Why everyone is mentioning every part of the song but ignoring one of the best breakdown entries of all times? That little stop at 1:16 makes me feel a sweet heart attack. Holy fucking crazy breakdown start \m/
Fate: What mere men define as the end Fate: What I’ve seen as just the beginning I am more than just a man I walk in promise as an eternal soul I am not afraid to die I may bleed but my soul is well I may fall but I will live to tell If you should strike me down I return tenfold I may be dressed in skin but it’s only a threshold Oh, I was called the moment that you opened my eyes To bring retribution to those who would steal your lives I tip the scale of the world (I tip the scale of the world) With the weight of all compassion on my back I tip the scale of the world (I tip the scale of the world) But it’s my burden to bear (burden to bear) If you should strike me down, I return tenfold I may be dressed in skin but it’s only a threshold I may bleed but my soul is well I may fall but I will live to tell If you should strike me down I return tenfold I may be dressed in skin but it’s only a threshold I tip the scale of the world I am more than just a man I was called the moment that you opened my eyes To bring retribution to those who would steal your lives
But his spirit still wandering around termina. His face and soul became one with the hero of time. He lives on... But yeah still technically dead. I weep every night for him
pretty much the only Christian band I can listen to I tend to avoid religious bands because I just can't relate to the message something I appreciate in my music, but damn these guys are so good
If you don't care for preachy lyrics, you might check out Silent Planet. They're really good friends with these guys; they're a Christian band and they talk about their faith but their lyrics tend to look at things more philosophically. Their first album (The Night God Slept) was a concept album talking about seven women throughout history who witnessed some of humanity's darkest moments (EG: Darkstrand [Hibakusha] is talking about Hiroshima/Nagasaki) yet overcame despair and found hope. Their second album that came out a few months ago (Everything Was Sound) picks up where The Night God Slept left off, which was with the description of a vision-like experience that the band's vocalist experienced. The whole of Everything Was Sound deals with mental illnesses and how people both misunderstand and mistreat those with mental illnesses in today's society, and begins, ends and meets at the center with songs talking about bipolar disorder (Inherit the Earth, REDIVIDEЯ, and Inhabit the Wound; Inherit the Earth and Inhabit the Wound are two parts of the same song, and REDIVIDEЯ is a symmetrical song and lyrical palindrome). They're not quite as heavy as Phinehas by any means, but where they lack the extra heaviness, they make up for it in hauntingly beautiful atmosphere, thought-provoking lyrics and the unique "shouted poetry" vocal style that their vocalist utilizes. They're one of the most unique, amazing Christian bands out there along with Phinehas. :)
