We spent serveral days of wonderful safari holiday in Phinda Game Reserve, South Africa. Phinda is situated in the eastern end of the country, almost on the coast, and may not be as well known (and as large) as the Kruger National Park and its neighboring game reserves. But the density of wildlife as well as the diversity of natural landscape is amazing. Although we were not lucky enough to see a leopard here (which we saw a lot in Sabi Sand where we had stayed just before moving to Phinda), the ample sighting of cheetahs and lions made our safari drives unforgettable. We also saw a black rhino which is much rarer than the white rhinos (the white ones are everywhere here).
Phinda Game Reserve is entirely managed by the company « & Beyond ». The lodges are wonderfully luxurious and comfortable, and the rangers are amazingly friendly, well experienced and professional.
Traveled in August 2016, and stayed in Phinda Forest Lodge and in Phinda Mountain Lodge.
See my video of Sabi Sand which we visited before Phinda.

What type of camera do you use for this filming?

I am using one of the reasonable Nikon relex cameras (D7000), which is conceived for taking photos rather than videos. (So I usually take photos only, but of course you get very tempted to take films, too, when on safari holiday.) Compared with the real video cameras, taking films with this kind of reflex camera is quite tiring, firstly because you need to hold the camera with your arms stretched forward (as you cannot see through the usual peeping hole) and it is very difficult to stablize the camera in this way. And then, the screen doesn’t show well the image you are filming because of the sunlight refelction. It also give the unnecessary mechanical noise when the lens moves for auto-focusing (which you can here unfortunately in this video, too.) Anyway, thank you.
