidity to do their thing and grow further. Let me know if this helps and how your plant is doing 💚

Thanks I checked the plant today and moved it to a brighter window. I also noticed there was water sitting in the bottom of the pot so perhaps it was to moist although it’s growing in cocoa coir and it doesn’t feel wet it could be it doesn’t like humidity. It’s not seasonal because my home is warm all year due to heating in the winter and I’m in Australia so we are now in spring, and we do get seasons. Hopefully it will recover over the next few days there’s a lots of bushy healthy leaves other than the two sad ones :(

Can this plant grow in water or lecca.

100%, but try to grow one from cuttings. If you try to adapt roots grown in soil to water, there is a possibility of rotting

Thank you. What about putting the plant in Lecca.

It's the same principle, try to grow directly in leca

When you say grow directly in lecca, what do you mean. @@plantsbutbetter

It's better to take cuttings and grow them directly in leca. For example, you can cut a pothos plant and place that cutting directly in your favorite jar. Add leca and water and soon enough you'll have a new plant grown directly in leca 😁
