That is so freaking badass, that engine is so pretty in the 51 it doesn't have the sound but you can't expect that from that size of engine, but it sure has the looks!
Maybe try designing a gas powered 4 stroke V12 in the future. I know the logistics in that endeavor are immense but it would be amazing. Beautiful engineering on your V12!
That was awesome - havent seen many non electric rc planes - i think these are way cooler. is the weight a big issue when flying, is that when it landed it didnt glide down?
The extra weight can be an issue on landing as you need to keep a higher speed then normaly but once in the air it controlled well. We are improving the throttle control at low RPM to improve landing.
*Beautiful* Have a Wonderful Winter Solstice. A traditional celebration dating back more than 5000 years in which the Sun is literally rebirthed in the passageway of an ancient tomb, (where have you heard that before?) "The Grand Passage Tomb", a World Heritage site. A celebration of life and renewal, peace and camaraderie with food, song, dance drink and good cheer. Happy Holidays. Let the Sunshine In... *Be Happy*
My god....if you could get that engine up to 1/2 scale...with a proper ignition using avgas...The home builders (EAA)would be in your kitchen raiding your refrigerator. Would make a nice Hotrod engine, too.
Too bad there is already a real "Q-scale" 4-stroke V8 RC engine in "mass production" and there isn't any such thing as a "half scale" experimental aircraft.
@@deeremeyer1749oh but there is! Is a company called W.A.R. selling kits and plans for 1/2 scale ww2 planes (you fly in, not RC) plenty of 5/8 to 7/8 flyable ww1 replicas.... have you heard of the Bally Bomber? Guy built himself a 1/3 scale B17 - single seat, with four 100hp Hirth engines. A guy up here (Canada) built himself a two-seat C130 Hercules, with four vw engines. I understand he flew it at least once, but was very underpowered.
There was a fellow in my dad's model engineering club who was building a half scale Merlin V12. He'd built several working radial and rotary engines previously so no doubt had the tools and know-how to make it happen.
@deeremeyer You don't know about WAR( War Aircraft Replicas)? Most of thier products are half scale. Kit's assembled at home...makes them EXPERIMENTAL aircraft.
The tail wheel came off. It was the last thing that I would have thought was going to fail. I was obsessed with worrying about radiator hoses leaking, water pumps failing, electronics giving problems, gearbox problems etc. none of which were a problem.
Well this is gonna hurt your feelings, but I’m a new manufacturer of the world’s first production 1/4 scale unlimited hydroplanes, and I’m currently working on a super charged version of v12 going into a overdriven 3 gear v-drive box assembly.. so my comment wasn’t being negative towards video, I’ve heard them in person. The video microphone doesn’t pick up the sound we all can’t hear.. That’s a bad ass plane, people like him paved the way for me.. I have nothing but respect..
its 2023 we have 8k video and amazing mics even on phones... pls dont tell me you can spend all that money on a engine but cant afford even a android phone that could take waaay better video and sound.
The P51 is horrible at slow speeds, and it's stall characteristics are that of a rock falling quickly through the air.. Even when perfectly balanced, it stalls like a rock falls.
We are currently installing the V12 engine with increased power output into a 1/4 scale P51. This should greatly reduce wing loading and improve the flight handling characteristics.
Misere , votre avion est trop lourd . C’est beau , mais un caillou volant qui atterrie trop vite et cassera ses train , et ses helice . Dommage . Mais vous vous etes fait plaisir …
