@@pimsinghatiraj74 When I sent this to Pheobe I was trying to figure out how to live with my TBI, the solace that I helped me was thinking about when I could just chill with my dog and how much peace it gave me. I’m glad that I helped others out that’s what I want my music to do!
I keep expecting to eventually get bored of listening to Stranger In The Alps, but every time I listen to it, it’s like I’m falling in love with it all over again. As sad as some of the songs are, it soothes me completely.
Interestingly, that's what a lot of reviewers have written; that she writes sad lyrics but their balanced by a feeling of...I don't know, serenity? Not sure the word to use, but soothing works perfectly actually.
I love that she says "you said they're all having babies" instead of "you said they're all getting married" every time she sings Scott Street live. I always get excited to see if she's gonna switch it up and she always does she's so cute
every once in awhile, I love to revisit this show. I remember this night ever so fondly -- one of my favorite concerts (the boygenius tour). when lucy, phoebe, and julien each finished their individual set, and then joined for the combination set... one of the happiest rooms I've ever been in my life.
It is no exaggeration for me to say that ever since I discovered Phoebe Bridgers and her music, I have been a better person with a mind much more at ease. Several of her lyrics have so resonated with me as to be a balm for my manic depressive mind... and I am so grateful for that. Thank you, Phoebe. Please don't stop being and writing. What you do is meaningful and impactful.
I've listened to "Scott Street" many times but just now picked up that the drums kick in as she sings "I asked how is playing drums..". Absolutely a brilliant and subtle detail that was included in the writing/progression of the song.
Dude. Her cover of You Missed My Heart is unreal. Just so so good. I wish the line "downriver from the Moundsville prison graveyard" went on for hours and hours. Also, props to her guitarist Harrison. That dude knows how to add to a song without taking anything away from it.
I'm a 52 year old Male. Looking for new good music. She has the voice of an angle that can rock too. I grew up on 80s music. The band is incredible too. Reminds me of Hart or ledzep. They can play. Wow!
Dude... You Missed My Heart really has me down for the count huh. They just sang it so quietly, it felt so intimate and fragile, I feel like my heart just short-circuited.
Killer is seriously so sad but just so beautiful! It always brings me to tears partly because of how sad it is but also because it’s just a masterpiece.
14:52 is an amazing crescendo and brought me to tears. After that point there is so much power and emotion in her voice and the band. I simply love Phoebe Bridgers and her music. It has really grown on me and she is really talented and cares about her music. I can't say that about most new artists. She is new, unique and just simply amazing; I relate to almost all of her songs.
The violinist in this performance is Camille Faulkner. She was mostly Julien Baker's recording and touring bandmate, but Julien, Phoebe, and Lucy Dacus meshed their bands together for this tour. She played violins on Julien's second album, and I believe also on Lucy's *2019* EP, if you want to hear more of her.
Anyone who labels her as "sad white girl music" obviously hasn't listened much. Her band thumps. But at the same time (as others have noted), it's incredibly soothing music. Quite a trick to do both.
I've loved Stranger in the Alps for over two years now, through what was probably the hardest time in my life, and with complete honesty every time I watch a live recording of Phoebe I cry the instant she begins to sing. I'm so grateful that this music has been a part of my life.
When an artist can pull in four generations of listeners that is one talented person. And I can't even discriminate the words because of my hearing loss. I listen to young contemporary artists to have a vision of what a life might be like going forward with the wide variety and formats of music that is available. It gives me perspective. Thank you Phoebe. Kate Schroeder, BD 7/22 will be 80.
I was listening to it yesterday evening and my seven year old daughter came to me out of the blue crying. She she climbed up on me, hugged me and said: "thanks for everything you're doing for me" and "i'll never forget you"...
Read a short article in RS mag about her last night and thought 'she sounds interesting' and now, 2 hours worth of youtube vids later, I have drank the kool-aid and I am hooked.
I came across Phoebe Bridgers at the release of Motion Sickness as a single, didn't mind it, but kinda dismissed her and didn't bother to listen to the album..then BOCC came onto my radar and I loved the album, but figured it was mainly Conor....then I heard I know the End when the video was released and I was blown away....now I have gone back and revisited her as an artist and I just can't get enough. Phoebe..I am sorry I dismissed you so flippantly when i first heard you...but at least I got there in the end
same! I tried motion sickness and i was like "nah" but now i have REGRETS...I could've been listening for months longer! ah well we got there in the end
Same story here. I started with Kyoto then MS, but MS put me off and I didn't listen to her for a while after that. When I listened to the rest of the songs in her second album, I felt bad about having ignored her. Just like Ashley said, I'm glad I got there in the end.
AEA Ribbon Mics on overheads!!!!!!!!!!! + Electric!!!!! I think this show was just before I saw them in Boston last month, Loved it, Love all these ladies!!!!!
