Well at least she seems genuinely enjoying it - - I hated when Fallon presented bands this way, so distracting and cheesy - ruined a whole week of Springsteen appearances - like a really bad local 60s tv rock show. Using people as "props" - now the politicians all do it!
i remember thinking damn this sucks (i was 18, and it was the beginning of phish being "back" since I got into the band at age 15). I was listening to A TON of stuff for those years- mostly 95,96,97,98, and some 2003/2004, and now they were back playing some new cheesy material on late night! WTF. Shred it boys. Oh i was so naive-- and so turned off to new stuff. I look back and am honestly ashamed. KDF is a cool tune. SO many new songs post 2009 are very cool. I also enjoy the less jammy ballads or composed stuff way more than i did back then. Maybe I am just getting old- Idk. I just wanna say its nice to rewatch this like 12 years later and think ya know that was actually pretty awesome! and for phish to do a 5 min type slot isn't easy. they are just so talented and we are all so lucky to enjoy their music. THANK YOU! 2c
Their new stuff is great! I saw the version 1.0 Phish many times in the 90’s. I just saw 3.0 in New York for the New Year’s Run after a long break from seeing them live and those were some of the best shows I have seen. I really enjoyed the new material and I think all true Phish fans will enjoy their new stuff too.
As someone who is gonna miss the fuck out of Dead & Co. and very tepidly treads Phish territory, do you recommend them to someone like that? Not sure where they typically play in Chicago, but I'd go to a show after Dead & Co. splits, I dig the jam scene but don't know if anyone other than the Dead and the Allmans would do it for me, but open to checking Phish out.
@@wafflcoptras someone who grew up going to ABB shows with my dad and also listening to the Dead and going to Dead and Co. shows…Phish is the best of the 3. And I do NOT say that lightly. Allman Brothers is one of my favorite bands of all time, they got me into music in general, they were my first concert ever and they’re very nostalgic for me…but there’s just something about Phish that no one else can replicate. They’re so unique, so quirky, their catalog is endless, the musicianship is out of this world, the fans are great people…it’s just a great experience. If you’re looking to dive into phish, you’ll have an ENDLESS pool to swim in. I’m also in the Chicago area and phish doesn’t come around TOO often anymore but they will be at the UC this October for 3 nights, I highly recommend it
7/22/97, Raleigh NC., My Son (6 then) at His 1st show, in that now-famous torrential downpour, was on my shoulders until the lightning got to close, Fish was in a fancy brown outfit and tightly coiffed. Incredible memory and, along with 11/21-23 in Hampton & Winston-Salem, We saw 4 killers that year.
This is the best phish on TV I’ve seen (minus heavy things big cypress-but that was concert footage so different). They clearly are having fun and the mini phish crowd backdrop (I’m guessing) was treys idea. Good touch.
